Virtual Reality/Video Games and Kids The world of virtual reality is loved by people who are fan of video games. However, the main victims to get so deeply absorbed in this kind of world are children (as young as 7 years old). It is easy for young minds to become addicted to something they are possibly not yet ready for; especially screens and consoles. Video games are not good for kids because it isolates them from real life, could encourage violent behaviors and ideas, and chips away at their social skills. Children could spend the whole day sitting in one place and be perfectly happy with a device. The bad thing is that the majority of them become unaware of their surroundings because they are too hypnotized by what is being held in their hands. Most children are very easy to entertain, but entertainment should not be provided by video games. When he or she becomes addicted to video games, they probably might rather stay in one place on their electronics instead of experiencing real life. Childhood is when kids are slowly learning the differences between reality and fantasy. If a child is not mature enough, and if he or she is exposed to video games at that age, then it might be difficult for them to differentiate fantasy from reality. Fantasy is usually fun, so a child might rather believe that what they see in a video game will happen in real life. Kids are like sponges, so when they take in all of what they see into their minds, it’s going to stay there for a while. With that said, not all video games are filled with sunshine and happiness. Typically, the popular video games involve violence. Once again, a child can take in what they see and believe in it. Therefore, kids could mimic what they have observed, and sometimes those actions and thoughts are not what a person would want to see. For instance, the character in the game they play is under their control. They might even see themselves within that certain character, which might not be a good thing. To solve a conflict or ‘achieve’ something, one might have to solve it with violence. Subconsciously, it could teach a child that in order to get what they want outside of a video game, they could possibly win with aggression. Not only might the
