It also said that most “Young Outsiders” generally favor the Republican party rather than the Democratic Party, with unfavorable opinions of both. They also differ from “Steadfast Conservatives” and “Business Conservatives” in environmental and social issues usually. During the political typology quiz the questions with the hardest choices to make for me were about the government providing financial help to the poor and how much the government should be involved in foreign affairs. These questions were the hardest for me because I find myself falling in the middle instead of veering radically to one side. An example of this is that I believe the government should provide some federal funding to the needy but to a certain extent. Also I’m completely ignorant when it comes to the government’s involvement with other countries and the effects it has on the United States so I’m looking forward on learning more about this during the semester.

In this course I have learned about different social problems in societies worldwide. Some of these include poverty, social inequality, discrimination of race and culture, urbanization, and more. After learning all these subjects and more, I have decided to do my final on social inequality and minorities in the United States. I chose this particular topic because I have seen this in almost every place have lived. I find it appalling that minorities are still not treated 100% equal. We as Americans know what inequality is and know how it is used in our everyday society. I want to explore this topic and show how real and big this
“Twenty-first-century election campaigns are structure to garner the most favorable media exposure reaching the largest number of prospective supporters, with the greatest degree of candidate control over the message”. (Dunaway & Graber 2009. Pg. 315) Media in regards to political advertising is much more narrower. Some candidates are primarily interested in voters who preference the outcome of the race instead of the process of the election. Before Bernard Sanders entered the race he was only known to the politically interested folk in Vermont where he holds a Senatorial position. How was he able to go from an unknown state Senator to a major political candidate, the answer is simple, Heresthetic. Senator Sanders controlled the agenda by reaching younger, college-aged voters, in which he kept the conversation interesting. His agenda is the same as any other candidate, to become the President, but he focused on issue that affect the lives of many young Americans. Specifically, Black Lives Matter and the legalization of Marijuana, through holding the interest of young voters and thus establishing the leverage that a weaker candidate would need, he was able to satisfy manipulating the dimensions and strategic voting much more
In the writing by Briggs (Young People and Political Participation: Teen Players) she notes that “social media are a critical new space for political discourse and engagement, which political institutions cannot afford to neglect” as the younger audiences use social media, and the people they follow as a guide it seemed vital that modern day politics has to infiltrate social media formats. This can be utilised by politicians and their agenda to widen the scope of their message. In the Praeger Handbook of Political Campaigning in the United States, Benoit investigates how successful an organised strategy using new media to win an election can be for political candidates. He states that “the innovative use of new media contributed to President Barack Obama's presidential campaign win in 2008” (Benoit, 2016). Obama's presidential campaign was one of the first to set the standard for political strategy online. The literature talks about the expansion of the internet and how that has provided a suitable platform for political agendas to grow exponentially. With the focus of the research project highlighting the specific use of social media it is important to reflect on the initial stages of online political campaigning, and to understand how Trump has cultivated this style of political
The society in which Americans live in today, is in certain aspects far more complex than it ever was for our ancestors. This new complexity is seen on both a micro and macro level and everything that falls in between. Perhaps American society is inherently more complex due to the fact that most if not every societal problem that is encountered, tends to gear towards a political nature in the method of solving. It seems that Americans no longer abide by the do it yourself mentality, and as times goes by we as a people look to the government leaders to solve our problems when they are beyond our capabilities, not realizing that in doing so we also bestow the power upon them to make decisions for society as a whole. When you have an issue
