Veterinarians
Imagine that you walk into the O.R. of your own veterinary clinic, and you see a horse that you will be operating on. The horse is under anesthesia, because she was trying to give birth, then two hours in the owners of the horse decided it would be best to get the horse to an equine veterinarian as quick as possible, because this horse isn’t able to push the colt out on its own. So, you walk in and you start seeing what you can do for the six-year-old mare, however you can’t do anything for the mare, owner, or the colt, except just to deliver the colt as a stillbirth. This scenario is one out of many challenges veterinarians face on a day to day basis. To become a veterinarian, you need to understand the responsibilities that come along with being one, the job securities as a veterinarian, and the different opportunities that come with being a male or a female veterinarian.

Animals have played a big part in my life, I have always had some sort of animal ever since I was born. Growing up I've had dogs, hamsters and fish and I have loved all of them deeply. This love for animals has showed me that I want to work with animals for the rest of my life. Becoming a Vet Tech is a great job because I get to see animals all day every day and I get to care and love for them.Vet Techs provide care for all animal's, anywhere from dogs, cats, exotic pets, lab animals and zoo animals. They help animals recover from injury, illness and help maintain animal's overall health. Vet Techs are commonly called ''nurses'' for animals, having the same jobs nurses have but just for animals.
From a very young, becoming a veterinarian has been a dream of mine. The love of animals coupled with the thought of helping those animals through suffering and having the opportunity to actually save one's life has been a motivator for the future. A veterinarian changes an animal’s life in more ways than one. They care for the health of animals. Whether it be for simple routine checkups in a veterinary general practice clinic or saving a severely injured non-human member of the family at the emergency clinic, the entire veterinary team is essential to a smooth running facility. Doctors can tell what is wrong with your pet and prescribe treatment and medicine to make them feel better. I have wanted to become a Veterinarian ever since I was a little kid and we got our first dog Max. Veterinarians provide medical services for animals that are big and small. Helping sick animals weather they are big or small. They provide medicine for house pets and farm animals. When owners take there pet to the vet they are looking for someone to provide information to them about their animal. Ever since I was about 6 years old i always adored animals. I wanted to help any animal who was sick or endanger. This career would be good for me because, I grew up taking care of many different animals. Being a vet or veterinary assistant would be the best job for me.
The only jobs that interest me having things to do with animals, peoples healthcare just doesn’t interest me enough to make a career of out it. The two careers that interest me the most is either a veterinarian, or something in aquaculture. To be a veterinarian, you have to have your bachelors in biology, zoology, chemistry, animal sciences, and so on. After your bachelor’s you are required to apply and attend veterinary school which is another 4 years, after you will be required to take and pass a state test before you are permitted to practice. Veterinarians are often required to specialize in different areas and different animals such as, cardiology, oncology, aquatics, reptiles, exotics, and so on. To work in aquaculture it is recommended that you have a bachelor's in biology, it is not advised you major in Marine Biology because if you do you are allowed only to work with marine life, biology is a more broad major that doesn’t limit you to
Ever since I was a small child, animals have always sparked a special light within me. It my dream to become a veterinarian so I can be the light for animals. I know the road to becoming a veterinarian is a very long one, but I would love to start with pre-veterinary studies at UVA Wise. The first step for me after being accepted is applying for financial aid. This is a very crucial part of my plan to achieve my dream. I feel like I am a good candidate for the Howard B. Smith, Jr. Memorial Scholarship. I am unique, determined, and I overcome obstacles.
I plan to become a Veterinary Surgeon. For my entire life I have had an innate desire to become a veterinarian so that I can improve the lives of animals. I have always wanted to become a veterinarian since I live on a family farm and have always had pets, so I have always had a great appreciation and love of all animals.
Becoming a veterinarian takes a lot of hard work and many years of schooling, but it is an immensely satisfying job for those that are comfortable with and passionate about working with animals as well as people. Veterinarians offer medical care to by diagnosing and treating sick animals, which are often household pets, farm animals, and zoo animals. While looking into becoming a veterinarian, many factors of the job need to be taken into consideration: education and experience requirements, working facilities, job outlook, advancement opportunities, salary and wages, tasks performed, and advantages and disadvantages.
