Oh art lovers! Wherefore art thou art lovers? The question throughout the survey we gave to friends and family and The 2012 Survey of Public Participation, all left me asking that same question. Where are all the art lovers going that had been around in previous years? Looking at the data from both graphs its evident in my eyes that the reason for this drop in art lovers is the education and home life that is built into the mindset. When children go to school and do not have an art or music program it is teaching its students that those subjects aren’t important enough to spend their time or money on. Many schools are cutting art and music programs leaving people with less appreciation because they aren’t able to experience it. In homes growing up some families don’t talk or value art as much as they do reading or math causing another drop in interest for art. It’s apparent in both surveys that the problem is significant but then I would suppose a decade ago when the educational institutions valued art therefore parents might have valued art which led the kids too as well. When funding got cut kids became less aware about art and less appreciative about it those kids would become parents and teach their children the exact same thing and the school would only back the fact that art is not as important since no funding or time is going into learning it. If school funds were used to maintain the art classes, the musicals held at school, and the band and choir, I think that
