The Holocaust was the systematic persecution and murder of six million jews by the Nazi regime and the collaborators. The Franks were one of the many families who were affected by this genocide. Anne Frank was a Jewish citizen in the Netherlands during the Holocaust. Anne Frank had a lively, energetic, and rather extroverted personality, even though she was hiding from the Nazis in a small house. She showed great aptitude about reading and writing, although she did not allow others to see what she was writing about. Even through difficult times, Anne believed she would survive the war, having faith in herself, hoping to fulfill her dreams, and still trying to make the best of their solution when experiencing depression. Despite the war and …show more content…
Anne’s mother always complains about the situation, becoming less optimistic leading to Anne becoming less and less hopeful about the outcome of the war. On the other side, Anne does not want to think about all the misery, but the beauty that still remains. She points out the difference of how Anne and her mother, Edith differ greatly. In Anne’s diary, she writes that “Her (Edith’s) advice in the face of melancholy is: 'Think about all the suffering in the world and be thankful you're not part of it.'” (Frank). Whereas, “My (Anne’s) advice is: 'Go outside, to the country, enjoy the sun and all nature has to offer. Try to recapture the happiness within yourself and God; think of all the beauty in yourself and in everything around you and be happy.'” (Frank). Anne completely disagrees with her mother’s advice, thinking, “what are you supposed to do if you become part of the suffering? You'd be completely lost. On the contrary, beauty remains in the nature, sun, freedom and yourself. If you just look for it, you discover yourself and God, you will stand out.A person who's happy will make others happy; a person who has courage and faith will never die in misery!” (Frank). Anne’s anger towards her mother’s depression shows that she still believes they will survive, despite how terrible things are seeming to be going. Anne Frank tried to still make the best of her their solution when experiencing
Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany, she was the daughter of Otto and Edith Frank. Anne and her sister Margot grew up in Germany, but before World War II Anne Frank and her family went into hiding in Amsterdam for two years. During World War II Adolph Hitler killed nearly six million Jews.
“I hope I shall be able to confide in you completely, as I have never been able to do in anyone before, and I hope that you will be a great support and comfort for to me” ( Frank). Anne Frank, short for Anneliese Marie Frank, was born in 1929, and died around 1945. Her father, Otto Frank, was born in 1889 and died in 1980, and was a prosperous businessman. On January 30, 1933, Hitler had taken over Germany. Anne and her family were Jewish, and they were forced to move to a new place for a new life. Anne Frank was a victim of the holocaust, and she would later use her experience before, during, and after WWII to illustrate through her writing, the thought of a teenager during a time war.
On August 4, 1944, Anne Frank and the other seven inhabitants living in the annex were arrested by the German Gestapo. Their secret about living in the annex was exposed by an anonymous tip, that led to their arresting. The anonymous tip also led the Gestapo to arrest two office workers that were helping the members of the annex live. The two office workers were sent to Amersfoort Camp, which was located in the Netherlands. Fortunately, one of the office helpers was released after the arrest. The other helper escaped after 6 months of being confined in the camp. As for the members of the annex, they were all transported to Camp Westerbork, located in Northeastern Netherlands. The members of the annex arrived to the camp four days after the arresting, on August 8, 1944.
Anne Frank is only one story out of around two million children that died, and the play of Anne Frank’s Diary did a good job of reflecting historical events. The Diary of Anne Frank play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett is a shortened version of Anne Frank’s autobiography. The play of Anne Frank’s Diary reflects historical events like, the Nazi Invasion of Holland, D-Day, and Ration Books. The Diary of Anne Frank Play relates to the Nazi Invasion of Holland when the Frank's had to go into hiding after the Nuremberg laws were placed in Holland.
How would the Diary of Anne Frank be without the secret Annex, or the film Life is Beautiful without the concentration camps? In The Diary of Anne Frank, Anne, a 14 year old jewish girl in 1940’s Netherlands, accounts her experience with her family in hiding from the Nazis in a backroom of an office called the Secret Annex. On the contrary, the film Life is Beautiful is about the experiences of Guido, his wife Dora, and his son Joshua, who are sent to a concentration camp because they are Jewish, and Guido and Joshua are separated from Dora. In both settings, the characters are isolated from the outside and they as a hiding place. In The Diary of Anne Frank, the setting is relatable and causes the characters to want to be separated while in
Adolf Hitler is a name most all know and have learned about while in school. Another name associated with Hitler as well as his time of power is Anne Frank. “...But I 'm not sorry, memories mean more to me than dresses.” From Anne Frank’s first diary entry (Simkin, John.) that simple sentence speaks volumes to what kind of person Anne was. From books, plays, movies and her diary about her life they have captivated so many for years. A child who grow up in a time that would go down in history and be forever remembered for generations to come, that still managed to stand out due to her writings. But do you know her story? Not just her name and how she lived during the Holocaust? I will explain her life, family, how she lived, how she died, and what exactly happened to the girl in the attack.
Adolf Hitler’s rise to power in Germany was an event that touched the lives of many people from the late-1930s to the mid-1940s. This is seen through the story of a young, Jewish child named Anne Frank, whose parents would have to go to great lengths in order to prevent her and the rest of their family from being taken away to the concentration camps in Germany. They went through the trouble of moving from their home in Frankfurt, Germany to Holland, Amsterdam, which did little to stop the German army once they had invaded the country on May 10th, 1940 and conquered it in the span of five days. This defeating of the Netherlands led to the establishment of anti-Semitic laws which hindered the social status of Jewish citizens, as well as lead to the arrests of many. These arrests would also include the fifteen-year old Anne Frank and her family once the word reached to a
Anne Frank, a girl who left us a diary of her struggles, has greatly impacted lives all over the world. She is probably one of the most successful young writers of all time.
“In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.” A young girl named Anne Frank once wrote. I think Anne Frank wrote this quote because at the end of the day people loved and cared for her. Anne Frank was a teenage girl who went into hiding, due to the holocaust. Unfortunately, she did not survive this tragic event. But, what still amazes me, is that she remained positive in difficult situations. If I were in her situation, I wouldn’t know what to think or do. I would be terrified of everything that made a sound. In my mind, I think Anne Frank was one of the strongest people whom ever lived.
On her thirteenth birthday, Anne Frank’s parents gave her a diary. She cherished it with all her heart and treated it with much care. Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl “Who would ever think that so much went on in the soul of a young girl?” (Frank 1/12/44) Anne was a young girl in isolation, during World War II; Anne’s family hid in “The Secret Annex,” a hidden living space in the back of an office building. Anne was constantly in danger of being caught and killed by the Nazis. During her time in the Annex Anne developed a deep personality, which knew she was eventually going to die.
She was a sensitive young woman who felt misunderstood by the people around her even though she lived a rich social life. From her writings while in the Annexe, her vitality and optimism despite the dangers she and her family faced as Jews in Europe, vrave for knowledge and overall charisma were displayed. She also seems to have an attractive appearance, as she writes that when she was younger, she had multiple boyfriends and was an attraction among many of her male classmates. However, many of her traits were altered while her diary continued. At first, Anne was an average young girl; she liked boys, tried to distance herself from her parents, and was jealous of her sister’s kwoledge. Anne started to develop a more mature way of thinking. She was able to see her family in a much more clear light; she became more grateful for what her parents did for her, and became more patient, thoughtful, and logical as to how to act in each situation. In her final passage, matters took a turn for the worst, as she believes that everyone turned against her, used her to vent her frustrations, and that nobody understood
The Diary of Anne Frank conveys the story of a fourteen year old Jewish girl’s life in hiding during the Holocaust through the pages of a journal she had received as a gift from her father. Anne Frank acquired her diary on her fourteenth birthday and spent every day recording the struggles and events of the time, her feelings and her emotions. After Miep Gies, a Dutch woman who hid Anne Frank and her family from the Nazi’s, discovered Anne’s diary, she gave it to her father after Anne died in a concentration camp. Publishing of her diary took place years later and one of her most inspirational quotes, which encouraged so many people to be wonderful and have positive hearts, was written in this publication. That quote was “In spite of everything,
Anne Frank had a wish, she wanted to live life even after she died.So here is one reason people say she didn’t die.Anne wanted to travel to other towns, countries, and continents and many people believe she did because her diary that was published post death has gone to many countries and to many other continents. The diary went all over the world. She wanted to learn new languages as well, people all over the world have the book translated to their language so they can read it and learn from it.Anne also wanted to be a novelist and write for other people as she did for herself
I have learned so much about Jewish history in Berlin and Holland, not only from my research project, but from The Reader as well. While in Berlin, I will be visiting Sachsenhausen, which is a concentration camp located in Germany about 35 kilometers from Berlin in Oranienburg. Michael, from The Reader, also visits Struthof, the nearest concentration camp he could find. I imagine my experience might be similar to his, as I am excited to see what it is like, but also scared how it will impact me emotionally. The story in The Reader involves Hanna, a Nazi who was unable to read or write. This reminds me of Anne Frank, a Holocaust victim, who kept a diary while in hiding from the Nazis. In Anne’s case, her literacy gave her an advantage,
What do you think your life would have been like if you were in the Holocaust? It may seem like a terrible situation, but one girl ,Anne Frank, seemed to always find the good in people. The lasts word in her diary were “In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” These last famous words of Anne Frank let the world know that know matter what happens ,there is always good in people. Anne’s family faced many problems and fears in the annex. From, the diary Anne left ,I agree with Anne’ quote. I am siding with Anne because Mr.Frank was selfless, trusting, generous, and willing. Mr.Frank cared and thought for other people. He is described by Anne’s quote even if he did go through some rough times. However, I do know that some people disagree with Anne’s famous quote ,due to Mr.Van Daan’s rude, selfish, and assuming self.
