I have two Associates degrees and my goal now is to work my way through a Bachelor's in Psychology and on to a graduate degree.I enjoy people. I hope to have my own business one day. In the meantime, I enjoy helping others in my own unique way without the psych degree. Over the years I've enjoyed volunteering for the Humane Society, Horse Rescue, and Food
have a lot of ambitions for myself, including going to a university and having a family. I dream of traveling the world and either volunteering, studying or working before settling down and starting a life. I have always seen myself working some sort of branch of psychology, such as therapy, counseling, or rehabilitation. I feel as though in whatever I do, I want to be a place of comfort and reliability; a safe haven for someone in
The human mind and behaviors are what interest me the most. That’s why I'm so passionate about helping others help themselves. The human service field is my home, the only place where I could see myself having an enjoyable career. I can't wait to branch out and put my education to use. Having a spirit as big as mines this is the perfect field for me to be going into and I can't wait for the day when I'm working as a mental health psychologist.
Helping people has become who I am as a person. That's why I really like Psychology, it not only allows me to help others, but it also gives me a chance to understand why people do what they do, which I also find very interesting. For example we all know about the Nature vs Nurture debate , and the fact that nobody can fully decide which is the winning side; although I am on the nurture side. I wanna understand why this is a debate and why people are the way they are. PR however, is something I only just started showing in interest in after a grade 11 English project. During this time in university I want to get a nice job at a tiny cafe on a street close to my school, and serve coffee and muffins all day. Once I graduate university I want to get a job asap, but not at a tiny cafe, but at a psychology office, whether it's answering phones or shadowing a real life psychologist. I also often think of traveling the world in order to learn different cultures and how culture and different environments affects someone's
I hope to become an occupational therapist after I finish college. I always knew that I wanted to do something with people that involved helping them. I hope to provide support for those who believe that the things they used to do are now impossible. I want to be the person who helps them see that those things are possible, and they just need some help getting there. I also want to be the type of therapist who lets their patients know that whenever they need help I will be there to assist them. People feel hopeless if they are not able to do the things they always could, but I want to take that feeling and make it blossom into the wonderful feeling that hope can bring. People deserve to be happy in their bodies, and they should not feel ashamed
What I planning to be, I don’t even need to go to college. Not all people can become this kind of person though. I am planning to be a peer specialist which is a type of mental health professional. Not all people can qualify to be a peer specialist. Only certain people can be a peer specialist because of what they do. To be a peer specialist you must go through therapy for your own problems you had and you have to have recovered. I went to a psych ward 3 times in a year span and I recovered. I always wanted to help people who have gone through what I went through and I found what it was called and how to be one.
One of my many goals in life, since I was younger, was to major in a profession where I can change the world and make it a better place. I want to help people and positively impact their lives. This is when I decided to major in occupational therapy and focus the profession towards youth. Hopefully, I will be able to
For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a mental health therapist. I want to work with kids and help them through whatever they might be going through. I want to be able to talk about what it is like to have a mental health issue.
After finishing this degree, I would love to work for a nonprofit organization that provides mental health services to inner city communities and seeks to dismantle the stigma surrounded by mental illness. If such an organization does not exist, I have considered starting one of my own. All things considered, I want to be a part of changing people’s views on mental illness and support disadvantaged communities brought down by a system with many forms of stigma. I want to provide the support that my parents never received to families and individuals alike. Eventually down the road, I would also like to teach at a university to educate individuals like me who want to make a difference in the world of mental
To sum up, I plan to become a mental health counselor to help others with their emotional challenges. I plan to help people become mentally well, to get better day by day, and to get the support that they need and deserve. My plans remind me of a quote that I heard recently that struck a chord with me, “my life needs a plan, not a promise.” With that, I will carry out my plans. Thank you for your
Ultimately, I wanted to become a Physical Therapist. I had always put myself in this box, I told myself that I could never be good at math or science, and to stick with what I was good at, which was art. My confined boundaries now broadened to greater pursuits. All it takes is a positive attitude and practice to develop any skill you could fathom. My physical therapist, Deron Ramos was a great influence. He did his job with finesse and he had a sense of humor that could ease even the most painful myofascial massage. I aspired to one day be as great at him, and I saw that if you are passionate about something, you can master it. My seven months in rehab enlightened me to how movement dictates our lives. My once disdain for running had now transformed into the desire to run; I was walking, then jogging, and finally running. I was in such great physical shape that I even ran in my leisure. Physical therapy not only imposes physical change on people, but it also changes
I want to be a psychiatrist. My whole career goal is to work with teenage girls and go towards the psychiatric unit or pediatric medical care services. I know what it’s like to have no one there for me who truly understands what I am going through. If one doctor or one psychiatrist would have been through these experiences and shared them with me, then things would have looked better in my eyes. My outlook on life and recovery would have been a lot different and more lively. I know I want to be that light and helpful crutch to help my
I am interested in the career of accounting. Currently, I am taking classes to obtain an associate’s degree in accounting. To advance in the career of accounting, there are many certificates, certifications, and trainings that could be beneficial to my future in the career. A decent position and career in accounting could be obtained with an associate’s degree, but my goal is to become a certified public accountant or CPA. To become a CPA, having a bachelor’s degree in an accounting program would be the best start for me to becoming a certified public accountant. The state of Mississippi requires that a person seeking to obtain a CPA license have 150 semester hours of education and one year general experience of accounting and auditing skills,
I first became interested in psychology a couple years ago. I feel like I need to try and help make a difference, and that's what I would like to spend the rest
This entry describes online Associate’s Degree (AD) programs in the United States, and explores reasons for the recent popularity of such degrees. The difficulties in establishing public-private partnerships designed to deliver ADs are also discussed. Finally, we consider cross-cultural equivalents of the online Associate’s Degree.
When I graduated from high school, I was admitted at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I enrolled in the School of Business. My major was Accounting. I did so to please my parents and what I thought would be the best fit. I was not very happy, and I must confess that I was bored to death. After two years of studying something that I did not like, I changed my focus to School of Social Work. I was taking elective classes in Social Work/Mental Health Counseling and realize that this field held my interest and really represented how I viewed myself and the world. I was out from College for 5 years. Working with the Department of Social Services and numerous nonprofit organizations. For the last 5 years I have been working as a Social Worker for Department of Social Service Child Protective Service Investigator. I actual love my job because it is customer (client) oriented and I got to practice my counseling skills indirectly and directly with my clients I encounter on an daily
