We chose The Assassin’s Challenge over all the other ideas discussed in the beginning because we determined that this was the most effective and engaging idea. The game would have the lowest cost and be the most active and engaging. It would create a wary environment around the school and at some points could cause complete and utter chaos to ensue, which would be fun for everybody as long as everybody follows the rules and nobody gets hurt. With all that said, the question we ask is: Will our chosen social epidemic, The Assassin’s Challenge, have that spontaneous, “spreads like wildfire” moment when something tips, and will our game garner the interest and participation of at least one-fifth of the high school population at Odyssey to prove
The subject of the book “The Midnight Assassin” by Skip Hollandsworth is focused on uncovering the truth behind who is truly at fault for the murders of Mollie Smith and, several other victims. The murders occurred in Austin, Texas during the 19th century. Based on the first three chapters, three prominent characters have been introduced. All three characters are currently prime suspects. At the time, Austin was a prestigious town, equipped with the finest law enforcement made first hand by god himself, the Texas Rangers. When the young yellow skinned slave Mollie Smith was murdered, terror truly struck Austin. News reporters from all over Texas came to cover the story, thus creating conspiracies about each suspect. Evaluation of each suspect and their motives to perpetrate such a gruesome murder-Walter Spencer, a hardworking slave, who had never done any harm; Tom Chalmers, the brother of the land owner where the murder took place; Lastly, Dr. Ralph Steiner, the esteemed doctor.
Students can develop important values and skills, like teamwork, strategies, and sportsmanship. The teens had to work together with their group of four or less to be able to get all the “kills” on their hit list. They also have to come up with innovative ideas to trick their peers into being able to be “killed.” Finally, they have to have sportsmanship in order to accept their “death”. As the text states,”Initially, each team of up to four students is given only the identities of its immediate prey. All other players are anonymous, so that in the days leading up to the game the school becomes a souk of intelligence-gathering and disinformation. In 2007, Jake Protell, a freshman, distinguished himself by ferreting out the itinerary of a field trip that two targets were taking to Tel Aviv. Protell took a car to Newark Airport, found the victims before they passed through security, and dispatched them using two bathtub ‘squirt fish.’” and,”At 10:30 p.m. on a Wednesday, three of the four seniors, armed with Walgreens-issue water pistols, staked out Cohen’s house in a blue Toyota minivan. The idea was to use a cell phone to call the Cohens’ landline, posing as Cohen’s teammate Dominic, using Dominic’s caller I.D. The call had been engineered from a remote computer by a squad member with prodigious hacking skills.” This illustrates the level of strategery that is placed into the game. The game players produce innovative ideas to trick their “prey” into being able to be targeted. It also illustrates how team members rely on one another in order to complete the objectives of the game. Teammates of Jake Protell had to trust that he would kill their two targets. The teammates of the hacker had to ask him to get William Cohen in the proper position to get shot. This is important because the skills of
The assassination role play game played at St.Ann’s private school and other American schools is a fun learning experience for kids. At the end of the school year, high school students in groups complete “assassinations” assigned to them by a judge. The harmless “assassinations” are done by shooting the opponent with a water gun. This continues until only one team remains and they are rewarded with the winner's pot that each team contributed twenty dollars too. This organised and safe game should be allowed to continue and is a great lesson for kids.
The columbine shooting shocked the world and having the blame on video games was one of the reasons why these kids did this. In this article it talks about the tragic event that took place on April 20, 1999 a couple of teenagers who were being bullied throughout high school came to school and went on a killing rampage taking out everyone they can see. This article also talks about the background behind why these teenagers would do such a horrible thing and this made a lot of people aware about how these teenagers even got a chance to get a hold
In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s Europe was becoming a tinder box for a possible great war. Every country was extremely determined on spreading their empires. Additionally they began to form alliances, France with England and Germany with Austria-Hungry. Then on June 28th 1914 a Bosnian-Serb nationalist assassinated the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife practically igniting Europe and the world into a massive war. This assassination was viewed as an act of war and Russia came in to assist their ally Serbia. Germany naturally had to declare war on Russia to help Austria-Hungry. France and England then joined in to assist Russia.
In the short story by Richard Connell, The Most Dangerous Game, Sanger Rainsford finds himself in a sticky situation when he meets General Zaroff. General Zaroff is a very talented hunter and had become tired of hunting the same old animals as always, they bored him as he explained in the story, he had now moved on to the best prey he could find, a prey that could fight and think for themselves, and that prey was humans. Rainsford is taken aback by this confession and is alarmed, he asks Zaroff to let him go, but Zaroff has other plans. In order for Rainsford to get off the island alive he must survive three full days on the island while being hunted by General Zaroff. Rainsford agrees, knowing that if declines this choice his life would have a much more unpleasant future. And so the the hunt began, but Rainsford had some tricks up his sleeve.
Some people think kids shouldn’t play violent role playing games because they think it gets kids to stalk other kids, but i think it’s good because it promotes teamwork, strategy, and espionage, all three of which will help the student in the future. At St. Ann's high school a game lasts two and a half weeks and has built up a seventeen-point rule book, a map of the safe zones around the school, a judge, and an entry fee, all for a harmless water pistol game. In the end this was all just about Killer, a last-man-standing game of water-pistol ambush, just because people considered it a violent role playing game even though it teaches the kids a lot and is just a water pistol game and if you still disagree with me go out out and try it for yourselves
There has been a lot of disagreements on teenagers play violent role playing games. Some people say it’s distracting for teenagers to play violent role playing games and some say it helps them. The assassin is a popular game that was developed in 2003 by Warren Gerstacker. It is now a popular game that is also played in Brooklyn Private School. If you ask me, I say it is good. Nicholas Kilstein stated “Students either became creative or was already creative because of assassin.” First of all, violent role playing games helps students in the future for jobs and colleges. Second of all, violent role playing games motivate and encourage students to work together. Lastly, violent role playing games help students learn smarts that aren’t taught in school. Teenagers should be able to play violent role playing games because it builds creativity.
along the left side of it. Right on queue, the car drove over the nail
The Assassins are a Shiite-Ismailite sect that used to spread fear and panic in the Near and Middle East for more than one century. They did carry out political murders with as much publicity as possible and therefore they are compared with terrorists. But there's one big difference - they never carried out their murders indiscriminately, but rather always selectively. Today, we can hear the term modern-day Assassins and that's the reason for making this historical review trying to find resemblance between the assassins and the terrorists.
This opinion article will explore and develop the ideas expressed by Bowling for Columbine, how is this topic important on a world scale and make the viewer rethink his or her ideas.
First and foremost, the students can be incapacitated and/or get in trouble playing this game. While running around, one is focused on surviving and killing, so they may become oblivious to their surrounding, making elimination seem like the better option. While running around, they could easily walk into a street, and not notice a car, or if one searching for their target in a car, they’re focused on the target, not the street. This puts them and others around them in danger. One example of a bad idea is that four seniors had waited in a van outside a 15-year-old's house. This looks suspicious to onlookers, and they could have been reported. If the authorities had driven by and saw silhouettes of multiple pistols, the outcome... wouldn’t be very nice. If worse came to worse; and the cop had checked out the suspicious activity, it’s highly unlikely they would take the response, “We are waiting for this kid to come out his house,” or “We are waiting for our target,” very lightly; All while in a van(s). Of course, it may be the worse case scenario, but it is definitely possible.
To prepare ourselves for an intensive session, we warmed up with a trust based game called “Assassin” in which each person chose one bodyguard and one assassin secretly. At first, the exercise appeared to be quite orderly yet as soon as a blackout was used – panic was tangible in the air because everyone had lost their bodyguard or assassin. Furthermore, the task allowed
The responders were asked to check all that applied to them and were presented with the options: email, morning announcements, advisory, flyers, friends/other people, and other. Keeping in mind that the time of their registration may have affected how they heard of the game, our group members collected the following data. From sending out mass emails to our target audience of the high school population of OI, we reached 86 out of the 112 registries this way. Then, 13 out of 112 people said they heard about the Assassin’s Challenge through morning announcements done by Audra and Kinzy on Tuesday and Wednesday. 21 people said they had heard of our game through the advisory announcement put into the sophomore and junior powerpoints shown Monday mornings. Only 14 people who had registered had heard of our game through flyers which were in halls and buildings used by high schoolers. Our second largest form of advertisement was from the audience itself, 59 people said that they had heard about our game from friends or other people. That’s over half the amount of registries being informed through the power of word-of-mouth communication. Then a final 12 responses saying they had heard of the Assassin’s Challenge through other means. This data concludes that mass emails and word-of-mouth communication were the two most effective means of advertising, supporting Gladwell’s
