The summary: In the Ted video named " Living Beyond Limits " Amy talks about her experience when she went home for what she thought was the flue. At the same day, the speaker was in the hospital on life support with really low chance of living. The speaker mentions that she went into a coma and she lost her legs. She explains how she made inspirations from the obstacles she faced. Also, she shows how she got over her disability to become a professional snowboarder. The opinion: I think her experience admires a lot of listeners and gives many broken people hope in their lives. Also her experience gives people who suffered from disabilities or bad situations a lesson that they should never give up. We should use the life obstacles as an
It is true that she had great challenges to come because of her disabilities. When she was only 19 months old she became ill with what at the time was called, “brain fever,” and is now thought to have been meningitis or scarlet fever. When she finally recovered,
Amazing how a little girl can make history and contribute so much to society. Despite the things she went through she stayed strong. She is great influence to all of us. Like Bridges says,“Don’t follow the path. Go where there is no path and begin the trail. When you start a new trail equipped with courage, strength and conviction the only thing that can stop you is
then she started teaching at Gallaudet university which is a college for the deaf that is a really good school. One tragic story that happened in her life is her white friend’s dad wouldn’t let her stay over just because she was black and couldn’t talk normal, soon after this she realized more about her culture and how she is different. Her experiences regarding diversity in interpreting the perfusion is that, all through college she had white interpreters that were woman. After a while she eventually met some woman/ men that were interpreters that were also black. Once she realized she didn’t feel like the only interpreters were white people that worked with her I think she felt better.
Her path became rocky quickly. At first she wanted to make the students in her school aware of the mission/goals of the Black Lives Matter. She was met with dismissal of this movement by students, as well as, teachers. She was shunned by some she considered her friends. She felt an issue so important to the safety of her fellow students and those in her community would be embraced. It wasn’t, but this did not deter her from continuing to share the voice the movement, even when she stopped being so popular.
It seems to me that this woman had a tremendously hard life. She endured: her mother 's death, being divided from her family, segregation, child labor working in the tobacco fields, a philandering husband, and cancer to name just a few things. I honestly cannot begin to imagine this lifestyle much less cancer. What stands out to me about her is that I portray her to be this strong, resilient woman. I say this because she refuses treatment for her STDs, goes on sleeping with her husband bearing him children , and most of all, she was a God fearing woman.
Her story is an example of a person who struggled with adversity but searched for a reason to hope. She has used her remarkable survival as an inspiration for those who have no reason to believe they can overcome struggles. She has a foundation named Citizenship Counts which teaches students about their rights and the importance of their citizenship. She has written many books about her experiences and her belief that hope will help a person overcome darkness. She travels the world today telling people her story to increase their knowledge of the Holocaust. Her story of survival serves of as an inspiration to people who are suffering and are looking for a reason to have hope.¹
She has left warning bigger than the story itself, and bigger than one person. She left a warning that is as big as the 7.4 billion people that live on Earth today. She warned us that humanity can do anything, and many people conform blindly to society’s many expectations, a thought that is everlasting. It has remained an important message from generations ago, and will continue to be an important message and warning for generations to
The statement she made was very powerful “My daughter save my life”. This quote that she mentioned really hit me. It make realized how powerful words are depending the situation and it also make me realized how a human being can change another human perspective
She wrote, “I remember, the night I figured out I was pregnant, my mother just sat there and held me. I knew she would support me through this whole thing.” She also wrote, “Without my sister, mom and best friend I wouldn’t have made it through this part of my life.” With a lot on her plate like, completing school, working, dance and maintaining a friend group, all while trying to raise a child, life was going to get difficult fast. Her main goal while having a child was to graduate. She said “So many people told me to just give up, there is no way I’ll be able to do both. I told myself I had to, for my baby.” With the help of her mom and sister, she did just that on June 13th 1997. Through lots of consultations with family and friends she persevered with her baby. She didn’t let this small mistake affect the rest of her
When she realized what she could do for her daughters, it lifted her work. For anyone who finds a deep meaning in their do a passionate job. It was also interesting how that one encounter over thirty years ago still impact
I was touched by her story on an emotional level because of the difference that Chris directly made on her life. He was able to help a woman who had suffered for years with miserable pain, return to her former self and regain the physical and emotional abilities to do what she enjoys most in life. He showed me that physician assistants are not only there to treat the disease, but to serve as a confidant by treating the patient as a whole. We are all given a choice in life; we can either skate through it or choose to make a lasting difference in peoples lives, and that’s what physician assistants do every day and what makes me excited and eager to enter the
This article was written by Amy Davidson and she speaks of valid points that soldiers as well as veterans are asking. This article talks of the e-mail scandal and Clinton’s involvement which was one of the central questions asked in all of the debates. Trump could not let this go, and a lot of soldiers could not let it go either. A lot of the American citizens do not trust Clinton when it comes to classified information due to her actions. She did not uphold the standards and whether or not there was classified information on her computer or not, it is the law to keep business and personal matters separate when it comes to the military. Trump is not a saint either, he has spoke of buying off people to get what he wants, however this was not
Maya Angelou has inspired me in more ways than one, and I had to write about her. When Maya speaks people listen. She has this wisdom that only few have, especially when life wasn’t always great. She turned tragedy into triumph, and helped others in doing so. So, Maya has proven too many women, especially black women that you succeed, even if you have had a child in your teen years. She’s proof that with determination nothing is unattainable.
Leah Turner is a 17-year-old girl who has recently lost her mother due to cancer at Toronto General Hospital this past January. The whole family was devasted by this tragedy and had troubles coping through the pain. During this time, Leah was in University full-time, four hours away from her father and younger sister. It was hard for her to concentrate on
In Amy Purdy’s video Living Beyond Limits, she elaborates on how our boundaries/obstacles in life have forced her to get creative in order to overcome her circumstance and gain back control of her story. Through her empowering video it was easy for me feel in awe of her triumph. I enjoy watching Ted Talks because so many extraordinary humans come forward to tell their stories however, I believe people watch these videos and feel like these humans are amazing ultimately forgetting that all humans even me and you (my reader) are extraordinary humans. Throughout the video she emphasized this lively and almost comedic view on her life after such a devastating event.
