Augustine's Evil A By-Product Of Good Creation?

In this quote, Augustine suggests that evil is a by-product of good. Reiterating from the previous vocabulary exercise, Augustine believes that God did not create evil matter but placed good in the universe; so therein provokes the question: how is evil complimentary to a fundamentally good creation? That is the concept that Augustine wants answers to. We all perceive the good in any creation, but only amongst ourselves do we deduct what’s evil to us; however we don’t know when the matter of good becomes evil.
