BC Hydro is a provincial Crown corporation and one of the largest electric utilities in Canada. It is owned by the B.C. government and the people of B.C. Victoria Gas Company was founded in 1860, starting the B.C. Hydro legacy. There mandate is to generate, purchase, distribute and sell electricity (Regulatory Information, 2017). Over the next twenty years, electricity demand will continue to grow by approximately 40 per cent. Therefore, BC Hydro is proposing the Site C project. The Site C project is favorable to our society because it is beneficial to the British Columbia (BC) economy, it is the most efficient option to improve electricity supply and it has the least environmental effect. According to the project summary by BC hydro, the BC’s economy has continued to grow thus bringing in new businesses, residences and industrial activities. Based on the report, the Plan for Project Site C will create employment, and creating over 33,000 jobs. Canada’s unemployment rate is currently on the rise from 6.9 to 7 per cent. From late 1960’s the demand of electricity started to increase and since then, the growth is gradually increasing until now. The population in the province has been growing three million per year since 1965 and it is predicted to keep growing in the future. The population growth causes scarcity of any resource. The Grand Coulee Dam(G.C.D) changed Kettle Falls forever. Kettle Falls was a peaceful river where Native Americans fished every year. It is said that around 3,000 fish were fished every year. Then in 1933, everything changed when the Grand Coulee Dam started construction and finished on June 1, 1942, that is almost a decade. I feel like it is good that we built the Grand Coulee Dam. The Dam has great effects that have benefitted Washington. Two of them are the jobs people got in the Great Depression and Irrigation we got.

The Site C Dam is the most controversial topic of interest. An $8.77 billion dollar project scheduled to be built in British Columbia along the Peace River. A Dam that will provide fresh maintainable energy that results in decreasing hydro bills, and allows jobs for thousands of citizens. However, this is debatable, as it is known that with the growth of our population and technology, power will automatically get reduced.

This writing is on a project that is based around Water. New media, performance, video and sound projection will be used to explore movement and sound associated with water. The work will encompass a guitar with pedal effects and natural sound of water searching for a rhythmic sound and music pattern that represents water, as well as its importance to living and hydrating the human body, Video will also be used to show the contrasting calm and strength of water. The new media work will be titled Drink. For the development process of the work movement and sound of differing amplification was explored that could be representational of or effect water itself, where appropriate the natural sound of water in nature. The St.Lawrence river is a large tourist attraction for northern New York. With invasive species being introduced to the river and the land surrounding they have affected the way the river looks and the species that are in it. Any plant or animal found outside of its normal range is considered to be invasive to the area it is now located. There has been an estimated 163 invasive species that have been discovered in the Great Lakes and the St.Lawrence since the late 1800’s. Of the 163 species that have been unintentionally introduced to the area, 85 of them reside in the St.Lawrence river. The variety of non-native plants and animals in the St.Lawrence river and surrounding land have had a continuing negative effect on the native ecosystem.

A provincial election in British Columbia has never before left so much uncertainty. With such a close vote margin separating the BC Liberals from the BC NDP party, the BC Green party with their 3 seats were seemingly able to shift in power in their favour.
