Formative Assessment One: Bell Work Throughout this unit I used my bell work as a type of formative assessment. Each class period students come in and record the answer to a question written on the board; they use one sheet of paper per week so by the end of the week they have a sheet of paper with the key ideas from every class. This question always reviews the largest idea covered in the class before so it serves as both a review and a way for me to gauge the level of understanding throughout my students. The bell work process goes as follows: students come into class and get out their supplies, once the bell rings I settle the class down and read the question out loud, students call out the answers, then I repeat the correct answer several times …show more content…
This oral quiz was over vocabulary from chapter 8 and section 9.1. I had students put everything away except for a single sheet of paper and their writing utensil. I then read through the 10 questions as students answered them on their separate sheet of paper. In between each question I would pause until the vast majority of students’ eyes where back on me to allow for time for students to answer and I would repeat each question several times before moving on. Once the quiz was finished I had students grade their own quizzes with a different colored pen/pencil. This way students knew immediately what they did or didn’t know and it speeds the grading process up on my end substantially. If several students missed a question I would review the information several times throughout the following week continuously recalling it to the forefronts of their memories helping to increase retention rates. Some modifications I made to this assignment was providing a written copy of the quiz to ELL students and to students with specific IEPs. I also allowed these students additional time and had them take the quiz in a separate quieter

In his essay “The Lonely Death of George Bell,” N.R. Kleinfeld describes how life goes on after people die and they are survived by their belongings and memories they gave to people. Kleinfield illustrates how even melancholy deaths can affect society in positive and negative ways. Although he chose an interesting topic to discuss, N.R. Kleinfield’s essay failed to be captivating because it contained monotonous, unnecessary detail and had a disconnected thesis.
The novel No Signature ratifies the importance of human relationships through exhibiting how drastically Steve’s decisions can negatively affect his relationships with his family and friends. After Steve Chandler's father leaves the family, Steve receives a postcard from him every month. There's no return address, and no signature; just "DAD" stamped on the back. When Steve’s mom finds him angrily ripping up the cards, she starts throwing them out before he can see them. But one day, when he's eighteen, he gets the mail first. He finds another "DAD" postcard, and goes in search of his father. During a short trip to Thunder Bay, the two slowly
[The formal and informal assessments in the learning segments provided direct evident throughout the learning segments as I was able to incorporate relevant and meaningful assessments with my students. In the first lesson, students will be assessed through an observation during the anticipatory activity. I will use a Smart Presentation in this lesson and have the students determine which items have the greatest/least quantity. I will collect the data using my clipboard. In learning experience 2, students will, again, be observed. I will use a checklist ensuring students are able to read quantities from left to right as well as being able to recognize the three key vocabulary terms for this unit –
The additional techniques I would recommend as a teacher for student assessment preparation would be POP: Preparation-assist students by teaching them to prepare for test by explaining to them what information the test will cover. And also encourage them to spend more time studying the information they do not know or are having difficulty retaining (suggest using various memory strategies and techniques as, Mnemonics –strategy where students associate familiar words, creating informational rhymes, songs or phrases, or songs; Rote Practice Exercises – Repetition or teacher constantly reviewing concepts with their students (creating individual or entire class drills so that students can complete work on their own to repetitively review curriculum for their for their
In light of the semi-autobiographical novel known as The Bell Jar, written by Sylvia Plath, there are apparent literary devices in which emphasize the novel thematically. Historically, the novel was published during the heart of the burgeoning feminist movement in the United States of America around 1971. Thus, it rendered Plath to become an icon of the feminist movement due to publication of such a novel that detailed the coming of age story from a woman’s perspective who struggled with external and internal complications in which thwarted her ability to grow and transform as a woman in the restrictive society of America in the 1950s. The story is loosely based upon Plath’s personal experiences disguised under a woman known as Esther Greenwood,

I thought they were happy to see me, but when I opened the door to our shack, I saw that everything we owned was neatly packed in cardboard boxes. I was shocked! We were moving? Since when? I walked further into our shack and saw Roberto and Papa carrying boxes to the Carcanchita. I then saw Mama holding her pot walking over to the Carcanchita very carefully trying her best to not step on one of my younger sibling’s toys.
Mary Bell was only 11 years old when she committed her crimes. She was born on May 26, 1957 in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. She had very distinctive, beautiful blue eyes that she was known to have. She had a nickname, The Tyneside strangler.
Means of Assessment (Describe briefly here, and attached below in each lesson): After you describe your assessment, mention how you will differentiate for a student with special needs (e.g., struggling reader, English language learners): The students will be assessed on the 13 colonies by presenting to the class the information they found on their assigned colony and completing a foldable graphic organizer. For the French and Indian War students will be assessed by being given a reflective worksheet where they are asked to reflect on what they learned about the French and Indian War. The lesson over the Stamp Act will include a game that serves as the formative assessment. Day 5 will cover the Boston Massacre. The students will be given a reading for homework and then will answer questions that go along with the reading. On the last day, after discussing the Boston Tea Party, the students will be given homework. The homework is a worksheet answering questions over the Boston Tea Party. Finally, we will be giving a summative assessment. The assessment includes creating an interactive timeline where students will have to draw in the major events we have talked about. Once they have

His mission was to blow up a bridge held by the fascists during an offensive to prevent a counterattack. He fought behind enemy lines with guerilla bands in the mountains of Spain.

Contradictions in “The Bell” In her novel, “The Bell,” Iris Murdoch investigates the relationship between religion and morality, and how that relationship affects society. The Imber court populace leaves the civilized society because their “desire for God makes them unsatisfactory citizens of an ordinary life” (Murdoch 71). The Abbess claimed that the people of the community would “grow and flourish” each other and that they would be “as wise as serpents, [and] as harmless as doves” (Murdoch 71).
The importance of Alexander Graham Bell on today’s society is visible, or rather audible, every day and everywhere. First and foremost, Alexander Graham Bell was a prolific teacher of the deaf. This is what he considered to be his true life’s work, but only one of the many important things he did. Through his research of speech and sound, and his creative mind, he would become one of the most influential inventors in modern history. His own definition of an inventor, “A man who looks upon the world and is not contented with things as they are. He wants to improve whatever he sees, he wants to benefit the world.” suits him well. Every thing that he did had an impact on someone.
