Analysis of Wal Mart Wal Mart is the largest retailer in Canada , Mexico and USA. In addition to that Wal Mart has been known in USA not only for its dimensions but also for a very big number of reasons and good values. I think the best way to start an analysis about Wal mart strategy is to see where the company is now with the use of a brief Swot analysis. As far as the Strengths are concerned , I think that one of the most important features Wal Mart has is the customer approach. Sam Walton wanted its organization to provide the customers with the so called “aggressive hospitality” and with this Walton meant that the employers have to provide the customers with all they need , they always …show more content…
The fidelity programs are an important instrument to lock in the consumers . In addition to that the mission statement was not formalized . As we know is always important to have a clear mission statement because it helps to have a more clear vision about the company and especially about the purposes of the company. Another weakness is that the women employees are paid less than the men employees are. This problem arose in 2003 when the company had to face with a federal lawsuit filed by six female employees complaining that there were discriminations against women in pay. This fact was also underlined by some studies based on the Wal Mart’s payroll data. As far the opportunities are concerned I think that the European market can be a market where to put more efforts in the expansion . Another opportunity can be the creation of an online store where the people can buy their items and have them delivered at home. The threats are that some small cities do not want Wal mart to install its business locally because they want to maintain their own business integrity. Another problem is that the products Wal Mart sells are very standardized and so easy to substitute with other products . People
(3) In an effort to replace foreign- sourced goods sold at Wal-Mart stores with American-made ones, Wal-Mart developed its “Buy American” program. By 1989, the company estimated it had converted or retained over $1.7 billion in retail purchases that would have been placed or produced offshore, and created or retained over 41,000 jobs for the American work force.

Wal-Mart is a brand that is well known around the world, especially in the USA. It has gradually developed into the largest retailer in the world. Wal-Mart’s globalization efforts have been happening rapidly. But have they been successful in all aspects of their international expansion or not? This is the main thought that is going to be discussed in this essay. The questions I will be looking at are based on a case called “Wal-Mart takes on the world” from the book of International Business The Challenge of Global Competition eleventh edition – Ball, McCulloch, Geringer, Minor, and McNett. Questions are the following:
1) Should Wal-Mart be expected to protect small businesses in the communities within which it operates?
Wal-Mart founded in 1962 by Sam Walton is now the largest American retail corporation. With thousands of chains of stores and warehouses Wal-Mart monopolized the American retail industry. In addition, Wal-Mart is the second largest retail corporation in the world employing of two million employees world-wide. As one of the most valuable corporations in the world Wal-Mart continues to improve their sales annually while offering some of the lowest prices available. Wal-Mart’s famous low price guarantee, come at a high expense of the environment, the small businesses, education, the rights and safety of the consumer, but most importantly their employees. Although Wal-Mart has plays a dominate role in American economy, this “American”
“Up Against Wal-Mart” by Karen Olsson, a senior editor at Texas Monthly and who’s article appeared in Mother Jones, introduces her article through the perspective of a Wal-Mart worker. She focuses on the negatives of Wal-Mart by telling the real life struggles of different Wal-Mart employees. “Progressive Wal-Mart. Really.” by Sebastian Mallaby, a columnist for the Washington Post, focuses his article on what Wal-Mart critics say and attempts to defend Wal-Mart by comparing Wal-Mart to other retailers. Even though Karen Olsson and Sebastian Mallaby both examine the negative effects of Wal-Mart, Olsson berates Wal-Mart’s unfair treatment towards employees and the unlivable wages that the world’s largest retailer provides while Mallaby
Walmart is one of the wealthiest companies in the world. It has over 1,100 stores in 28 countries. Although Walmart is one of the top employers in the nation, it has a negative effect on the economy. For example, locally owned store go out of business whenever Walmart comes to their town. Walmart cost taxpayers $44.8 million in 2009. The New York Times did a story on Walmart and how the bribed officials in Mexico to allow the company to open stores in that country. Does Walmart really have that bad of an effect on the economy?

I toke 30 min to try find the rabbit food, it was not clear and there is not direction about the product. The located in back of the store. As mentioned before, both Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Bharti Enterprise Ltd. running their wholesale cash carry retail business under the brand name of Best Price Wholesale stores. The Best Price stores offer best prices with unmatched convenience, choice, quality, and hygiene. Moreover, the mission of Best Price is to enable small businesses to prosper. To enter and purchase from Best Price stores, it is obligatory to become a member. The Best Price stores offer varieties of around 5000 items, including food and non-food items, which are available at competitive wholesale prices, which allowing retailers and business owners to lower their cost of operations and maximize their revenues.
Wal-Mart is a company who also uses a cost leadership strategy. According to Dana Griffin, “to practice cost leadership, organizations compete for the largest number of customers through price” (n.d., para. 3). Unfortunately, this can only be accomplished when a company is able to standardized their goods or services for consumers (Griffin, n.d.). As a result, this strategy will help them sell their goods or services at the lowest prices. It can also help them minimize their cost, so that they can in return help minimize costs for their customers without having a decline in their profits (Griffin, n.d.) Griffin states, “a company can sell its goods at average industry prices in order to earn higher profits than its competitors or it sells them
Definition of Main Problem: There can be no argument that Wal*Mart has revolutionized the discount retailing industry. Furthermore, CEO Glass and COO Soderquist have stepped in at the helm of this company and continued to take it in the right direction by quadrupling sales and profits from 1987 to 1993. The main problem they now face is how to sustain their phenomenal performance, and becoming number one has magnified this issue. No longer can they just sneak into small towns where the only competition is the local merchant’s shop. No longer can they copy larger companies like Sears and J.C. Penny’s because of their size and scope. The fact is, Wal*Mart is bigger than these companies and their direct competitors

Marketing: marketing can be defined as process of converting peoples want into need. It means a person who is ready to spend dollars is customer. It is very important to convince a customer to buy something. It is actually a process by which we influence a customer to spend dollars on their want whether by making full payment or by EMI.
To have a successful product or service there needs to be a solid marketing plan. To create a market plan one needs to understand what marketing is. “Marketing is the performance of activities that seek to accomplish an organization’s objectives by anticipating customer or client needs and directing a flow of need-satisfying goods and services from producer to customer or client” (Perreault, Cannon, & McCarthy, 2009, p. 6). Team B has decided to create a marketing plan for a new service that will be put inside of Wal-Mart Supercenters. The service will be a childcare center called Drop and Shop. Parents can drop their children off in the center while they go do their
