Being Successful In Working With Others

When it comes to being successful in the workforce there are many different skills a person needs. I believe there are three extremely important skills every employee should have. These skills are, time management, being respectful, and being responsible. These three skills will give you the best ability to succeed in the workplace, and open up more opportunities for your career.

My last employment was for a graduate school that had a focus on conflict facilitation and group work which exposed me to methods for working through difficult topics to build better community relationships. With a student and faculty community that spanned worldwide, I was able to experience many cultures and work with a very diverse community of people. My communication and training experience can be used to build collaborative working environment while fostering learning experiences. Fitting in a group is a reason for a successful group. The meaning of a person fits in a group is to tell the group everything you know, you need and be serious. In a group it is important to have a person that is being who he is and say what he feels. No matter any group you are in a group in school, in work, or in some research's there should be a person that might take and do all the work for the group because he needs a degree or the thing that group will lead to. However it is argued that it is important for a person to be serious and say all what he want to say.

As I reflect back on this week reading lecture, PowerPoint, discussion, mycounselinglab and webinar, I learned that group leaders have to take a lot of things into consideration before starting a group. In order to be an effective group leader, I would need to determine what type of group I would want to lead. Also, I learned what should happen doing each stages of group development. Furthermore, I learned that curative factors can help improve group counseling.

Working in teams was always challenging when growing up. The author always felt people were taking advantage of her commitment and desire for everyone to collaborate. It seem like been exited or responsible about a project gave the perception to everyone else in the team that she wanted to do everything. The video presented for this assignment showed us a group with definite issues. The group is attempting to work on an analysis project to implement something new. We witness the initial meeting and the “group leaders” reaction afterwards. There is not much to go on beyond this information. It is clear though, that the group will fail unless actions are taken to create more effective communication, proper motivation, and constructive conflict management.

Students are required to assume the role of a collective bargaining consultant. The collective bargaining consultant duties are to review the employees’ policies of the global retailer business. This company has been operating for many years, with effective employee relations and work environment success. However, a topic of union organizing was introduced to the employees because some workers were frustrated by new regulations implemented by management. Global retailer’ has been operating without a union since inception. Senior management is against allowing any of its workers to organize a union, but due to the increasing demands from both workers and the media, they are evaluating the consequences of agreeing to the union organizing within the stores.

This giant knows that the success of the company rests on the people who keeps the wheel turning and these individuals could not do what they do without the 3Cs, especially in the area of communication; without communication there can be no collaboration. Hence, SWA live by the 3Cs and incorporates it into their day to day operations, from the corporate level down to the men and women working at the ticket counter. One can see the 3Cs in action, whether surfing SWA website, speaking to one of team members over the phone, at the ticket counter or being is a passenger on an aircraft; you feel the commitment regardless of the touch point.

Tools can be used for many things, to build, destroy, or best of all, to protect. Weather it 's personal integrity or the core principles of a corporation, my intention is to help protect entities and surpass information technology limits by rising through the ranks to one day lead a corporation as a CIO. If there was one thing I 'd tell my younger self it would be to 'never give up ' and in IT that makes all the difference. Working in IT for the last few years and learning different aspects of professional life from my peers and co-workers has shown me a lot about the capabilities one can reach. IT is constantly evolving and will need new leaders in the future.
