My book report was on The Apple Tart of Hope, written by Sarah Moore Fitzgerald. The main conflict in the book was when the main character, Oscar, was being bullied by this new girl, Paloma, which made everyone not like him so he attempted to end his life. My idea to solve this problem was to create a bake sale for Oscar to operate and bake for. A bake sale would force him to bake apple tarts, which he loves to do and it would help him calm down. Calming down would help him rethink his decisions so he doesn’t make bad choices. There are five different steps that I had to follow throughout this book project. The first step of the process is empathy where I gathered evidence for my conflict. I think I should’ve added more evidence at first. The second step of the process is define where I needed to create …show more content…
For the needs, I had to use many verbs to help describe the issue. For the insights, I needed to dig deeper and think about their feelings and perspective so I have more ideas to create my prototype. The third step of the process is ideate where I needed to think of five different ideas to help solve the problem when I prototype it. The five different ideas that I had were a lie detector, the guidance counselor, a diary, talk to Paloma’s parents, and an apple tart bake sale. Like I said before, I chose the apple tart bake sale. Also, during this stage I needed to brainstorm ideas of how I will prototype it, how it will look, and how it will operate. The fourth step is prototype where I needed to construct a 3D object that would help solve the problem. During this step I needed to come up with different ideas of how to construct my prototype such as the color, size, details, etc. After prototype comes feedback where I would go back to my user and see what I would need to

disagree with? Of those you disagree with, which ones seem strong enough that you need to ACKNOLEDGE them in your text? Are there any disagreements among your source? Are any themes you see in more than one source?” (458) More likely what is going to come out of these questions is a mixture of ideas and understandings of the topic that is going to help to become the basis of our ideas and what we are going to said about the topic (The Norton Field Guide to Writing). When you trying to synthesize ideas for your research take notes (The Norton Field Guide to Writing). You may find that identifying connections among your sources is easier if you examine them together rather than reading them one by one. For example, taking notes on note cards and then laying the cards out on a desk or table (or on the floor) lets you see the passages that seen related.”(459) When we start reading and thinking about our topic, we will start to understand the concepts and controversies relating to our topic, that is when we become aware that there is a larger conversation going on. Then we begin to see our own place in that conversation, and discover our own ideas, our own stance on your topic (The Norton Field Guide to

With every aspect of our lives we are making a point, arguing a belief, or refuting some other aspect of our existence. Aesthetic pieces, most avidly poems and songs, argue a message both in the lyrics and in the meaning posed between the lines. “American Pie,” in a multitude of ways, argues that American lives and memories are closely intertwined with the music of the time period. Not only does “American Pie” argue a message it also pulls many generations together. Today, thirty years after the initial release, “American Pie” still has an effect in our music and continues to be popular with all age groups. Don McLean accomplishes this task through using the context of the time period, placement of words, the words
Upon completing the novel I realized I will be frustrated with my students at times and will need to remember that there is always a reason for a behavior. My reaction to the behavior will be a very important piece in the relationship I build with my student.
I build my first draft of my vision after the three components what, why and how.
The learning activity chosen is for year 3 students, having the children chose a book they have read and enjoyed and get them to write up a book report detailing the Main characters, what happens at the start of the book, middle of the book and at the end along with the child’s personal connection with the book, what they think may happen to the characters after the story has finished and if they like the book or not and if they would recommend it to others. They will need to use the form provided to describe the main characters in the books and give an overview of what happens in the start, middle and end of the book. The children will also be required to explore the personal connection they have with the book and what they thought of the
Battling through life with conflict is often one of the main problems adolescents have to surpass. Conflict implies many difficulties that may harm ones dignity. This is visible in the lives of Charlie Hall in Emory’s Gift by William Bruce Cameron and Saul Indian Horse in Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese. Conflict makes the protagonists stronger as it allows them to boost their flexibility, mature, and build up their self-esteem.
It is a good idea to ask an expert in something or an outside reference in order to help you paint a picture in your book using specific ideas that are not familiar to you
The strategies I did in order to fully prepare myself for this task is read through the theme and the plot for the book and watch the movie understanding what is the story line in the movie. Discussing with my friends about is there any movie can compare with the book. At the beginning, I’m really interested about For today I am a boy this book because this story is different than the other book that I read before. After read the book I thought I can compare the book with similar movie which talking about the boy wants to be a girl or girls wants to be a boy this kind of movie after that my friend recommend the movie Karate Kid which is totally different story line movie. But when I comparing the two main characters, they both have similar points. So I start writing down the similar points and go back to watch the movie and read the book again for finding more details and points. During the conference, my theme and three points was not make any sense. Mr. Tran discuss with me and makes the new theme and new three points.

Would you put your own life at risk to save someone else? What if they had a low chance of survival, and it was likely that the both of you would die? Many people would say yes. Ultimately, one has to look at this situation through the lense of an ethics approach, and which one is best for the situation. The short story “Bread” by Margaret Atwood describes different ethical dilemmas in which the reader is given different scenarios in which they must make a choice that can only come by deciding what their ethics are. Five different ethical approaches are described in the article “A Framework for Thinking Ethically”, which describes the meaning of ethics and the different viewpoints surrounding the topic. Out of these different approaches highlighted in “A Framework for Thinking Ethically”, the utilitarian approach along with the virtue approach would be best for solving the dilemmas presented in “Bread”.
The Canadian Aeronautics Administration (CAA) has commissioned two contracting companies, Hollenbeck Aircraft and Eskina Software Systems, to build a set of giant robotic arms known as Retractable Extended-Arms Compatible Holder, or REACH, for the International Space Station. The REACH project has a deadline of six years. It has been noted that under normal circumstances the project would take around 10 years but there are time constraints due to political pressure in the form of threats to cut funding to the CAA and deadlines for construction on the space station itself. The time constraints have been of the utmost importance to the project. But, while the contractors have maintained the deadlines,

It has been said that life can never be carried out and truly lived to its fullest unless there has been some sort of suffering and pain. Mistakes are to be learned from, and a hard past can only result in a stronger present. Though many might find themselves alone in their misery the truth is they are not, everyone has struggles. We all have our ups and downs, but it is how we react to them that truly matters. Life is life and no matter what, giving up on lifelong dreams and aspirations because of a few bumps in the road should never be an option.
