Benefits of Hunting
One of the most controversial topics in the past and even more so today is hunting. Hunting has been around as long as we know it. Ancient civilizations hunted as a source of food, tools, and clothes. Hunting is the act of one animal pursuing another wild animal and killing it. Humans much like other animals hunt mainly for a source of food, although; humans also hunt as a way of protecting their selves, to remove unwanted animals, and to eliminate predators. Hunting for many has become a challenge; a challenge to kill the elusive game the hunter or huntress is in pursuit of. Many people around the world hunt all different kinds of game. Some animals have become extinct due to over hunting the animals, but laws have been put in place to protect this from happening to other animals. Wildlife conservation foundations have greatly benefited from hunters who have donated billions of dollars to these foundations. Hunters around the world enjoy the pastime, however; to such groups like PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) despise hunting. These anti-hunting groups go as far as condemning those who take part in hunting as a recreational activity of killing animals. Even though many people and groups are against hunting, hunting has boosts local and national economies, improves society, and manages animal populations, which in turn helps the environment. First, without hunting animal populations would be out of control. Even though the natural
Hunting is a common activity all around the world, and if performed properly, can have many benefits to us and the rest of the planet. The art of hunting has been around since the beginning of time. Living off of the land used to be a necessity across the world, until the mass production of food came along. In America, people do not usually need to hunt to survive. However, the population of animal species needs to be controlled. Too many of one type of animal can cause a drastic change to any ecosystem. Food supplies decline quickly, leaving many animals without food. Hunting can help keep the population of a group of animals at a good number, making the lives of the other
Alongside the lessons learned by hunting, the connections that ethical hunting creates are very beneficial to human health. Ethical hunting creates three very strong and lasting connections: social, natural and spiritual. Social connections are forged with the people that are hunting partners. These connections usually create strong bonds that last forever. Nothing is more fun than going out and enjoying a hunt in the midst of nature with a loving family member or a best friend. The camaraderie that is created between hunting partners runs deep and will last forever as the tradition of hunting is carried on; good times will continue to happen between friends that hunt together. The natural connection is a bond between humans and nature. There is no better way to connect to an animal than to
Hunting is something we've done since we've been on this planet. We used to do it out of necessity, but in the modern world we do it for many other reasons. As technology has increased, we have developed different methods of hunting. These methods have carried over to today, but two have prevailed: bowhunting and rifle hunting. These methods are both hunting--obviously--but they're different in almost every other sense. Bowhunting and rifle hunting are different based on the weapon used, the way you hunt, and your connection with the animal and the land around it; however, the same in the way the respective methods bring people together.
Hunting allows a person to reconnect with nature. For many, hunting isn’t just about the chase and the thrill of catching their game. For many, hunting
In America, deer are an animal hunted widely throughout our country. Each winter citizens have mixed emotions about the sport. Some say its barbaric and cruel, while others argue that it’s beneficial and useful. Although people may say hunting is cruel and barbaric, have they ever thought about the upsides to be gained from hunting? While this is a topic that can be argued viciously back and forth, I believe hunters win the argument. Deer hunting keeps the population down, protects farmers’ crops, boosts economic sales, betters a person’s mental health, and teaches lifelong lessons on respect. These are just a few of the amazing benefits that can be gained from hunting.
Hunting is a sport that men and women around the world have enjoyed for centuries. However, today there is so much controversy over whether it is ethical or beneficial for animals to be hunted. People who do not support hunting are not aware of the benefits it offers for not only the hunter, but also the animal population. There are hunting seasons, specific types of guns the hunters can use, the time sportsmen can hunt, and many other rules that keep sportsmen from hunting unfairly or overhunting. Sportsmen must buy license and tags to hunt legally, which keeps many people from hunting. The people who go against these regulations face heavy fines and in some cases, jail time. People who do not support hunting probably are not aware that because
Hunting has been around for as long as people have been on this earth and if that were taken away completely some people would lose that sense of nature to hunt. Hunting is people who kill animals for food, clothing, or sport. In 2011 13.7 million people, 6% of the U.S. population 16 years old and older, hunted. Big game like elk, deer and wild
In a civilized and cultivated country, wild animals only continue to exist at all when preserved by sportsmen”("MARC FOLCO: Some hunting, fishing quotes to live by"). Hunters are the leading source for all conservation programs. Theodore Roosevelt was one of the most passionate hunters. People put down hunting like it’s a bad thing. Many hunters contribute billions of dollars the the economy. Hunting should not be banned because of the positive impacts it has on society.
Hunting has become a staple of American traditions since the beginning of the first hunter/gatherers, to the Native Americans who have lived in the U.S for millennia, even all the way until present day. Much of today’s society looks at hunting as a cruel activity when in reality it has more of a positive effect on the environment than it does harm. There are an abundance of benefits that come from hunting. Some of the benefits of hunting are: it is the biggest contribution to conserving wildlife, the meat is healthier than commercially produced meat, many jobs are being supported out of hunting, and every hunter wants “to bag” the trophy animal; however, there are a few cons to this, which include poaching and interference by the activist
Hunting is the practice of pursuing wildlife in order to kill it. Individuals who hunt do so for a variety of reasons while wildlife activists oppose hunters’ views and practices. Many people in rural areas of the United States hunt in order to harvest lean, organic, healthy meat for personal consumption. Some individuals hunt because it is tradition and a significant part of their heritage. Others choose to hunt as a means to escape the ins and outs of a chaotic society while taking in the serenity of the great outdoors in a therapeutic manner. Some hunters enjoy hunting for the thrill and the challenge of the chase. Other reasons people hunt include trophy hunting, travel to exotic locations, spending quality time with family and friends, and wildlife conservation. Individuals who are against hunting typically argue that hunting is inhumane and is considered cruelty to animals. Due to the benefits of properly managed ethical hunting, hunting should be legal within the United States.
There are hunters all over the world that use the sport as more than just enjoyment and a goal to get a trophy. Over 200 million animals are killed every year from hunting for the purpose of food and land protection. Farmers who grow corn and vegetables need to kill animals that eat the precious
For the most part, hunting has been about survival and acquiring food, but this slowly changed as humanity and technology progressed (“Evolution of Hunting: History of Tools, Weapons & Tactics”).” “In that case, hunting is good for the environment because the hunting community ensures that wildlife populations of game species are sustainable from one generation to the next. This requires that a diversity of natural habitats be kept intact, unpopulated, and undisturbed (Gibbons).” Hunters support all these efforts. It is not only about the kill, it is also about spending quality time with friends and family. All being able to do something you each enjoy and
Hunting is a controversial topic because it involves a two sided argument. Many people believe that hunting benefits both people and the environment and that it should be allowed in America, while others believe that hunting is cruel to animals, does not provide any benefits, and that it should not be allowed. Hunting started when people made the very first tools and weapons 40,000 years ago during the Stone Age (Wilson 6). The weapons usage was a form of technology. Animal skins and fur were used for making clothes. Horns and bones from the animals were used for making tools, weapons, and ornaments (Wilson 7). In the beginning, the primary reason for hunting was for survival. Today, the primary reason for hunting is not for survival but for
When a Minnesota dentist killed a prized African lion named "Cecil" he received an onslaught of criticism and reignited the debate concerning hunting. I hunt. I have hunted for years and I don't see anything wrong with it. The reasons I hunt are for the meat, I think it tastes better than store-bought meat and it doesn't have any additives in it, and for the time I get to spend out in the mountains. However, there are some people who are against hunting.
Humans have been hunting on this planet for over two million years. Our ancestors used complex hunting techniques to ambush and kill antelopes, gazelles, and other large animals dated back to times before Christ. People all around the world still carry on the tradition, but the view on hunting is not the same as it was back then. The world is so industrialized, and people think hunting is cruel and useless because you can buy meat at grocery stores. But in reality, it is the reason the wildlife they see are not extinct. Harvesting game not only benefits the hunter with the meat, but also the land, the wildlife, and controls the game population; therefore, without it wildlife would starve, and land would not be managed.
