Balancing study, work, family, and fun is a crucial process into being successful in the nursing program. Balancing time between school and my social life may mean having to sacrifice my social life. If it means that I have to sacrifice my social life for my career choices I will have to be done. My family has taught me that in the long run, you only count with yourself to survive. My goal is to become a successful nurse, and I know there will be long hours of studying to achieve that goal. My family has taught me that school and becoming a nurse should be my top priority. My social life may have to wait till I graduate from the nursing program. In the long run friends and fun may come often but building a career will always stick with you through life. When testing comes up I will deny my privileges of going out with my friend. If I have to sacrifice my social life to become successful I would put my mind to it. I have already in past years denied myself from having a night of fun with friends already. But the only time I really do enjoy my social life is in winter and summer break when finals are done. …show more content…
I will focus on work only on the weekends except when there is a test on monday. If I feel overwhelmed in any kind of way I would have to sacrifice work. Social life is the least important, so when ever I have time to fit fun into my schedule I will. To be successful in becoming a professional nurse I learned that social life has to be sacrificed and
Nursing has become one of the most in-demand jobs in the last years. The reason for the high demand can be defined by the American Nurses Association (ANA) as “. . . nursing is the glue that holds a patients’ health care journey together.” Health field has been a hard-fought competition of requirements since the beginning. The development of the abilities and the rivalry to achieve the same objectives has demanded more diligence for colleagues. Being a professional requires a lot of abilities in whatever field and nursing is not an exception. Becoming a nurse can be daunting; however, if I have a plan of action to focus on seeking knowledge, personal values, and visualization guided by commitment,
As of 2008, there were about 753,600 Licensed Practical Nurses and 2,618,700 Registered Nurses in the United States (U.S. Department of Labor, 2010-11). In the year 2018, the LPN employment percentage is expected to rise 21% while the RN rate should be approximately 22% (U.S. Department of Labor, 2010-11). This may not seem that high, but it is, when one considers that the expected employment rate for a Dentist is only expected to be 16% (U.S Department of Labor, 2010-11). Nursing is a highly respected and sought after career because every person that enters this profession is able to make a difference and is needed by the general population for his/her skills and contributions to the medical field. When a person is contemplating entering
I chose to be a nurse because taking care of people and especially the elderly is my passion, and something that got my attention since I was a little boy. I remember doing small surgeries on my gold fishes because I was pretending to be a doctor. I also believe our society needs more nurses to take care of our family members, nurses that love what they do and have it in their blood.
My dad has been living with seizure since 1980s caused by a traffic accident. Later, he was also diagnosed with Hepatitis C. As I was beside my dad in his journey, I had seen him gone into an ambulance whenever he had seizure attacks. I had witnessed his life going up and down with the disorder. My family was desperate to seek treatments in the hopes that would stop his seizure attacks. This was a difficult time in my family’s life and we wanted to give up at the time due to our financial problems. Fortunately, after we settled in the America, we were able to apply for a low-income families health care system. This enabled my parents to have checkups and access to the health care. As I began to help them with translation during doctor visits, my interest in health care enhances progressively. I was inspired by the work that the nurses and health care staffs perform toward my family members. Throughout their works, I learned that this profession requires extensive critical thinking, which is rooted in evidence based on practice and compassion. They 're really eager in their work and enthusiastic individual patient care not only for my family. These motivations lead me to developed my passion for providing a holistic and benevolent care such as nursing
I’m positive there are many ways to move ourselves into a situation where we have more security in our lives. Although doing something different and trying new method is sometimes uncomfortably frightening for many people, if we stretch ourselves out from our comfort zone and willing to take risks to grow, there is always room for improvements. For instance, I want to become a skillful and a successful registered nurse who can make a difference in people’s life by giving the best possible care for my patients. I understand this isn’t an easy task and require a lot of consequences and sacrifices that I have to make n my life. Nonetheless, I strongly believe there’s nothing worth having comes easy. Additionally, people need to enhance their skills
Being a successful registered nurse definitely comes with many more titles than just ‘nurse’. From the education aspect of nursing, nurses know how to care for sick patients, promote health in patients and provide treatment for patients. To be a successful nurse that is a great start, but nurses possess many more characteristics that enable them to excel in their field. As a pre-nursing student, I should be thinking about all of the unmentioned obligations that come along with being a nurse. Mental and emotional abilities have proven to be just as necessary as the knowledge it takes to become a registered nurse. Learning the characteristics that a successful nurse possesses will assist me in becoming the best nurse that I can be.
In one year I see myself attending Grand Valley State University, studying nursing. I will be working on my prerequisites on their Allendale Campus.
I have had plenty of experiences as an individual that I believe will contribute to my success within the nursing program. From taking courses like Opportunity Emergency Care, volunteering (where), and being a part of organizations (which one), have contributed to me having an insight in what is like to be a nurse.
For as long as I can remember, I always told myself I would go to college. As a senior, I went through all the steps of admitting into a college, or so I thought. I did everything except turn in my mom’s signature to the FAFSA. Getting ready to submit the signature I realized I was not ready to spend $60,000 in a career I wasn't passionate about. Now here I am again 3 years later doing it again, most people would see this as a set back, but I see it more as an opportunity. This time I am prepared to pursue my goal of attending collage and purse a nursing career . I feel that with the opportunity your scholarship will provide I can reach my goals of taking care of others.
The main goals I have for myself are to become a well-rounded, intelligent, and focused nurse. I want to know all about nursing and how I can help everyone I can. I come from a long line of strong women who were nurses. Nursing is in my blood and I want to carry the legacy on. As a nurse, I want to be able to touch as many lives as possible. As for my education, I want to continue on for the rest of my life, therefore I will never stop learning new medical procedures and practices for the future. I want to be able to be educated in all ways of nursing so it opens my opportunities to help more people. There are many people in the world that need my help and if I can touch hundreds of them I know that in my heart I did the right thing. Not only
Before the age of eighteen, I had lived in three countries. My father’s career as a doctor and scientist of Military, Disaster & Extreme Medicine took my family throughout Kazakhstan, Russia, and the Ukraine. Although it was a challenge for me to continually adapt to new places and learn three languages, I am grateful for the cultural exposure that traveling provided me. In every new environment I was raised to treat others with equal respect and kindness regardless of any differences or similarities we may have had. This exposure has taught me that successful acclimation lies in the ability to interact well with people from diverse backgrounds. Here, in a country of immigrants, I have met people from countries all around the world. The Nursing field provides me the opportunity to help all people regardless of age, sex or ethnicity. I seek a Nursing degree here in the United States in order to increase my knowledge and to be able to practice in the field of professional nursing. My goal of becoming a Registered Nurse has long been encouraged by my personal interest in the profession and by my experience, previous education and achievements. These factors continue to motivate and inspire my desire to seek this degree and become a healthcare professional.
I plan to pursue a degree in nursing and graduate in May of 2018. In college, I have joined various clubs in which I have formed new friendships. Being in clubs has diversified my college experience because I have met students from various countries such as Bolivia, Japan, China, England, and many more countries. I have learned more about their culture and traditions. These friendships have taught me to become more culturally aware of the various cultures, thus helping me provide more culturally aware patient centered care.
My short-term goals include passing my state boards upon graduation and then finding a fulfilling job as a Registered Nurse (RN) at a major local hospital. Currently, I work at Summa Akron City Hospital and it would be seamless for me if I could obtain a job there as a nurse in one of their intensive care units. After a few years of practice, I plan to get my certification in Critical Care Nursing. Beyond that, my long-term goals for the future are to attend graduate school at University of Akron and receive my Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree in critical care nursing. I would like to work in an intensive care unit during graduate school to better my nursing skills and work toward paying off loans before returning to school.
I have enjoyed a very rewarding career as a Registered Nurse for the past twenty one years. I was so fortunate to have positive experiences with educators while on the path to working toward my nursing degree. I feel completely blessed and fortunate that I was able to find my passion at such a young age. For many years, I have had the opportunity to work with the students in my district's Health Science program while working as a staff nurse at my local hospital. Their curiosity, excitement, and compassionate feeling about healthcare has encouraged me to pursue a career in education so that I can continue to share my passion and have a hand in training the young students today for an exciting and rewarding career in healthcare like I have
