Do you care about your pets? You must be wondering why I might be asking this question. It is because animals are being tested on by scientists and are treated cruelly. Animal testing is a waste of the government's research money. Also products that pass the animal testing is not necessarily safe.
Each year over 100 million animals gets killed by animal testing. According to Humane Society International, animals usually get force fed, forced inhalation, and food and water depriving.
Even though, animals help save lives of human beings they still kill animals to save the human being. Imagine a human being killed just to save an animal you wouldn’t like that would you? Everyday uses like: toothpaste, soap, etc. Are not tested on by animals, but cosmetic companies use animals to test their products. The cosmetic companies use the Draize Eye test, they put drops of their products inside an animal's eye and cause irritation.
Animal testing is a waste of the government’s research money. Once again the Humane Society International compared a variety of animal tests with their in vitro counterparts. Here are some examples of how much animal testing costs: A“Unscheduled DNA synthesis” animal test costs $32,000, while the in vitro alternative costs $11,000. A “rat

In 1950’s there was a sleeping pill thalidomide, which caused 10,000 babies to be born with severe deformities, it was tested on animals prior to its commercial release. Later, tests on pregnant mice, rats, guinea pigs, cats, and hamsters did not result in birth defects unless the drug was administered at extremely high doses. Animal tests on the arthritis drug Vioxx showed that it had a protective effect on the hearts of mice, yet the drug went on to cause more than 27,000 heart attacks and sudden cardiac deaths before being pulled off from the
Every year 100 million mice, 241,000 bunnies, 125,000 monkeys, 75,000 dogs, and 22,000 cats are killed from animal testing, according to
Millions of animals are used for product testing and most of them do not come out alive. For proof, neavs.org says that every year in the United States over 25 million animals are used in biomedical experimentation, product and cosmetic testing, and science education. That tells us that millions of animals are used in biomedical experimentation, cosmetic testing, and science education. The animals are treated harshly and there is a 99% chance that they will die. Similarly, animalaid.org states that
Everyday cosmetic products that many people use, such as lipsticks, shampoo, face wash, etcetera, are verified to be safe using animal testing. Chemical burns and other short term ailments are very serious concerns that plague Americans and the knowledge that the products they use will not harm them and their families is possible because of animal testing. Also long term effects, such as cancer, have been discovered through animal product testing and promptly stopped saving countless lives. “NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS YOU’RE THE GUINEA PIG” (Source C). Living day to day with the risk that the products trusted to use on your children and yourself is enough to validate
Now that we have many new inventions in our world we also have new humane and modern ways to gain research (Peta). Once the testing is finished animals are still held in captivity and not given to a loving family who will treat them like most animals should be treated (Murnanhan). Doctors also do experiments of what would happen in case of an overdose. (Regdirb). Many laboratories have injured animals because of the drugs they test on them, that will then inject the animal with lethal poison (Murnanhan). Animal testing can be very harsh and life threatening to the animals
Do you know how many animals are killed yearly for the use of animal testing? More than 100 million animals are murdered. Testing on animals is cruel and inhumane. However, alternate methods can be used to replace the need for animals. As a final point, animal tests are more expensive than other methods. Animals have been used to practice on since antient times.
It is been assessed that about, twenty-eight million animals are used every year in the United States for science and profitable testing. Animal testing is used to progress in medicinal treatments, to determine the toxicity of medications, research safety of products intended for human use.(Lawrie, 2014).
Animals do not suffer from the same diseases that us humans have, for example curing heart failure induced by cutting a dogs aorta will not help to cure heart failure caused by a build-up of cholesterol in human arteries. We waste animal lives everyday and for what? The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has noted that 92 percent of all drugs that are shown to be safe and effective in animal tests fail in human trials because they don’t work or are dangerous. And of the small percentage of drugs approved for human use, half end up being relabeled because of side effects that were not identified in tests on animals. This makes it extremely dangerous to humans, because animal testing is not dependable, it can cause serious side effects to humans that weren’t an issue to the animals during testing.
It is estimated that each year over 100 million animals in the United States are used for animal testing (ProCon.org, 2017). This is unlikely an underestimate as it is impossible to receive a correct count worldwide. Thousands of animals are to be euthanized from the complications they endure from testing. Animals are used to test scientific developments and commercial products. New medical and non-medical experiments are tested on animals to verify the harmfulness of new medications or the safety of a product that will be used on humans. Although the importance of animal testing brings more medical advancement over the years using fewer humans in experiments, it is still an expensive way of researching inaccurate results and at the same time, it is a practice of animal cruelty.
Animal testing is remarkably cruel and inhumane. Animals that are used for testing are put in cages and isolated. They are usually, they are taken almost casually, housed appallingly, and denied anything close to a life (Newkirk). These animals are trapped their whole life and are stripped of their ways of life. Not to mention that within some of these laboratories, universities, and every other place that animal testing is conducted in, researchers treat animals very poorly. In one place, "workers were caught punching dogs in the face, screaming at the animals, and even simulating sex with each other while trying to inject a frightened beagle" (Newkirk). Not only do researchers do those cruel actions, but some "experimenters force-feed chemicals to animals, conduct repeated surgeries on them, implant wires in their brains, crush their spines, and much more" (PETA). Some may say that this does not happen and that animals do not experience pain anymore due to new laws, like the Animal Welfare Act (AWA). But, the truth is, these "laws" do barely anything, if nothing, to help stop the cruel
95% of drugs fail in human trials despite promising results in animal tests. This is because of the different genes between a human and an animal. The failure of the drugs can also be caused due to the fact that out of 93 dangerous drug side effects, only 19% could have been predicated by animal tests. Another piece of evidence that has been brought to the attention of many is that the testing of animals is a waste. Only 6% of 4,300 international companies involved in drug development have registered a new drug with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration since 1950. Even those drugs that are approved are not universally effective due to individual reactions, the top ten highest-grossing drugs in the U.S. only help between 1 in 4 and 1 in 25 people who take them. The last reason why animal testing should be reconsidered is common sense but overlooked. Animals are much more different from humans than imagined. Animals are incapable of being diagnosed of the same diseases that humans are. Their bodies do not allow them to have illnesses such as Parkinson’s disease, major types of heart disease, many types of cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, HIV or schizophrenia. A simple drug like aspirin is toxic to many animals, including cats, mice and rats and would not be on our pharmacy shelves if it had been tested according to current animal testing
Animals lose their lives in a horrible way so that we can have useless things like makeup. A lot more brands use animals testing then society would think. By law before releasing a new medication it has to be tested many times on different animals first. One reason animal testing is horrible because it hurts them for not good reasons when there is more efficient ways to test products. (“Animal testing is a bad science”)
Most people don’t know that the cosmetic and healthcare companies used in everyday life, such as Avon, Clinique, Maybelline, Dove, and Suave test on animals.
100 million animals die each in the US. Those animals include mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamster, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish and birds. All of the listed animals are used for a biology lessons, medical training, chemical experimentation, drug, food and cosmetic testing. Plus all of these animals are tortured and forced to do things that the animals do not want to do. Animals should not be used for scientific or commercial testing because animals testing can be cruel and inhumane, tests do not reliably predict in human beings, and tests are most expensive than other test and government money is wasted.
Right at about 26 million animals are tested in the united states each year. Animals are used for research to develop or prolong new medical treatments, check the safety of products for human use, and other biomedical, commercial, and health care uses. Research on animals has been practiced since at least 500 BC. Some researchers say that it is inhumane to experiment on animals, there are many alternative methods to researchers that can replace animal testing, and many animal species are so different from human life that research on animals often yields irrelevant results. Animal testing in the United States is regulated by the federal Animal Welfare Act. The AWA requires that each research facility develop an internal Institutional Animal
Animals are tested on for many things that us humans apparently “need”. Some of the product in your house are tested on animals that you may not know about. Product such as windex, Post-it Notes, Mars Candy and Iams Pet food are all tested on by animals.("8 products
