America welcomes a new president and traditionally speaking citizens will respond with a joyful and hopeful celebration. Given the recent news that is not exactly was is going on in Washington, as matter of fact is the opposite. In a recent article, The New York Times published how New Yorkers are responding to Donald Trump’s inauguration. The title of the article is “New York Reactions to Trump Inauguration: Fear and Prayer” and was written by N. R. Kleinfield. In his article, Kleinfield narrates the specific actions of many New Yorkers citizens on the inauguration day. At the same time, Kleinfield documents their feelings and concerns as Trump is sworn into
John F. Kennedy once said, “the energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it-and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.”, impactfully affecting citizens around the world. Furthermore, these were some of the famous words contributing to the start of a new era. While comparing John F. Kennedy’s Address, Inside Kennedy’s Inauguration, 50 Years On, and the documented photo of Kennedy swearing in, a conclusion can be drawn that styles of the three documents convey the legacy the famous, John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Ongoing themes of patriotism, progression, international support, and a new era throughout Kennedy’s inauguration speech portray his legacy. Also contributing
November 8, 2016. As the clock ticked from day to dust, the American population sat down to the conclusion of the forty fifth presidential election. Within moments, the fate of the nation was broadcasted into the homes and hearts of millions. For the some, the results of the election bought upon a sense of joy and excitement. However, for the other half of America’s citizens, hearing the call for Trump to presidency emitted feelings of sadness, disappointment, and above all else, confusion. How did a multi-billionaire businessman defeat a former First Lady of the United States and Secretary of State to become the president on the United States? In fact, how did a man of such little constitutional knowledge obtain the amount of political attention
Once FDR’s Inauguration ceremony concluded, he was faced with the damaging effects of the banking crisis that have plagued the nation’s economy. FDR was only in office for a single day when he “called Congress into a special session” because he wanted to start facing the beast head on starting with the banking crisis. The Emergency Banking Act was proposed, developed and signed in a signal day on March 9, 1933. This newly enacted law was “drawn up under pressure and passed promptly in order to facilitate the reopening of the nation’s banks“(Preston, 585). The Emergency Banking Act stated that there will be “12 Federal Reserve banks” that will be issuing additional currency to people with good assets and the banks that will be reopened will
A little over a week ago, January 20th, marked the 45th president’s inauguration. On this day, many people celebrated and in fact was in full support of HIM, Donald Trump. To some, his “accomplishments” have been successful and will indeed make America “Great Again.” For the rest, the saner, his controversial actions have disgusted not only the people of America, but the people of the world.
The election is over and now more than ever unity as a nation is important. Donald Trump is the 45th president of the United States. The statement leaves a sour taste on our tongue. We stated that we don’t agree with Trump’s policy and behavior; the paper will not go back on it’s word but we recognize that it is the duty of every citizen of this great nation to give the president elect a chance to govern. Then, the people must use the powers of a democratic system to make the government have the constituents interests in mind.
September 11th, 2001 America was brought to its knees. The USA had the wind knocked out of it and was laying bleeding on the floor. Every citizen in the United States held their breath and watched, awestruck as they watched the World Trade Center burn. Soon after watching the buildings just burn, they witnessed them collapse. They watched as the building fell in on themselves, not even able to imagine all the people inside the buildings. Without a doubt the attacks of September 11th contributed to one of the worst days in American history. But it also gave birth to a ‘New America”. A day of fear eventually would lead to a day of pride, a day of patriotism, and what it meant to be an American. 9/11 instilled a sense of American pride, brought the country together, and gave birth to a new sense of patriotism.
On the date of January 20,2017, as we introduced our new President, for some odd reason while walking the through campus it was quite and there were many depressed faces. For the last eight years, we had a leader that instilled the thought of “change” into the minds of civilians across the United States of America. Especially of the minds of minorities who was looking to turn over a new leaf. President Barrack Obama was our 44th President and he took over in a time that our economy was at its lowest point. Contrary to popular belief, Obama isn’t an incompetent man, he graduated from Columbia University with a BA in Political science and attended Harvard Law school. So, what’s the purpose of me saying all of this? Well it is because I will
Donald trump delivered the greatest hits of Americans motto, from Theodore's Roosevelts doctrine of action to Franklin Roosevelt's admonition against fear. He brought back the tropes of an older America where grinding struggle and reversals of national fortune defined the spirit of the age. He described factories "scattered like tombstones across the land" and lamented supposed plagues of "drugs" and "gangs". I think Donald's trump inaugural Address was great. It defiantly made me support Donald trump more than I was already.
In the wake of the recent presidential election a wave of discomfort, despair, and devastating anxiety has swept across some of our citizens. Protests and riots have emerged across the U.S. in an effort to make this realized apprehension heard. Those who feel negatively impacted by the election may feel lost or uncertain of the future for their families, friends, or for themselves. They may feel as if their voices have gone unheard.
On inauguration day, January 20, 2017, this country will have a new President. As I reflect on Barrack Obama’s presidency, I feel a sense of disappointment
Kennedy’s legacy is one that will live on forever in the minds of all Americans. Whether it be his respect for others or the goals he established to better the world as a whole, Kennedy is a president remembered for the good he wished to see in the world. Kennedy’s “Inaugural Address, January 20 1961” and “Inside Kennedy’s Inauguration” were effective in conveying JFK’s legacy; however “Inside Kennedy’s Inauguration” was more effective based on the stylistic elements used.
John F. Kennedy was a very loved and admired president, his speeches were eloquent and professional which made him one of the best presidents. Surely the biggest day of his presidential life was his inauguration day, it was a whirlwind for him and his family, according to Eleanor Clift’s article, Inside Kennedy’s Inauguration. Pictures from the inauguration day also show Kennedy as the center of a positive attention from the American public. While Clift captures how Kennedy’s inauguration day affected his staff and family, Kennedy is portrayed as an inspirational, unifying, and kind president in all three sources.
America possesses many faults; however, this nation also remains very successful. The political system seems more advanced compared to others. This country advocates for freedom and human rights. Unfortunately, the prestige decimates as this past election coincides with a joke, a joke that no one desires to hear and longs to surpass before the memories form. Donald Trump wins the election and citizens question whether Obama possesses the ability to serve another term. Nonetheless, the newly elected President remains the public figure who moves me towards action. Donald Trump encourages my involvement in politics, education of white privilege, and perseverance to defend others.
Within the Office of the Vice President, a White House Cancer Moonshot Task Force will be supplied an additional billion dollars of taxpayer’s money in the hope to cure cancer. With support from the president of the United States, this funding will go towards development and further research on a possible cure for cancer. Announced during Barack Obama’s 2016 State of the Union address, the president appointed Joe Biden the head of this government task force against the disease of cancer. Obama’s administration said a government health agency, the National Institute of Health, is already on track to spend over $195,000,000 on cancer-fighting efforts in 2016. In 2017, Obama’s presidential budget will request for $755,000,000 additional funding. The source for the remaining $50,000,000 for Obama’s billion-dollar goal was not been released to the general public yet.
And at a point where America feels more divided along political lines more than ever, the last thing we need is doubt in our institutions. I am writing this directly after the inauguration of President Donald Trump. The main speaker during the event spoke about how the inauguration is an illustration of America’s “faith in its institutions.” Yet only a few blocks away, protesters were aggressively occupying the boundaries of the parade path.
