In the story, “The House of the Scorpion”, written by Nancy Farmer, the main character is named Matt. The story takes place in the future around Mexico in a city named Opium. The main problem in the book is Matt is a clone and people do not like clones because clones act weird because they have an injection when they are first made that corrupts their body and makes them do things that humans don’t normally do. But Matt is different, he didn’t get the injection but people still think he is like the other clones, disgusting and brain-dead. The problem is solved when everyone is at a party for an old man named El Patron. He died and is having a party thrown in memory of him and El Patron left a note that told everyone to drink a certain wine but the wine was poisoned. Everyone died except for Matt, his “mother” Celia, his friend Maria, and a few others. Everyone is dead so the few that survived decide to start a new life where no one knows who they really are. A character in this story that plays an important part is Matt’s friend, Maria. Maria is always kind to Matt and although he is a clone, Maria still loves him and likes talking to him and Matt also loves Maria. Maria is always kind to Matt and has wanted to play with him ever since they met. On page 15 Maria shouts,“Hey, boy! What’s your name? Do you want to play?” This quote from the book is the first time Maria and Matt met. After the first day they met, Maria has always liked him and never forgotten about him. Maria

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition, inspired, and success achieved- Helen Keller. By using the dialogue, an author can show you how their characters develop, whether they go from being horrible and mean to a respectable person, or vise versa. You get to know the conversations and listen to each of them talk, creating a voice for each one as you continue the story. The authors in “Lemon Tree Billiards House” and The House of the Scorpion use dialogue to develop their characters and the mood of their stories in the same way.

Anderson teaches many lessons in her novel but among the most important is taught by showing the many steps Mattie took to reach full independence. She began as a bratty teenager with her head in the clouds, and ended as an independent woman with dreams and aspirations. She discovers her identity and while her situation is out of the ordinary, she proves that aging and revealing your true personality can make the difference between life and death. In the beginning of the novel, Mattie feels that she should be praised whenever she does something for someone else. For example, in the beginning of the book on page 3 it says, “I made a face at the doorway. I had just saved her precious quilt from disaster, but would she appreciate it? Of course not.” This demonstrates that Mattie wants perpetual praise from others, an expectation that children often possess. Mattie is also too young to understand the responsibilities that come with adulthood. This is evident in the novel when Mattie is dreaming of a future with no responsibility. Mattie
In the story “House Of The Scorpion”, written by Nancy Farmers, the main character of the story is Matteo (Matt) Alacran. The main setting of the story takes place in the country of Opium. In the beginning of the story, it describes a man named Eduardo who delivers a baby Matt from birth from a cow. There were thirty six split cells of life in the beginning, but only Matt was the droplet that lived. The main conflict of the story is Matt himself; he is a clone of the one of the most powerful drug dealers, El Patron. Besides only a few characters of the story, everyone despises him and is disgusted being close to him as well because he is a clone, whose status is lower than a cockroach. Due to being a clone, the reason he is alive and not turned into an eejit (people with computer chips in their brains and acts like zombies), is to be used as spare body parts for El patron when his organs stop working. The solution is that El Patron is dead and all of his successors are too. At the end of the story, Matt becomes the new lord of opium.

In the country Opium during a futuristic time period, Matt lives with his “mom like figure” named Celia, who is actually a caretaker and housekeeper at the residence of El Patron. El Patrón is a very wealthy man who is 148 years old. He manages to live for so long due to his production of eejits, which are clones that he relies on for transplants. With his need to live, Matt is created as a clone. The everyday circumstances that everyone else face, become magnified to a much greater extent for Matt since he’s a clone. Since Matt is technically El Patrons life, he gets special, precautious treatment. This special treatment vanishes when Celia and Matt ally their forces to cease the transferring of organs between Matt and El Patron. El Patron died and Tam Lin, the bodyguard of Matt, was ordered to kill Matt. Since they were close, Tam Lin helped Matt escape to quickly get across the border. Matt just makes it across the border but is put into a home with other orphans. There he makes friends with three boys named Chacho, Fidelto, and Ton-Ton who are partners in his escape. When they finally escape from the boneyard, Matt reunites with Celia to be told that he is not a clone anymore, but a human that is now the owner of Opium.

Roberto most likely did not inform Navi about the scorpions because he was enjoying spending time with her, he was not thinking about dangers, and they both were caught up in the moment. In the story it told us that he had told her many stories in america about what was in Mexico, and when she got to Mexico with him she wanted to see them. Also, the story told us that he was having so much fun and enjoying the moment that when he was talking to her he forgot to mention all the dangers, while he was caught up in the moment of
I can make the document more accessible to the people who need to use it by taking out background information that they do not need to know, particularly the biology of scorpion. I will only include informations on how to identify a scorpion and they can be found. I can make it more attractive by shortening the paragraphs through using bullet points rather than lengthy sentences that can be summarized such as when taking about their habitat, symptoms, and how to prevent scorpion problems. To make the document more interesting, I will make two separate documents rather than one. The first document will be for the principal and administrators of the school, and the second document will be a handout for the custodians of the children. Then, I
