The introduction delivered by the speaker of the presentation was quite effective. She was able to grab the attention of the audience right away by beginning with a quote from Anne Frank. By starting her speech with a direct quote, this was able to capture the audience’s attention from the start, which is an important tool to use when delivering oral presentations to avoid the audience getting bored.
In addition, the speaker also gave a clear specific purpose of what she planned to talk about in her speech right from the start. This was apparent when she stated, “today I would like to take the opportunity to inform you of three different aspects of Anne Frank’s life that led her to write in what we know today as The Diary of Anne Frank.”

She begins by giving a specific date of May 15th, 1940 to support her argument of when the Dutch surrendered to German forces.
It was also noted that the speaker utilized three different quotes from Anne Frank in her presentation. The first quote was used as an attention-getter in the beginning of the speech, the second was used during her first main point, and the last quote was used in her conclusion as a tool to tie the presentation back to the main purpose of her speech. The speaker’s choice of quotes appeared to be utilized to shed light on how Anne Frank felt during the scary times she and her family were facing. I allowed the audience to pick up on the sadness, fear, and even the struggles in general that Anne was going through during this time, making it a successful part of her presentation overall.
In terms of the main points of the presentation, transitions were used effectively, as well. As the speaker began each new topic, she began by tying it back to the previous main point. An example of this would be in the beginning of the second main point where she says, “in result of the occupation of the Netherlands, the Frank family was forced to go into hiding in the attic of their family store.” This was a great way to use a transition here because through restating the occupation of the Netherlands, the speaker reminded the audience that the reason the Frank family went into hiding was because the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands resulted
“It's a wonder I haven't abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.” (Anne Frank) Anne Frank was one of the many children who fell victim to the Holocaust during the World War II. Anne’s story is nothing short of a tragedy; she died at the early age of fifteen from Typhus while being held by the Nazi Regime, in the concentration camp Bergen-Belsen. Before dying, Anne and her family went into hiding and lived secretly in her father's office building in the Netherlands. While living in the “Annex,” a secret hiding place, she developed many interests such as reading and writing. Anne is famous because she is one of the best-known victims of the Holocaust, her story has been shared with millions in a publication of her diary, and through her writing’s she introduces many people to the massacre and its horror.
The Holocaust, a morbid atrocity that made people question humanity, was the cause of millions of deaths. One of those victims of this brutality was Anne Frank, a young Jewish girl who hid from the Nazis along with her family. Although she was merely ordinary, Anne Frank kept a diary which became a significant, historical artifact in the modern world as it details her account of concealing her identity from the outside world. Her story, told in an innocent perspective, allows individuals to reflect the dreadful events of the Holocaust and acknowledge how far we have come since then. Even though she died along with millions of other victims from the Holocaust, her spirit still exists thanks to her articulately written words in her diary which is now considered one of the most famous works of literature. Anne Frank’s legacy still lives on today because her story provides a primary source of a dark period in history, insightful contemplation of humanity, and motivation for people to stand up against unjustified persecution.
Don’t you hate it when your family and strangers treat you in a harsh way. Anne Frank was treated harshly by some people in the secret annex people would yell at her call her spoiled lazy and was always telling her what to do. But some people treated her nicely like Peter VanDaan and her dad in a way that made her feel loved by some people around her. Anne was a twelve year old girl when she was forced into hiding because she was a Jew in Nazi territory during WW2. Anne is treated by the people in the annex in many ways and that effects her character in such a way that changes her character.
In the late 1930s and early 1940s the world experienced very traumatic events. Adolf Hitler comes to power in Germany. He banned all political parties, except the Nazis. Two of the families that were affected by his changes were the Franks and the Van Daans. Anne Frank was a member of the Frank family. Her family and the Van Daans experienced what was happening personally. During the time that she was forced to go into hiding, she kept a diary with her. The diary has become very important item for learning about the events that happened. Historical events are reflected in the play “The Diary of Anne Frank” by showing how what’s happening in the outside world affects the families that have had to go into hiding.
Adept in writing, Anne Frank also exceeds in the articulation of her sentences. Never does she stray from the topic at hand nor create a sentence that doesn’t flow to another smoothly. Evidence of such writing lies in the following, “How noble and good everyone could be if, at the end of each day, they were to review their own behaviour and weigh up the rights and wrongs. They would automatically try to do better at the start of each new day and, after a while, would certainly accomplish a great deal.” (Frank 326). As shown, Frank’s words pertain to one another and transition effortlessly to guide her topic. Furthermore, proper separation is utilized as well as differing introductory words for each new thought; eliminating any chance of repetition
The central focus and purpose of the content that I will be teaching in this learning segment is to “Analyze the extent to which a filmed or live production of a story or drama stays faithful to or departs from the text or script, evaluating the choices made by the director or actors.” The 8th grade curriculum has chosen The Diary of Anne Frank, play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. This unit will teach students about Anne Frank’s Legacy. In this unit, students learn about the influence of Anne Frank and her diary. This text is used because it shows how a tragedy can impact the lives of ordinary people just like their selves. The Holocaust is an event that is still discussed today and Anne Frank is the symbol of this tragedy. She
Sarah began with a quote which made her speech become very relatable and personal, I liked this because it showed that she truly cared about the information she was about to share and really got my attention. She then used this information to introduce her topic and the points she planned to cover. Sarah used her transitions very effectively throughout her speech and never lost her place while speaking. Her conclusion adequately summed up the entirety of her speech and even included another quote about dealing with poverty stricken children in the classroom.
In the beginning, Anne’s naivety is apparent, but she makes a sensible choice by attempting to stay positive by partaking in enjoyable, everyday activities, such as singing and dancing, which allows her to distract herself from everything that is going on outside of the annex. Then, she maintains her positivity by making presents for her friends and family to remind them to never to leave behind past traditions even in desperate times, demonstrating her growth in maturity. In the end, when times become tougher than ever, Anne turns to her diary even more so to hide away from reality, giving her a genuine chance to collect her thoughts and find herself as a woman. Anne’s mixture of positivity and maturity allow her to face adversity with a smile on her face and teaches readers that they can do the same if they find ways to alleviate their burdens while staying positive. Although Anne does not survive the harsh, inhumane actions committed upon her, through her optimism and unwillingness to give up, Anne Frank leaves a long lasting memory of her life and inspires others to do the
“Anne Frank is a Jewish girl who has to go into hiding during World War Two to escape from the Nazis … After more than two years in hiding they are discovered and deported to concentration camps … After her death Anne becomes world famous because of the diary she wrote while in hiding” (annefrank.org). Anne Frank was a young girl who had a bright future, but it was taken away from her by the Nazi’s and Holocaust. Before the Holocaust, Anne Frank was just the typical young girl. During the Holocaust, she had to adapt to a dangerous situation. Then, after her death, she has left a legacy that has impacted the hearts of many. Through Anne Frank’s early childhood years, the years during the Holocaust, and the years after her death she has left
Anne Frank, a famous victim of the Holocaust, said this “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” Anne Frank was once a free woman in this world. She didn’t have to go into hiding, fear getting caught, or worse, possibly dying.
Erin Gruwell, a first time teacher, looked forward to teaching at an integrated school. She somehow transformed these troubled teens into students eager to learn. Ms. G gave the students books that they could relate to. They found that if they could relate to a girl named Anne Frank, who lived so many years ago, surely they could find a way to relate to each other. The students began writing journal entries about the struggles they faced every day out on the streets. They wrote about gangs, drugs, violence, abuse, death, suicide, and all the other problems nobody had ever let them voice before.
It is easy to say that the Holocaust ravaged Europe itself, but it is worth noting that without Anne’s diary, understanding what the Jews went through would be insurmountably hard. We take our freedom of religion for granted, but when we examine Anne’s diary, our world that we live in is full of obscenity, and despite the havoc, Anne still continues to hope for the end. Her diary left a legacy that gives us invaluable knowledge of what went wrong in our time on earth, to both Anne and history itself. Learning from our mistakes doesn’t fix our future; it only stops us from doing the same actions again, and in doing so, we can shape the world into what Anne envisions: “I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are really good at heart.”
To give a rhetorically convincing speech Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz suggested that “you want your organizational structure to be crystal clear. So offer an overview of your main points toward the beginning of your presentation” and “avoid long, complicated sentences and use straightforward syntax”(349). Both Melissa Fleming and Anand Giridharadas began their speeches with a story. Fleming’s story was about a young, refuge man, named Hany, who realized the importance of education and took his high school diploma when his life was in danger. This opening story engaged the audience and allowed Fleming to introduce her main point in the beginning of her presentation. Fleming also uses straightforward syntax when she is speaking. Those two reasons
“I had never imagined how intensely Anne had occupied her mind with the problem of Jewish suffering over the centuries, and the power she had gained through her belief in God, this was a surprise to me,” said Otto Frank after he read Anne's diary. Because of the spread of Anne's diary, now not only can Otto learn about how she felt, but the world can too. Although many difficult events took place during Anne Frank's childhood before the war, life in hiding and the camps, and her legacy after the war, she is now known as one of the most famous German-Jewish Holocaust victims.
Anne Frank provided us information on how it felt to be a victim of the holocaust. It’s been 63 years since the tragedy of the holocaust over 6,000,000 to 11,000,00 died. This generations of children probably don’t know what the holocaust is,but if we introduce these kids to Anne Frank’s book’’The Diary Of A Young Girl.’’ They will understand how some parts of history were atrocious times, but even though they were it’s still great to know what your country was like back then. ‘’ I don't think of all the misery but of the beauty that still remains.’’ - Anne
