Confessions by St. Augustine takes readers on a journey to find spiritual awakening. This journey will take time and lessons that are learned will be life changing. With a praying mother and a heavenly father in his corner the only thing that could stop his conversion was Augustine. From a young boy to a man, Augustine had a secret weapon, a mother that loved and prayed for his soul. No matter what may come, having a pray warrior is something that all people who are searching for spiritual guidance needs. St Augustine does not find God on his own he has help with this journey. When confessing to God all sins that have been committed by man, he is faithful and just and forgives the unrighteousness.
In Augustine’s autobiography, Confessions, his sinful nature is the theme. St Augustine is a man that is dealing with his sinful nature and how he loved the act of sinning. One example is his fierce desire for doing whatever felt good to him. He recalls that, “I sank to the animal in a succession of dark lust: my beauty consumed away” (p. 1118). Since the beginning of time man has had a weakness with sin, even knowing that these acts are unpleasant to God, they still take a foothold in man’s walk. This momentary act pleasure will cost a lifetime of pain. Another example of sin would be when he stole pears from a nearby orchard.
