Nowadays, following a high- level economic growth, food safety has become more and more important in personal daily life, even it is a stable element for every country. How people choose the safety food from market has become more satisfied for the public, especially when people face on the multiple types of food. In recently years, GMOs food was constantly in the media spotlight. Overuse of roundup results in “super weeds”, resistant to herbicide. This is causing farmers to use even more toxic herbicide every year. However, it not only creates this environmental harm. GMOs foods contain higher residues of toxic herbicides which means it has highly possibility been absorbed in to human body by eating GMO food. Although people ask if it is safe for human and animal consumption, they continue to do it without really knowing the consequences. Scientists and farmers use poisonous herbicides inside crops and foods. GMO’s are also the reason for “super weeds” and “super bugs” which can only be killed with more toxic poisons. Although the long-term effects for eating and using GMO’s are unknown, humans should exercise caution.
Genetically modified crops are harmful to humans and the environment and shouldn't be used. Agriculture should proceed in harmony with nature and nature only. That is why some people have decided to buy organically grown food. From their experiences with organic food, they believe that the organic system can be economically practical. Michelle states that “according to research published in the Archives of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, Scientists found that the genetically-modified corn was linked to liver and kidney damage in animal” (Schoffro). In other words what Michelle is saying is that there is proof that GMOs could cause some damage to the animal’s organs. These so called GMOs are modified genetically so that they can produce their own pesticides and therefore they are immune to any plague. Studies show that some of those pesticides are toxic to humans. Some of those toxins are the Bt-toxin and Roundup Ready which are now found in corn, cotton and soybeans.
