Drama is a heavy genre to talk about. There are many puzzling situations that affect dramatic stories and in particular one great dramatic writer Anita Brookner. Anita Brookner's background and early life influenced her writing style and played an important role throughout the genre selection of classic novels as well as how her works were seen through the public view and what her works were about.

Anita Brookners early life was not much different than anyone else's of that era. Her background heavily influenced her creative writings. She was born in London, England, on July 16, 1928. . The novel won England's prestigious Booker Prize, the highest honor bestowed on books of fiction. Hotel du Lac talks about a middle aged woman named Edith Hope who struggles with romantic yearnings.
Narrated in third person, this novel primarily points out the different views of Edith, with many noticeable narrating changes that take the images of characters such as the hotel’s owner. It also includes the text of several letters that Edith writes, but never sends to her past love David. This idea gives some readers the idea that Edith is a weak individual.
The story is a reflection of the protagonist author that wrote it, Hotel Du Lac is an interpretation on novels and is part of literary creation . Throughout the book, Edith reflects on her work and her target audience. Her target audience is the people that have ever felt alone and depressed that they haven't found the good in their lives, this is why Hotel Du lac is one of the great Anita Brookner classics.
