I am aware that this is a very rough outline of my paper. I typically do not write outlines because I find them to be too constricting while I am beginning the writing process. Therefore, I opted to suggest the main points of concession and use this ‘bare boned scaffolding’ as a way to keep me focused on the argument I am trying to make. I typically ‘free-write’ first to get my thoughts on to paper and then I go back and edit and reorganize.
Theories I want to use
• Representation/Expectation of the ‘other’
• Voyeurism/the gaze
• Commodification of culture
• Power of institutions in their ability to shape these influences
• Memory/Collaboration
Case studies (will tie the theories to these)
• Ishi
• Boas’s exhibits
• Buffalo Bill’s Wild West shows (I’m questioning if this relevant or not)
• Couple in the cage
• National Museum of the American Indian
Questions I’m trying to answer (condensed list):
• How are Native Americans represented in exhibits? o In what way does this affect societies understandings of the ‘other’ o In what ways is the ‘other’ talked and written about and ultimately displayed?
• Whose culture is actually on display?
• Who owns native knowledge? (i.e. power dynamics of knowledge)
• What happens with Native Americans talk back? o NAGPRA o How do Native Americans exert influence in museums?
♣ Feelings

o Ideas of the noble savage o How has this been facilitated by museums?
Possible organization strategies
• Use case studies as headings and below the heading describe the characteristics of the display and then use subheadings to connect the theories. I will not necessarily connect all of the theories to each of the displays, just the ones that are most pertinent. Case studies will be arranged in chronological order. I am leaning towards this arrangement of my paper.
• Same as above, but invert it. Use theories as the heading and then use the case studies as examples.

This question requires you to integrate a variety of sources into a coherent, well-written essay. Refer to the sources to support your position; avoid mere paraphrase or summary. Your argument should be central; the sources should support this argument.
* Try to make your points more concise. I had a hard time understanding what the main point of each paragraph was.
To be clear, the intent of this essay is not to argue for or against the content; instead, we are analyzing what the article does in terms of the following:

This paper will not align itself behind a certain view in an attempt to twist the reader’s arm into believing one side is better than the other. It will provide no opinion whatsoever as to which side you should belong to; it will leave the qualities and failings of the argument itself alone.
I think you chose a task that is very fitting for the scaffolding project and I agree with you that it involves all three domains of capabilities with an emphasis on the cognitive aspect. One thing I’d like to mention is that you need to make sure the child does not already know how to sort laundry yet because a 6 year old might already have mastered that.
Briefly present the aim of the article or book chapter and summarize the main findings/key points, along with a limited number of examples. (Wulczyn, 2004)
Another reason that I am ready to pass this class and move on to change the world with my writing is that I know how to effectively and fairly address the viewpoints of others whose ideas may differ from my own on a certain topic while further proving why my argument is more valid. In the paper “Arguing a Position,” I was writing to convince parents to keep their children out of competitive sports until high school so that the children could be spared the health risks and pressure to be the best that competitive sports can bring to everyone involved. In my counterargument paragraph, I conceded to the fact that competitive sports can have physical and social benefits to the children if they are in the sport for a long enough period of time.
Web. 24 Sept. 2016. And when I was conducting the research for these argumentative point for this paper I hadn’t found many other strong argumentative points that I could have worked off of because this subject is somewhat biased due to there being many individuals not knowing enough about the goals of one side or not having all of the facts and
