Bekah Nixon When I was younger I had all sorts of injuries. Here are some funny and painful stories to tell. On New Year's Eve I had to go to the doctor’s office and this is why. I was getting ready to go to bed and I was so excited because of the new year about to come. I was running to my room hoping to go to bed so the next morning it would be a new year and also my mom told me to go to bed anyway. I got my pajamas on and i dove into my bed, I hit my head on the headboard and It was bleeding really bad. We went straight to the doctor's office and I had to go to a room where you get injuries checked, I laid down, my parents had told the nurse what happened, and then the nurse gave me a shot to numb it, the nurse got her tools and stitched
When I was in first grade I witnessed a motorcycle accident outside my elementary school. A man had been riding, without a helmet or jacket, and hit a bump. All I remember was the bike flying into the air then into a nearby front yard and the man disappearing. I was so close to it I could see everything that happened. Everyone started screaming and rushing around. The man had slid under a car that was pulling out of the school parking lot and was stuck under the rear wheel. Later I learned he had an acute subdural hematoma and the car was still on his chest. They tried to lift the car off of him, but he immediately started chocking on blood, resulting in them leaving the car on top of him until emergency response came. He was eventually taken to the hospital via helicopter.
Then, we looked at the corner of the house. She sall us and then I turned around. And I was going to run until I hit my head on a air conditioning box.I did not notice I was bleeding until my cousin told me.I ran upstairs and told my mom my mom was freaking out.
The time I got the concussion. I was skating with two of my friends when I fell over forward onto my head. I got up and I was really dizzy and I didn't know what was happening. My math teacher Mr. Darling brought me over to the bench and checked my eyes. My eyes were dilated. We had to call my parents, thankfully I remembered
On April 30th I had a baseball game and while we were warming up the ball took a bad hop and hit me in the face and in the nose. My nose was pouring blood, I had broken my nose in my baseball game. I thought I was going to be out for the rest of the season that’s how bad my nose was bleeding.
When I was four years old I fell off the bleachers and hurt myself poorly. This was a very critical condition in which hurt me in several ways. But not only I wasn’t being watched and I got told to run down the bleachers. This was just a start to everything when my head hit the cold hard ground at the softball park.
Since that time I’ve had injuries upon injuries. Each coming with their own story and lesson. Sprained ankles taught me not to jump of bags of soil. A stitched lip and a stapled head taught me to be prepared and have experience before trying new things. A separated shoulder taught me not to slide into home head first. And concussions taught me to tackle with my head up.
Further, when he was nearly thirteen, my brother Jem got his arm badly broken at the elbow. Last year, running on ice, slipped felt and snapped my tibia. Slipping on ice, is the most uncool thing that can happen. My leg broke so easily, because I just had a growth spurt. More, it happen after I jumped over a puddle, when I landed my right leg bend and snapped.
I closed my eyes real quick and opened them and I was in the hospital. All my friends and family were their surrounding me. When I looked down I had broken both of my legs when I was hit by the car.
When I was two years old I got a scar on my eye. I hit my eye off a corner of a table. I remember that I jumped off my mom's bed and ran into the living room. I finally ran right into the table. Now my mom tells me when she saw me there was a huge puddle of blood on the floor. I had to get a lot of stitches, and it will go down as THE worst day of my life.
The 22nd day of May, 2005, it was a sunny day, few clouds in the sky. It also happened to be my mom's birthday. I remember it as if it were yesterday as surprising as that may seem. It was a beautiful spring day, birds chirping and kids running around. I was playing baseball outside of my house with my friend Jake. Mom inside on the phone, completely unaware of what was going to happen next. We were playing baseball, I walked over to Jake to tell him to use a different bat and just as I walked over, he swung the bat and hit me just above the eye. My head flopped back and the tears rolled down my face. Blood oozed down my cheek as I lost perception of reality. I don’t think I was fully aware of how severe the situation was until I was in the
It started of when I was at my friends house playing soccer waiting for our other friend to come outside. While we were playing soccer i was the goalie and we were playing for like 20 minutes and I got hit in the face 3 times! So then we took a break and started to play golf, but we were only going to do putting and that was all. Then when our friend came outside we decided to do one more put each and I did mine and missed. Then as I was walking away I turned around and right when I saw him swing it came around and hit about 2 inches above my right eye. When both my friends saw my head goosing with blood the friend that just got there helped me up and told the friend that hit me to go get an adult. Once we got to the Hospital we took a C.A.T scan and after the scan the nurse told my parents that I would have to be life flighted to Primary Children’s to get stitched up with plastic stitches that went away without having to get them taken out. Then while we were in the airplane they gave me a drug called fennergin that I found I was allergic to because my reaction was crazy, at first it was my feet were really itchy then I didn’t remember anything else but my mom told me I had a huge fit and I pushed 5 Doctors and a nurse on the ground. Wants I was stitched up I woke up to some of my aunts and uncles in my room. Then I was told that I could not run, jump, and play
When I was four years old, I wasn’t paying attention to my parents and as they were walking into a store, they left me behind. I remember really wanting a Barbie bicycle and I had been distracted. I was then left alone inside of Rockingham Mall and since I was only four, I didn’t know what to do. At first, I started panicking and looking around the mall. I remember seeing a lot of people walking by and it was a really busy day. So then I started to cry and I walked around the mall all by myself. I was on the second floor at that time so I went down the stairs, which I tripped on. I had hit my hand badly and it was bleeding. That’s when I started to cry. I then walked around the mall crying until I reached one of the exits.
We had this playset that had a bar on the left side to do flips on. On the other side there was a climbing rope, and in the front there were two swings. My brother and I came up with a game to see who could get over the bar fastest by doing a flip. So the first few times I did it I was fine, I grabbed the bar put my stomach on it and spun down. My brother and I took turns and on my 3rd turn I must not have done it correctly, but either way I hit my head on it right below my eyebrow. I fell on the ground and held my hand to my eye, by then I started crying because of shock. Surprisingly it didn’t hurt that bad, but it was just throbbing. My brother came over and told me to move my hand so he could look at it when I did he looked worried, he told me that we had to go in the house right away. I had blood all over the palm of my hand and on the right side of my face. He helped me up and walked there with me to the house.
One night I was riding in the car with my cousin to the store. While he’s driving to the store he was speeding down the road. While he was speeding down the road a deer jumped out into the road in front of the car. We tried to dodge the deer, but instead ended up hitting the deer and a ditch. We ended up flipping our whole car into the ditch with the deer. I somehow ended up in the back seat , because I was being stupid enough to ride with him and not wear a seatbelt. But anyways I went to the back seat and just broke his leg and hip. The wreck had my cousin unconscious, so I reached into my pocket and grabbed my phone to call my cousin’s mom. She quickly rushed to where we had the wreck. She pulled
Honestly , it was my first time going to the Accident and Emergency department i was scared and worried about what will happen to my wrist and how will my parents react .While my teacher was doing all the registration i sat there in state of shock . It was really a blessing having my best friend by my side comforting me and constantly telling me everything will be alright . I was then called to do some X-RAYS before consulting the doctor . My parents finally came and just right it was my turn to consult the doctor , my mother then went in together with me . The doctor was then examining my X-RAYS that i took before consulting him . My heart was beating very very fast as I am a right hander and i need my right hand to do many things . Finally the doctor spoke , he said that there was no obvious or major fractures shown in my X-RAYS but i have to put an temporary cast on my hand. He then referred me to a specialist at KK Children Bone Specialist to ensure there was no hairline fracture or any small minor fractures .
