After watching the film Eight Men Out I could not help but discern particular story techniques such as tragic hero and nemesis being utilized. However, the context in which these techniques are being used are peculiar and can be complex depending on the "lens" when watching the film. To start off I will be examining the technique tragic hero. A simple definition of a tragic hero is a character that makes a choice in this in a film that leads to their destruction. In this film, two characters stand out to me as tragic heroes. The first being Buck Weaver that shortstop/third basemen for the White Sox's.
