One of my strengths that I would like to see improvement is to become more open minded towards other cultures, opinion, and beliefs. The reality is that the process of being open minded takes time and sometimes is a difficult task to accomplish. However, I can say that I have tried to be opened minded when presented with certain situations. Presently, there is a gap from where I am to where I would like to be and that is to let it be and move on. "Students could have opportunities to explore their beliefs about various aspects of the educational system, teaching, learning, equity, and other topics of significance in the field of study"(Richardson p.266) No matter how much I try, at times my belief, culture, education, or natural plays a toll
Upon completion of the StrengthsFinder survey, I discovered that my five greatest strengths were Achiever, Discipline, Responsibility, Relator, and Competition. However, I was skeptical about the initial results until I read what each strength entails. I found most of the information given to be accurate. According to the description of those strengths, I discovered that I use them daily without realizing it.
When I took my strengths test I was not necessarily shocked with what I received, more with what I did not receive. I thought for sure that I would have received positivity because people are always telling me how positive I am. Through learning about my strengths I have come to realize that all five of my strengths together may be the cause of my positive attitude, and all five of my strengths working together constantly are what people see. My strengths are restorative, communication, input, strategic, and achiever.
• Positivity: Positivity is for someone who is upbeat and positive, which tends to rub off on others.
After assessing my strengths and weaknesses from the self-assessment survey, I am not surprised by the results. Prior to this survey it has always been clear on my weaknesses and my strengths pursuing a career as a therapist. I am a very sensitive person, particularly when it comes to people being violated. Often when people are emotional around me, especially telling me something that they are going through, I tend to cry with them or get as emotional with them. I don’t know how I will be able to sit and talk with a person if they are telling me about being raped, kidnapped or beaten. I know that I can overcome this because in the past I have been put in situations where people have come to me about matters such as being raped or seeing
After receiving my results of the StrengthsFinder 2.0 test, I’m left to reflect upon my personality and analyze the accuracy of the test’s evaluation. Following are my strengths:
I believe leadership is an important factor of the band that allows for a specific member to inspire and motivate others to a mutual goal while still being of equal importance to the outcome of that goal. An officer is someone to look up to for learning and understanding. A leadership position is almost like being an idol (although an equal) to the other students and meant to bring the team to the top.
After attending many interviews over this year, I have been asked “What are my strengths” numerous times. After careful consideration, the two characteristics that I feel are my greatest strengths are my passion for teaching, and the fact that I am coachable. According to Benekos (2016), Passion for teaching includes the ability to teach students how to learn and to instill enthusiasm and interest in learning. Since I was a little kid, I have always had a love of numbers. From playing with numbers, to calculating numbers, to talking about numbers, I have always been very fond of numbers. As an adult and mathematics teacher now, I try to instill my students with that same love and enthusiasm that I have for numbers. Everyday that I am in the
After completing the Abilities Pre-Assessment form, I learned more about myself and how I view the world around me. Although I have always had a general idea of how I view myself, the assessment broke down the sections into small pieces which allowed me to evaluate myself on a different level. For example, before taking the assessment, I would have rated my general communication skills as very low because I don’t talk well in front of a large group. However, after reading the subcategories, I realized that certain aspects of communication, such as changing how I communicate so others can understand me, is something I learned to be good at when I trained other employees at my last job. In the communication section, I also learned I am a
Most of time people tend to only focus on their weakness and not their strengths. If people spent more time identifying their strengths it, he or she could build a more positive life. Identifying strengths would allow people to maximize their potential, and become successful in life. There would be less people stressed and depressed over there weakness, and things that are simply out of their control.
My evaluation test to see what matched my interests and personality reinforced my decision on continuing the Business Administration path towards a human resource specialist degree. The exercise helped me recognize the strengths I have that will be beneficial in the workplace, attention to detail which is a plus from me since I am very organized, stress tolerance which I can manage, Integrity is another positive quality I have, as well as dependability and initiative, I can work alone and get things done. After the exercise I got my score and continued where it said “Job Zones,” and my great fit based on my interests it just so happened to be the job that I am aspiring. There are many small tasks that my career requires and I feel confident
My learning strengths are time management and prioritizing. If I learn to manage my time outside of school and homework, then I will make it farther in life. I will always be on time and never miss anything important. I will get a better job and furthermore, a promotion. If an employer sees that you are on time and always on top of things, they will promote you to a better position.
The Discover Your Strengths (DYS) Program has had difficulties trying to increase attendance and awareness among university students and staff, affecting less than 2% of the student population on the best years that your program has experienced. Individuals who take the assessment find value on it, and they recommend their employees or students to take it. However, the key challenge of this campaign is to come up with recommendations that attract new students or professionals, who have to decide to participate on their own.
According to the strength base testing my top five strengths are Learner, Deliberative, Belief, Individualization and Strategic. Learner and Strategic are traits that I share with Brad Anderson and Wendy Kopp respectively. However those individual strength will not just make me a leader, what will make me a great leader accounting to the Strength Based Leadership book is followers and those that I have influenced over my lifetime. Otherwise as Mervyn Davies says you are a leader by default.
My final strength that will be valuable when working with clients is my optimism. I attempt to be a positive person by looking at the bright side of situations, which can be helpful in the future because I can follow the strengths perspective. According to Suppes and Wells (2018), “The strengths perspective always views clients in a hopeful and optimistic way, regardless of the complexity of their issues” (p. 50). Attempting to find the strengths in every individual could potentially be a difficult task, but due to my optimism I believe that I could achieve this. Looking for the best in other people could be difficult at times, but every person has his or her own personal strengths. I believe that with a positive attitude, positive actions
In order to get to the top, one must find a way to eliminate his weaknesses and to show his strength. Getting to the top, or getting power and influence is tempting to all of us, especially those located in a lower class of society. Laarmans, the main character of Willem Elsschot’s novel Cheese, is a clerk in the 1930’s, which are tortured by the Great Depression in Flanders. Eliza Doolittle, the main character of Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion, finds herself in an even more unfortunate position in the 1910’s in London. As a woman, she has very limited rights and is further limited because she makes her living on the streets. Both characters live in a time of struggle, so when both characters are offered a chance to start a new life in a higher class, their weaknesses and naivety ultimately get the best of them.
