Imagine that you walk into the O.R. of your own veterinary clinic, and you see a horse that you will be operating on. The horse is under anesthesia, because she was trying to give birth, then two hours in the owners of the horse decided it would be best to get the horse to an equine veterinarian as quick as possible, because this horse isn’t able to push the colt out on its own. So, you walk in and you start seeing what you can do for the six-year-old mare, however you can’t do anything for the mare, owner, or the colt, except just to deliver the colt as a stillbirth. This scenario is one out of many challenges veterinarians face on a day to day basis.
