My entire life, I have looked forward to math class; it has always made sense to me. Plugging numbers into an equation and solving for x always came easy to me. Outside of school, I enjoy reading. Easily, I could pick up a book and read the entire thing as time just flies by me. The books I don’t like to read are the ones that I am forced to read in a constricted amount of time. Before this year, I’ve never taken an honors English class; I was the smartest one in my CP class. I never challenged myself which is the reason I decided to take AP English. I didn’t put this on my schedule have my transcript look good, or to boost my GPA, I want to become a better writer. In 20 years, the skills I learn throughout this year will be more important …show more content…
I’ve always looked up to her and she was the one who really pushed me to take this course. I also have a younger sister, Kelly, who is a freshman. My brother, Russell, is a naval officer, married, with the cutest twin boys. I have a three-year-old puppy named Liam who takes walks with me every day after school. I was lucky enough to grow up with both of my parents, and I grew up on a street where I’ve made lifelong friends. I am a very happy-go-lucky girl who finds the bright side of every situation. My positivity will be paired with the perfect occupation once I go to college to become a Pediatric Nurse. Being sick or hurt and having to stay inside a hospital for days, weeks, or even months can make anyone depressed, so I hope that I can spread joy on the last days of the lives of children. By the end of the school year, I am going to be a volunteer EMT and hopefully also have a paying job. After high school, I plan on attending college at Fairleigh Dickenson, Ramapo, or Villanova. The power of language is how, when, and what someone is saying and who is speaking. The tone, mood, time and place have a way of changing how something is heard. Besides verbal language, body language has a lot to do with how something is interpreted. The power of language affects society because the media talks about a topic but the actual event or situation is manipulated to get a

In Honors English (3rd and 5th), ask students to turn in yesterday’s assignment. They have a test on “A Problem” today, so they should log into their pearson accounts online and take the test. I will check their scores and put them in Skyward asap. Once their test is finished please have them read pages 78-79 in the literature book. The power of words is immeasurable. Words help people to voice their opinions and express their thoughts and feelings. Our everyday lives are shaped by communication and in general language. A persons language can often influence success and happiness. America is viewed as a melting pot for numerous different people and their respective languages. Language is so vital in our society that a person of diverse ethnic background can face many tribulations throughout their everyday life.
English language techniques are used in many writings to help the readers to have a better understanding and for the writers to express more. It is also same for an argumentative writing. In this particular essay, the writer had used language techniques to persuade readers that Australia should not become a republic country. This essay will discuss about what kind of language techniques the writer had used to persuade the readers that the writer’s opinion is correct.
The author describes the purpose for masking sex scenes in literature is to make it a more symbolic event. Simply describing two people taking part in intercourse does not reveal as much as “hidden” intercourse. The author states that coded sex scenes are “more intense than literal depictions.” This may be due to the fact that the words needed to describe the event taking place would be the most intense words. The scene needs to have the same air and effect that intercourse does. Writers take ordinary everyday events and intensifies them in order to get to the intimate level of intercourse. Literal intercourse in literature does not have the same effect as coded intercourse because everyone expects the intercourse as it already is describing.
The five-minute warning bell goes off. I rush to my first class of my junior year, eager to see my classmates, who I was going to spend the rest of the 9 months with. I find myself stumbling into a classroom plastered with decorations of Denzel Washington with a Dr. Seuss book in his hand, a t and college flags galore. My AP English 11 class suddenly seemed so appealing to me. As a beautiful, curly haired short lady stood in front of me and said “Welcome to AP English 11,” I knew that I had found a treasure so much greater than just a pretty classroom. Little did I know, that short lady was going to inspire me throughout my challenge filled second-to-last year of high school.
In my second block Accelerated English class, I believe that I deserve at least a B based on my behavior, attendance, and participation. I would like to have faith in the idea that my behavior is pleasing and acceptable. For example, I have never gotten a referral both in English class and in school in general. Although I shout out sometimes, I try my best to not let this happen. I have to admit that my attendance isn't the finest, however I attempt to only miss school if I am sick, and if I am sick and/or absent, I make up my work as quick as I can. Finally, I conclude that my participation is superb. I always complete my work and I strive to do everything I can to secure an excellent grade in English. Therefore, based on my behavior, attendance, and participation in English class, I deserve at least a B.
Yet, his education about the hazards that occur in life grew tremendously, as Huck now understands how man’s cruelty towards others are most responsible for the much of the ugliness he encountered. His new found learning still seems a bit twisted to him, however, as the society in which he lives teaches that slavery is lawful while the Bible teaches brotherhood and love. The hypocrisy he comprehends ends up confirming what Huck has valued all along: so-called civility is but a gesture, one which he cannot abide. Thus, Huck goes west in attempts to escape the trappings and dangers of civility; yet, as seen in today’s world, the hypocrisy is inescapable. The west has developed, and with the development, the cruelty, hypocrisy and dangers has risen to even greater heights. In the land of the free and equal, people are shunned because of their ethnicities or religious affiliations; people shoot other people with automatic weapons; homelessness thrives alongside wealth and prosperity. And just as Huckleberry Finn struggled to separate his deformed conscience from his sound heart, humans must wrestle to find compassion in their hearts, reform their consciences, and juxtapose their hearts and consciences to guide them to righteous

I am here to go through some expectations regarding this AP course with you all as Mr. Spencer is away at a conference. The things I will go over are so that you understand what this class is about, specifically as it relates to the advanced placement aspect of it. As this is an AP English class it’s essential for you to have a basic understanding of how you are to structure content in an essay. This means I will explain what makes a strong thesis and how to back it up with a strong argument and rhetoric. All of this being said, I will also give you information on what exactly is generally expected of you in this classroom as a whole.
¨When I placed my burdens an him he washed them all away for me¨ (line 1-2 and 90-91). The song Tempo by KB aka Kevin Elijah Burgess is about freedom and focus. Freedom is lost when religion is involved unless you have the focus to persevere
During the 2015-2016 school year, the Tiger Advanced English classroom consists of students divided into four classes of 24, 25, 25, and 26. There are 53 boys and 49 girls. All students are identified as gifted though each has unique learning needs. We have one legally blind student that has severely decreased hearing in one ear. One of our students uses an FM sound system and another is diagnosed with a visual processing disorder. Eight students have health needs associated allergies/asthma. One has experienced traumatic brain injury and two others have weak immune disorders. And finally, one diabetic student.
The most difficult part of taking the Ap English Literature test was the essay section. Discerning a conversation between both characters in the test and formating a helpful prewrite made it difficult to write the essay with a paragraph per prompt given the 40 minute time limit that should be spent on each essay.
The AP English Lit. exam made me feel so many different emotions. I was extremely anxious, I honestly did not want to take the test. I felt like I was just going to fail anyway, so why bother and take it. I felt as if I was just going to get frustrated and go to sleep; like I always do.
Although I lived in the United States for six years, listening and speaking were not the matter; however, reading and writing English was the most difficult things to improve. Through taking English 100 D/E class, my English writing and reading skills have extremely improved. In the class, we had to read many articles and discuss together with other classmates. I enjoyed having a conversation with my classmates and professor about reading and this also improved my English speaking and listening skills. Some part that I disliked with the seminar, in my opinion, was few students did not participate in the discussion. Seminar is one of the great opportunities to understand better and get some more informations that I might never think about it;
