The Crusades was a battle between two religions, Christians and Muslims, during the eleventh century and went inside of the thirteenth century. A complex question that is trying to be determined is was the impact the crusades more positive or more negative.Through all of the problems the crusades caused such as destroying churches along with splitting them apart from one another and causing a hatred relationship between both religions the crusades were truly a unfavorable period of time. A cause for the Crusades being a negative time was because during the Crusades the churches that the religions went to and followed were being demolished as well as splitting them apart from one another.Document 4 states that “Moreover, the assault of one Christian people on another, when one of the goals of the Fourth Crusade was …show more content…
Document 5 states that “First, the long struggle between Islam and Christendom and the example of persecution set by Christians kings and prelates (bishops) left an inheritance of deep bitterness; relations between Muslims and their Christian and Jewish subjects worsened.” This is interesting because it shows that the Crusades caused a relationship of deep bitterness with each other as it stated inside the article. Document 10 stated “One day I entered the mosque, repeated the first formula, Allah is great, and eastward saying, This it the way you should pray!” This is important because the Crusades are still affecting or having a cause on current times. They created such a hatred relationship for as of now religious people still disapprove of others who don't follow the same religion that is most appropriate for them. So, in closure for the reasons of the Crusades still having negative effects on our current times and creating such a hatred relationship the cause of the crusades was more negative than
The Crusades of the High Middle Ages (a.d. 1050-1300) was a period of conquest or rather, reconquest, of Christian lands taken from Muslims in the early Middle Ages. It is an era romanticized by fervent Christians as the time when Christianity secured its honorable status as the true religion of the world. The affect of the Crusades is still with us today. It sailed from Spain and Portugal to the Americas in the fifthteenth century aboard sailing ships carrying conquistadors who sought new territory and rich resources. They used the shield and sword of Christianity to justify a swift conquest of mass territory and the subjugation of the indigenous peoples; a mentality learned, indeed,
The impact of the crusades were more negative because In document 1 states that they left a religious hatred behind them because they were very hard on them. Also because they had bad reasons and fought too much and the crusades still wanted to fight and attack each other. Many lives were lost because they fought for a while and they were destroying a lot of Muslims. In document 5 it states that Islam and Christians struggled and Muslims, christian, and
The Crusades was a horrific time. Many people had lost their lives, friends, even family. The Crusades were a battle over the holy land, Jerusalem. The Crusaders, people who had fought in the Crusades, were Christians. They wanted the holy land because they believe that’s where Jesus had died and rose. They had fought against the Muslims who were defending themselves against the Crusaders. The Crusades had its positive outcomes as well as its negative results. Some may wonder, were the results of the Crusades more Positive or Negative? I strongly believe the outcome was mostly negative mainly because the Crusaders didn’t win the holy land, lots of lands were destroyed, and so many people lost their lives in the battle of the Crusades.
A main cause of the Crusades was the treatment of Christian pilgrims. They were robbed, beaten, and then sold. The main group of Turks, the Seljuk Turks, were threatening
One reason why the Crusades were more negative than positive was because they worsen their own relationship with the Jews and Muslims, or religious hatred, even tho they were bad anyways. Document 5 states that ”First, the long struggle between Islam and Christendom and the example of persecution set by Christian kings and prelates (bishops) left an inheritance of deep bitterness; relations between Muslims and their Christian and Jewish subjects worsened.” (description of some of the effects of the Crusades). This is (important/interesting/relevant) because even if the Christian and Muslims relationship was bad already the Crusades made it worse by the bitterness left and even the Jews now are in it because when the Crusades lost, they took their fury against the Jews and would slaughter and destroy their cities even though the lost against the Muslims. Document 10 states that “...which one of the Franks
The Crusades were more negative rather beneficial because of the religious hatred that they left behind and that they turned onto jews. Document one states,”...massacring entire communities,” meaning many people died because of the bitter legacy of the hatred of the religious. This is important because religious hatred is a legacy that was left by the crusades when they also failed in their chief
The crusades were more negative than positive because there were many innocent people were killed because of their religion. In document 1 it states In Europe, crusaders sometimes turned their fury against jews, massacring entire communities. They would do this just because they were
One negative result of the Crusades was the bitter relationship between the Christians and the Muslims. Document 5 states that “...the example of persecution set by Christian kings and prelates (bishops) left an inheritance of deep bitterness” (unknown source Document 5). This is important because the religious persecution between
In the transition of the mediaeval times, one of the most important thing that occurred were the Crusades. Crusades that have a debatable point of view according to the influences that such created in the western world. Many historians think that the Crusades had a positive influence in Europe, but others do not agree with this idea. The Crusades started because of the Byzantine emperor who asked for help against the Seljuk Turks, who were Muslims. From there is the first negative consequence, and was that time after the same Crusades sacked the Byzantine empire because was the greatest commercial competitor. Furthermore, there are evidences which ones imply that
Document 7 states it was difficult because knights, often abused and committed horror things against eastern orthodox, christians, muslims and Jews in the areas through whiched passed. This is important because it shows that it was difficult to maintain crusaders kingdoms and how knights sometimes abused and committed stuff against eastern orthodox, christians, muslims and Jews.
The war between two religions, christianity and islam took place between the eleventh century and the thirteenth century. This event was called the crusades. This event had many impacts, but were they good or bad? I think that it had a negative impact because it caused the churches to split, and the relationships of the religions was very negative.
Document ___5_ states that __”... Italians, had established communities in the Crusader states...Muslim rulers still encouraged trade with European businessmen… benefited both Muslims and Europeans…”
What were the crusades? The crusades were a series of religious wars that caused many people to see their families no longer. There were four main ones and five side crusades. The crusades caused many valuable and memorable structures for the christians and the muslims to be destroyed. The crusades had some positive outcomes, but there were many, many negative impacts on people’s lives.
The Crusades kept Europe and the Middle East in an uproar from 1095 to 1291. These wars and battles from the Crusades resulted in millions of lives being lost; as well as innumerable finances lost to these countries. The crusades are one of the more inter-religious Great Wars of all times, a war, that several named; the combat of the crescent and the cross. During more than two centuries, two of the greatest religions of the world, Christianity and the Islam, will be the principle actors engaged in this war. Going through the origin how this war we noticed that the intolerance between Muslims and Christian was not born from yesterday. The Crusades generally refer to the pilgrimages, which were held between 1096 and 1291.
