20 years ago, I was attending St.Joseph School in Wakefield, MA. There was a girl in my class named Anna Scarpello. When we were in class she was studious and always achieved high grades, but that was 20 years ago, in fact, anybody can change into anything in 20 years. I am confident she is successful and has an endless list of accolades. I hope I am not wrong, chances are I 'm not, although, odds never say that one thing will happen, they predict it. I’ve come a long way from graduating St.Joseph’s. Now, you’re probably wondering why I 'm on this topic, in the following paragraphs, it will paint a picture, a beautiful one at that. When Anna was 8th-grade, I recall she wanted to be a Labor Delivery nurse. I thought from my peers this was a …show more content…
We exchanged pleasantries and it’s been 20 years since we’ve seen each other. My wife said she was going to take off work a couple of months to take care of the baby.I said alright, but we should have shifts so you’re not doing all the work. So we agreed to that, and then I get a text from Anna saying “ If you want to catch up, meet me at the “Metropolis Cafe”. I replied with “ Yes, that would be great, does 9:30 sound good?” She replies “Yep, see you there :)” I tell my wife and she seems envious, and I ask why she is and she says “ Well, you haven’t seen this girl in 20 years only God knows how she is” I take time to think of a response and say “ I haven’t a clue how she is either, but if she is a nurse, my expectations are high. I am assuring you this is just to catch up.” She seemed a little sad and then smiled and wished me luck and hoped it would be good. I drive in my Porsche to a cafe I don’t really know about. As I am driving, I am thinking of awful scenarios that could happen. What if she doesn’t show up?, or if she isn’t the person I thought she was? Those thoughts had to stop because I’ve arrived. Little kids run up to me and ask for autographs and I willfully oblige because I remember when I was a little kid I was the same way with begging for an autograph. Finally, after signing all the autographs, Anna waves and I wave back. She is seated in a booth all the way back. She apologizes because she
A baby was just born at 26 weeks gestation. Just over half the normal 40 weeks a baby should stay inside the mother. The baby is immediately whisked away and taken to be evaluated and prepared for a long journey ahead. Ever since I could remember babies and the nursery at the hospital have fascinated me. Whenever we would go visit a friend who had a baby, I would find myself peaking over the windows into the nursery. I have known for a while that working in the neonatal intensive care unit is what I want to pursue. Recently I have been looking into nurse practitioners and furthering my education beyond my BSN. Being able to care for these infants in the most critical stages of their life, and being able to provide them the support they need to survive outside the womb seems so satisfying . Neonatal nurse practitioners have years of education, deep history, detailed job description, high demands and some legal issues.
My career in nursing spanned 9 great years in the NICU. During this time, we had the same manager and clinical coordinator. Being a manager and leader are two roles we see as being intertwined as they lead followers on a path to success. As a floor nurse in the NICU, I worked directly with the babies. On numerous occasions there would be a switch in roles to “charge-nurse” in the unit. This role as a charge nurse proved very different from floor nursing, The task of taking on responsibility and charge of all the babies and their nurses was arduous, while keeping the unit running as smoothly as possible. It was a job I loved as was it challenging to work with so many diverse personalities.
I am Brania Shant’A Kimbrough. I am 17 years old currently a student at Euclid High School. I plan on becoming a nurse Midwife. When I was younger all I loved was taking care of babies and I think the birthing process is a miracle. One of my big focuses is helping out with others when I can. I plan on starting college in the fall of 2017. During high school my main focus was to make good grades and stay on the right track. I made honor role throughout most of my high school years. I struggled with a couple courses but tried my hardest to not fail myself or the courses. When I became a junior I started to think about college and where I would fit in at. I couldn’t decide between going for nursing or occupational therapy. They are both outstanding
I grew up hearing about Maya Angelou and all the wonderful accomplishments she made when I participated in the Zeta Phi Beta Youth Sorority. Although she is an AKA, she is looked up to by all sororities for the courageous movements she participated in. Not only did she use her wisdom for the benefit of her career, but she gave back to those in need of assistance. I hold these tributes very close to myself as well. I wish not to only succeed, but I dream to help others around me and give back to the community. Once I get a degree in Biology Pre-Med, I’d like to go to medical school to specialize in gynecology and obstetrics. After witnessing my mother struggle being a single parent and the death of my brother, I decided I wanted to someday open
According to Anazor (2012), the transformation in health care delivery system mandates nurses to advance their role identity by leading the delivery of care instead of being confined to performing traditional nursing care activities. This assumption was supported by Galuska (2012) arguing that for nurses to serve as leaders, the creation of supportive healthy work environment which empower and engage nurses in care decision-making and risk taking must be cultivated. Additionally, Raiskila et al (2016) commenting on the role of nurses in promoting the well-being of their patients argue that some neonatal nurses in NICU around the world played a vital role in transforming care culture to a developmentally based one . Neonatal nurses worldwide exerted remarkable effort in transforming care by involving parents in their infant care and assisted them in responding to infant developmental needs individually (Raiskila et al, 2016). As authors proclaimed, this change in care delivery led by nurses, had a positive impact on the infant neurodevelopment and maternal-child separation. Moreover, Hall, Philips, and Hynan (2016) highlighted that neonatal nurse has long been acting as leaders within NICU evident through their participation in many quality improvement projects which enhanced pain management in neonates and amended provision of family-centered care and DC.
Shawn: Of course. You know you're always welcome here Annabells. However we're going out to dinner tonight at a fancy restaurant with extended family. You'll have to come with if that's okay?
My second choice for a job would be a labor and delivery nurse. These nurses help bring babies in the world everyday. They help monitor the baby and the mother. They assist the doctor, but in certain cases they end up delivering the baby. Some of the things you will do are monitor the baby’s heart rate, and the mother's blood pressure, time contractions, give medications and epidural, and aid in inducing labor. The education you will need to get to become a labor and delivery nurse is get your nursing diploma, associate of science in nursing or bachelor of science in nursing. Next, you get your inpatient obstetric nursing certification, Then you become a certified labor and delivery nurse. The average yearly salary for labor and delivery rn
The volunteer I called upon to do my assignment was Marquita Snow. Marquita is recently from Selma, Al and went to college at Auburn University Montgomery in Montgomery, Alabama. She attended AUM for four years and graduated with a degree in Psychology. Now, she is doing full-time work at Baptist South Hospital during a Unit Clerk position and Patient Registration. Right now she’s is a confused state where she loves the degree she received at AUM, but she loves to help people within a hospital and/or doctor office. She recently went looking for a major and can have some kind of success in and she stubbed across a major called Medical Billing and Coding at Trenholm State Technology College. She seems so happy, there are some issues with her

Many births are difficult for women and by not being able to deliver naturally due to medical implications or simply by conscious choice, they are compelled to decide on a cesarean section. Cesarean section is a medical procedure where a doctor makes an incision in the abdomen, adjusting organs, and making incision’s near the bladder and bowels” (Hatfield pg 2 par 4). Cesarean sections take four to six weeks for the mother to fully recover, and on top of that she has to meet the demands of a newborn. Having to care for a baby instead of staying rested for the recovery time takes a toll on a woman’s
Hundreds of students studying nursing, midwifery and other medical based degrees in Sheffield have shown outrage towards the proposal to remove bursaries and replace them with loans over the coming academic years.
Cesarean Delivery A cesarean delivery (also called a surgical birth) is a surgical procedure used to deliver an infant. It requires regional anesthetic to prevent pain, and then a vertical or horizontal incision in the lower abdomen to expose the uterus (womb). Another incision is made in the uterus to allow removal of the baby and placenta. Other procedures, such as tubal ligation (sterilization), may also be performed during cesarean delivery. Cesarean deliveries may be performed because of maternal or fetal problems that arise during labor, or they may be planned before the mother goes into labor. More than 30 percent of births in the United States occur by cesarean delivery.
Tay graduated from Lake View high school in 2014, after four years of schooling. Later on, she attended Macomb and decided to major in laboring delivery nurse. This is her second year at Macomb and she plans to transfer to Wayne state university after this year. Not only she wants to transfer to Wayne State but also she’s planning on living in the campus. As a teenager Tay always knew she wanted to major in nursing, but she never was sure what kind of nursing she wanted to major in. However after weeks of searching online about the kinds of nursing there are, laboring delivery nurse got her attention. Tay started searching about this major and she started watching videos and knowing more and more about this major. Finally, Tay decided that this is what she wants to do on everyday of her life in the future. Her love to babies and pregnant women also played a big role on her decision. Away from her interests in nursing Tay always thought that the idea of taking cooking class to learn how to cook sounds so much fun. On the other hand she always hated the math classes that she had to take in her high school years and the last year of college.
I am interested in helping people. I believe in the well-being of others and would love to work with the miracle of life, also known as pregnancy and birth. This is why I am looking at Obstetrics. According to webmd.com an Obstetrician is, “a doctor who specializes in pregnancy, childbirth, and a woman’s reproductive system.” They take care of women during pregnancy in many ways, including monitoring the mother’s and her developing baby’s health by carrying out routine ultrasounds, measurements, and tests. As an Obstetric Doctor, my responsibilities would consist of checking for any problems that could cause issues during a pregnancy. I would advise about diet, exercise, medications, and other health related things, as well as
I walked inside my home, closed the door behind me,took off my coat and hung it up, walked into the kitchen to see my wife, envelope in hand with excitement. I walk up to my wife and greet her, I hand her the envelope and she begins to tear it open. I watch and listen as she pulls out the envelope and begins reading it, when she's done I expect to see her face lit up with happiness but am disappointed when I see her expression change drastically. She seems angry and sad at the same time. Its complete silence as she throws the letter onto the table. I’m about to ask if she is ok when she stops me and murmurs the words “What good is that to me?”
