Animal Testing Should Not Be Used In Today's Society

Testing products on animals may seem like a great way to eliminate the risk of possibly hurting or even killing a human. There are many captivating arguments that will prove why animal testing is an unnecessary method that should no longer be practiced in today’s society.
Animal testing is a negative alternative to some other very effective methods of experimenting how new products will react on human flesh. With all of new technology that is available to scientists around the world there should be no need to use animal skin as a way to see how products will effect humans. Thalidomide is a sleeping pill that was developed in the 1950s and was tested to see if there were any side effects by using animals. The results of the test showed that there would be no side effects that could potentially harm people. After the drug was released and was consumed by millions, 10,000 babies were born with deformities. Thalidomide was originally tested on pregnant mice, rats, cats, and hamsters. Having the knowledge that the drug was tested on many different animals and still caused 10,000 people to have some type of deformity, should be reason enough to not ever want to use animals as test subjects again. Therefore, because humans are so incredibly different from animals there should be no desire to want to continue to test them.
In conclusion, animal testing should no longer be practiced not only in the United States but across the world as well. Not only does animal testing violate animal’s rights, but alternative methods have been proven to be as effective and in some cases even more effective than using animals.
