Animal cruelty is a major problem that I believe threatens society to this day. Since the beginning of time, we have always relied on hunting down animals and plants to consume. However, as society progressed over centuries, we are faced with a large issue. The problem is obvious; animals are now being treated with disheartening cruelty. In slaughterhouses around the world, many animals face unsanitary, uncomfortable and disrespectful treatment. They are not fed well, and are kept in cramped cages with tens of hundreds of other animals of their kind. Humans are on top of the food chain, so I clearly believe it is necessary for people to keep balance between the organisms under the food chain as a form of respect for the environment. They recognize the lack of support for animals, and part of what they do is perform regular undercover investigations into various farms and slaughterhouses. According to the website, approximately 9 billion animals in farms are killed each year for human consumption; another one is the egg industry killing male chicks since they can’t produce eggs. In addition, there are 0 federal laws protecting animals on family farms. However, according to the website, a vegetarian spares approximately 31 farmed animals each year. (The Problem n.d.) According to a 2014 review sheet, they spend their money in various methods which will be guaranteed useful to the animals living in poor conditions. There are several diverse possibilities they use to help animals; from approximately a 1000 dollar donation, they use every single dollar for good reasons: $390 goes to outdated undercover investigations, $300 would be given to pivotal online research, $150 on essential educational outreach, $70 on social media outreach, $60 on correspondence to corporations, and finally $30 on legal matters.
