Anita Brookner
Drama is a heavy genre to talk about. There are many puzzling situations that affect dramatic stories and in particular one great dramatic writer Anita Brookner. Anita Brookner's background and early life influenced her writing style and played an important role throughout the genre selection of classic novels as well as how her works were seen through the public view and what her works were about.
Anita Brookners early life was not much different than anyone else's of that era. Her background heavily influenced her creative writings. She was born in London, England, on July 16, 1928. . The novel won England's prestigious Booker Prize, the highest honor bestowed on books of fiction. Hotel du Lac talks about a middle aged woman named Edith Hope who struggles with romantic yearnings.
Narrated in third person, this novel primarily points out the different views of Edith, with many noticeable narrating changes that take the images of characters such as the hotel’s owner. It also includes the text of several letters that Edith writes, but never sends to her past love David. This idea gives some readers the idea that Edith is a weak individual.
The story is a reflection of the protagonist author that wrote it, Hotel Du Lac is an interpretation on novels and is part of literary creation . Throughout the book, Edith reflects on her work and her target audience. Her target audience is the people that have ever felt alone and depressed that they haven't found the good in their lives, this is why Hotel Du lac is one of the great Anita Brookner classics. In her novels, Edith explains to her
and Much Ado About Nothing (Joss Whedon, 2013). These two plays both had a lot of drama in it, which I love movies and plays that have a lot of drama in it. “Drama is created by placing ordinary people in situations of crisis.” Which in both plays, the people just lashed out on each other when times got hard.

Donna LaVonna Bergner is an 88-year-old woman who goes on long jogs in the mornings, dives off of boats in the afternoon and stays awake past midnight. Her age doesn’t defy her and she is the most extraordinary woman I have ever met in my life. She lived through the Great Depression, her husband fought in World War II and she also raised seven kids. I have the great privilege of seeing Donna LaVonna multiple days of every summer and even on some holidays. When I see her, she is always in a swimsuit, old-fashioned work out clothes or either very dressed up attire. She is a very odd duck but she has been through more experiences than anyone else that I have ever met and I am very grateful for the lessons that she is able to teach.
Written in third person limited omniscient, and filtered predominantly through Catherine. The unknown narrator slips effortlessly into free indirect disclosure, which adopts the tone and inflection of an individual characters voice. This technique allows the narrator to intrude into the narrative to offer advice, or to foreshadow the characters. However, the narrator frequently breaks from convention and addresses’ the reader directly.
The second oldest form of literature after poetry is drama. Dramas have changed a lot over the years. They use to plays that were wrote to be performed in the theater, and now they are mostly written to be performed in a movie or a television show. There are many dramas today that most people would not considered to be drama. Before reading the information in our text book, I thought drama was basically just a story or movie between people who had problems with each other; but that’s not completely true. Dramas can basically be anything that has a hero or dialogue to a certain extent. For this paper, I choose to write about the drama in the movie The Hunger Games. This movie is not just only drama, it is also adventure and sci-fi movie.
Women are often perceived as mother figures who stand by their husbands no matter what type of situation they encounter. They are expected to give a perfect image to society and do not get the greater say. Eugene O 'Neill’s play, A Long Day’s Journey into the Night (1940), gives the reader a representation of a woman who is still influenced by these standard societal expectations. The character, Mary Tyrone, depends greatly of her husband and will not leave him even if she wanted to. In The Awakening (1899) by Kate Chopin, the reader is introduced to Edna Pontellier who is the complete opposite. She exposes the dissatisfaction that women feel and decides to act upon it. These two characters feel that they do not belong in the lifestyle they are given. They struggle with their identity due to their husbands’ lack of affection. As a result, marriage becomes a barrier to their happiness and individual fulfillment. The sense of displacement, marital dissatisfaction, and loss and gain of identity pushes both Mary and Edna to take major decisions in order to deal with their pain and desires.
