Participating in band and choir has had a huge impact on my life. Being a part of both of them has been extremely rewarding. Practicing a musical piece over a certain period and then being able to perform it in front of many groups of people never fails to satisfy me. Whether I am playing the snare drum at a parade in Minneapolis or singing the National Anthem at a volleyball game, having the ability to share my musical talents with others is something I will value for the rest of my life.
Being a 4 year varsity basketball participant, I have been awarded the Leading Assist:Turnover Ratio Award for 3 years in a row. During my past 3 seasons in softball I have been awarded Most Improved my freshman year, and as a junior I awarded outstanding defense and was named 2nd team all conference. Having a remarkably successful tennis career, I was fortunate enough to make it to state as a doubles team my junior and senior year, and during our senior year, we were also able to come out as conference champions. It was an honor to be a captain of the tennis team this year.

I will never regret playing sports, as they have all taught me valuable life lessons. Without being an athlete I never would have known the true definition of teamwork, dedication and discipline. Having the ability to teach younger kids how to play a sport is also a rewarding part of knowing how to play sports. I have been able to help little girls at their first basketball camps and I have also been able to teach my nieces how to hit a softball, and nothing has been more satisfying than
One of the activities that I took part in that I feel has shaped me as a person, was basketball. I joined the Sea Point High basketball team in the tenth grade, in South Africa. Now basketball was not very popular in South African high schools, as such we lost our coach in my junior year. The choices that were given to the team was to either end the program or to continue without a coach. As team captain I rallied my teammates and we persevered through without a coach; we showed up for intensive training and competed against other schools. At the end of my senior year I was presented with the basketball player of the year; however I feel that award did not necessarily celebrate my skill in the sport, but it acknowledged the determination and
During my 11th grade year in cross country, I received a medal for running both at sectionals and state for my team. Additionally, my senior year I have also received a medal at region placing fifth and at school. During my participation in soccer I have been awarded with the Varsity Letter A and "Magnificent Midfielder". Also during my participation in FBLA I placed at region in a competitive event earning a medal.

I gave 100% of my time and hard work to my team, coach, and community. It was a hobby I love and continue too. No matter if it was basketball or softball, I had support behind me through teammates, coach, friends, family, school system, and community. I gained strengths in teamwork, communication, and life lessons. A life lesson could include the dedication I had toward a goal. I knew if I showed character, leadership, and skill of the game then I could have more potential of growing as a person and athlete for my future.
The most important activity I have done in my high school career is chorus. During school hours, we spend time preparing for concerts, and outside of school we have rehearsals, performances, extracurricular choirs, and concert tours in which we devote much of our time.
Art has undoubtedly become a decisive aspect of our culture; embedded in the way we learn and grow on a daily basis. Art forms such as music, television and dance dominate our society as an outlet of freedom of speech for humanity. The evolution of music has rapidly exceeded its original classifications, developing new genres with greater appeal to an audience, hence its influence on society has expedited. In recent times, lyrics (specifically rap lyrics) have been introduced into the court room as a form of documented confessional evidence, evidently challenging law’s authoritative nature. This essay will closely follow the genre of rap and its relationship with law, through cases based in the United States of America (USA). In addition, the trial of Simon Bikindi in Rwanda and Smith v The Queen will be used to form an acute analysis on the influencing factors of relevance, identity, freedom of speech and current constitutional law.

Lastly, being in band has made a great impact in my life because, I love it, I love music, and I enjoy being in something bigger than myself. I love the feel when each individual comes together to be part of something bigger than oneself. My main example would be marching band, due to all the individuals that it takes to make an entire show. Over two hundred and fifty individuals are asked to do various of tasks but at the end it is all worth it because, after every show or performance each individual will put all they have onto that field. Not only do I enjoy being in something bigger than myself but I also have a passion for music. Ever since I was little I was always interested in music and I wanted to play an instrument so when I got into
My music has helped me develop my life, by letting me learn a different language. Learning music started with my sister. She started out on flute. I swore up and down that I would never be in band. Music has helped me with stress. Band and the people in it have formed me into who I am today. Most music genres are soothing. I plan on being in marching
I am a student who is devoted in academics and my family. In addition, my other passion is singing and playing instruments. Singing has been a big part in my life growing up. It taught me how to comprehend music and it helped me develop the English language. Music uses words that are poetic that can communicate with the listener in a deeper level. Obtaining music in my life has grew my language skills and
Joining 4th grade band- It was rewarding, because I was able to skip chorus and go to band.
Band has impacted my life in many ways, from allowing me to compete, to becoming a leader, or requiring me to manage my class and practice, times it has made me a better person. These impacts have occurred through many of my activities, but with band it is different. Partially because band allows you to be a team player while also allowing you to be a solo performer. When I first started in band I did not think that I would become so involved. However, as time continued I became more interested in my involvement with band. Leading me to participate in multiple honor bands, solo and ensemble competitions, and become an officer. Because of my current involvement, I have developed many necessary skills for life, such as time management, discipline,
Since the eighth grade I have been involved in choir in some way. I love it so much and and spent countless hours dedicated to my favorite thing in the world. My favorite part about it was show choir; the singing, the dancing, I was exstatic and always felt like I had found the place where I belong.
The greatest positive influence I have made has been due to my presidency in the Choir Program. Being choir president was my goal for three years, propelled by admiration of the other presidents before me. As president, I have given my all to heighten the standards of the choir program. I have instilled my own music theory lessons, giving self-created worksheets and quizzes to the program and teaching lessons that have less emphasis by the director such as sight reading. I dedicate my time to learning warm ups and teaching methods to engage my peers by going to vocal lessons individually from an outside source. Additionally, I strive to improve myself so that I may be reliable to my program; I desire to teach my peers to sing correctly and
Throughout the history of mankind, music has existed in an irremovable capacity in our existence. It has pervaded through every culture, every country and even through the deepest reaches of the dark void of space. Music has also existed in every religion known to the human race. But can music itself be considered a religion in its own right? Music is celebrated and revered by almost all who listen to it, and the health benefits associated with music are growing with every bit of research performed. It would seem appropriate that music would enjoy the status of a major religion, especially since very nearly every art form is bound to music in one way or another, and considering that without music our society as a whole would quite possibly cease to be in its entirety. To get a better idea behind the religion of music and what qualifies it for religious status, a closer look must be taken at three specific points. The music of the religious in terms of history, the music of culture and country, and the music of our daily lives.
