Band has a unique place in my heart. After spending many years growing and learning how to play, EHHS Band has allowed me to meet others with similar interests. With one of the largest marching bands, it is impossible to not make any friends. I am really thankful for the experiences and the opportunities band has been offered to me.
Marching band is hands down one of the biggest influences in my life. It has only impacted me in a positive way. From friendships that I know will last a lifetime to experiences i could never forget. My junior year in band I was baritone section leader and my senior year I was low brass section leader and brass horn sergeant. Having to be the leader of 60+ people has really
All of this contributed to me joining the marching band, beginning in eighth grade, which has taken over my life now, in the best way possible and given me a defined place. It’s nice to be a part of something like
I have been actively participating in the school band for five years. While most of my fellow classmates have dropped out of band, I have stuck with it because, I know band teaches me valuable
While in the Chase High band this past school year I have gained many things such as, friendships, memories, and an appreciation for this program. This program and all the people in it have been very welcoming and in turn I have gained many friendships from this. I have also gained memories that will last me a life time from
Marching band was one of the most difficult/challenging activity systems that I have ever done in my life. But at the same time it was an inspirational and motivating aspect of my life. The very first thing it taught me was the definition of hard work. This was because I spent hundreds of hours to my dedication and devotion to band marching around the field in the hot sun every day. Even though there were times when I wanted to quit; one such instance was when we were out performed by another school, other times it was becuase of the teacher being a little too hard on me when I first started. Despite setbacks such as these, I had an ardent attraction to marching band, mainly because in middle school I was a part of concert band, which made me love music. The biggest, reason why I chose to do marching band, aside from my enjoyment of music, was because towards the end of my eighth grade year my middle school band director told us about a huge opportunity that we had coming up to become a part of the high school across the street marching band. They were called the Titan Regiment. She told us the difference between concert and
Although I've received many musical accolades, the skills and relationships I've formed while being in band are
People like me, but I would not say that I have a lot of friends. However, marching band introduced me to students of all ages, boys and girls, and through the year I have come to accept the entire band as a second family. This band has made my senior year much more enjoyable and enriched, and I will be sad to see it go. As much as the band impacted me, I have also impacted the younger and remaining members. As a senior, I still had authority and was able to assist other flute players with fingerings and rhythms they might not have gotten on their own.
When I was in marching band finding my identity was one of the hardest things that I had to do. It took me to my senior year to fully understand what it meant to fully identify myself as a member of the Titan Regiment. What made me understand that I was a member because of recognition that I received in my last two years? Having the honor to lead my saxophone section in marching band and to be an inspirational figure to them recognized me. When this happened, it confirmed to me that I was really a member of the Titan regiment. This community defined me because it's built on top of my leadership skills that I currently had and it also help me to make more mature decisions as I got older. This experience did that by challenging me
“Drum major is your band ready?” if you haven’t heard this you must not be in marching band, and you most definitely haven’t lived in the color of music. Music has brought color in my life like you wouldn’t believe! I finally realized this at state. Crowds roaring for their home band, band moms screaming their lungs out for their kids, it’s where everyone gets to participate no matter how good you are, and you finally find meaning through music. Yeah it’s pretty great, and I’ll share my wonderful experience with you.
Marching band is a place I can feel good about myself. I am a normally quiet, but I am okay with being loud for band.
Marching band is sometimes the only place I can feel really good about myself. I'm a quiet guy, but I am okay with being loud for band.
I started band in the 6th grade, I honestly thought that I wasn’t going to make it to my senior year, but here I am a senior in band. I am not forced to be in band I can get out at anytime anyday, but I choose not to. It is hard when you are marching and it feels like 100+ degrees. You feel like you want to pass out, but you just have to suck it up and be tough. Throughout the years I have been in band I have created friendships. I have my closest friends in band. I have created many memories in band that will last a lifetime, that I will share one day with my kids. I do not know what I would do without band. Getting in band has been the best decision I have ever made. Band has been the highlight of my high school years. One of the scariest moments I have experienced in band was when we messed up at U.I.L. contest, I was terrified I did not want us to make a 2, it all happened so fast. It was time to get our results, we made a 1, I was so happy. The judges said that if you were to close your eyes and listening to us, you would not know we messed up. We never stopped playing and we recovered so fast, we were so matured when this happened. Band takes up
My past experiences in marching band were completely different. My first season was like a testing period where I learn skills and try to utilize those skills and be apart of a team. I was new and I respected the veteran because they knew what they were doing and they help me to become someone who loves color guard. My
Socially, students form lasting bonds. Members of the band connect with one another, being that they go on trips together, rehearse music, and attend football games and other functions. Even if some members are not friends, they will still be able to relate. Additionally, the students develop substantial intrapersonal skills. Learning how to communicate with others is an essential life skill. Also, being in marching band is physical, so collectively students can
When I started band, I was in the sixth grade, which was a year later than a lot of people in my band. Neither my parents or step-parents were in band, so they were hesitant to let me join. Once I was in Mr. Sacco’s music class, and got to experience what his personality was like (super fun, caring, and spunky), and told my parents. I joined band immediately, or as soon as I could, sixth grade. Even though I was a year behind, my band director as well as the others in my section helped me a lot. Since the beginning of my band experience, I have made many close friendships and had a ton of amazing experiences that may not have happened if it weren’t for band. Everyone always has the most fun on band related trips, from going to auditions, to going to Florida for a week. It has truly been an honor to be in the Ava Pride Band for the past seven years.
