Should high school athletes gain life time benefits?
I believe yes they should gain life time benefits because these high school students have worked their way through high school managing a sport and all there classes the student who get the life time benefits have worked for that and had worked a lot harder than an average student some students even have to manage a job , school and work all together and has to maintain a good GPA for college.
Also when you’re in a sport in high school you most likely get a better paying job or you get better opportunities it shows that you can work as a team and you know how to get along with others also that you know how to handle hard work they will know good leadership and have self-confidence.
Playing sports in high school and college helps athletes build strong character traits and good habits that will help them throughout their lives. Athletes understand the importance of being on time, working hard, not giving up, and working as a team. All of these things help athletes become better people. Many employers like to hire former athletes because these character traits make for great
Often people criticize collegiate sports claiming that they take large amounts of money and economic resources to keep them running. However, after reading the data of the study conducted in the article, for the most part college athletics is an effective way to increase team identification. One of the main goals of university officials is to foster a communal environment. By allowing college sports there is a sense of community on campuses and can enhance involvement on campus. For colleges, their main goal is to provide its students with educational opportunities, public services, and knowledge growth. College sports can help achieve financial goals and the institutional objectives for the university. One key detail to note however is that fans associated more with the school in the study because the region did not previously have a team and the team beat first year expectations.
In high school sports, there are a number of negative and positive aspects that are associated with this industry. Regardless, many students decide they want to show case their talents at an early age. With the proper guidance and teaching, there are many benefits to playing high school sports for the athlete, their families and the community. The benefits include education, moral support and responsibility. As long as the student athlete stays on the right track, they will progress in their field and not fall to the negative temptations that present itself throughout their career.
High School sports are safe havens for people all over America. Kids grow up and dream of bringing home state championships for the town they grew up in. However, more often than not they fall short. Public schools are at an extreme disadvantage in high school sports due to the simple fact that they draw from a set area of kids, while private schools can pick and choose. This leads to a question if whether public and private schools should be in a separate division for high school sports. Public and private schools should be in a separate division due to their ability to recruit, absolute dominance in sports and dwindling attendance of fans at sporting events.
First, youth sports help develop character and confidence in children. In the article “Are High School Sports Good For Kids?” it states “... develop good citizens through interscholastic activities which provide equitable opportunities, positive recognition and learning experiences.” Another reason is that it creates more rewarding friendships. As it states in the News article “Kids and Sports” by CBS News “... Having athletic confidence helps a child greaty and it doesn't have to be a team sport or a high pressure one either.” This tells us that if your children are in sports it will benefit them as they get older and when they are adults they will be prepared more than people who didn’t participate in sports.
Playing a high school sport also gave me the opportunity for college. It gives teens that may not be as privileged as others who are book smart and scoring 1900’s and 30’s on the SAT and ACT a chance to go to a great college and get a fantastic education. Playing a sport in college will give that student great time management skills and learn how to balance schoolwork with sports. Some athletes could be as lucky as to go on and play professionally. It also helps with jobs and landing that dream career you’ve always
The biggest schools that are located in North Carolina would be Duke University, University of North Carolina, University of North Carolina Wilmington, and last, but not least, is North Carolina State University. These schools are top schools that are in North Carolina that are bringing in big revenues to the schools. Athletes that are playing for these schools are putting their hard work and dedication into the sport that they are playing. College athletes are giving a scholarship to play for their school that provides them their free education. Athletes that are attending colleges and universities are seeking a paycheck for playing a sport while attending school, but they should not because their education is being paid for by the scholarship,
There is a wide variety of evidence to support the theory that former school athletes benefit from playing sports later in life. Being a part of a team teaches these kids to closer get to know people they might not and to play to their strengths. Along with leadership abilities they also have an easier time taking orders and working hard. Former athletes are also known to have higher confidence in themselves. All of these things I just described will better them and their future especially when trying to apply for a job as these are the traits employers want.
Kevin Kniffin, a teacher in sports leadership and management, at Cornell University says, “Research shows that people who play high school sports get better jobs, with better pay. Benefits that last a lifetime.” (Kniffin;10-11-15) Playing a high school sport attracts the eyes of employers for reasons that brings about a great deal of sense.
As a high school student it can be hard to go through day to day life and still be relaxed. That is why it can be a great thing for a student to have a sport in their life. All though there are many benefits of playing a high school sport, the three main benefits to focus on are keeping kids active and safe. Helping to increase students social skills. It gives a great incentive to keep good grades in school. High school classes are certainly tougher, but sports can help ease that because they help to relieve the stress, and give students support and some new friends.
After school sports are a big deal in America. Although many children believe that sports help them reduce stress; numerous studies have shown that students have been distracted from academics. Therefore, districts should get rid of after school sports because they cost too much money, they take away focus from academics, and kids will get better grades.
High school sports and weight training can always help and benefit in a positive way. Some ways that I've found during my research are these. Having the ability to represent a community (Brown). Stewart Brown said “When you play for your high school you are representing the community in which you live. You will participate against other communities and enjoy the sporting rivalries that have developed over numerous generations before you.” Another way is Fitness. Keeping kids active and healthy is one main highschool goal all around the country (Chen). If the student were to break any records or achieve any big achievements then they will be recognized by that in the years to come.
According to Amir lanis KHELIL, “Playing sports teaches life lessons like discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, accountability, and teamwork.” High school athletes who are challenged every day in the classroom often find that having a break from all the school gives them a mental refresher. Sports help students develop distinct qualities that a classroom could never teach. For example, sports help teach athletes how to work with one another rather than working alone. High school athletes who develop these features are more prepared to go out into the real world than are students who do not play sports. Building mental toughness, physical health, and discipline establishes the groundwork of becoming a successful high school athlete.
High school sports have many benefits. Life skills and important character traits can be learned through sports. Leadership, teamwork, participation, and sportsmanship are all outcomes of sports and teamwork. All of these life skills will be needed as the student-athletes grow into adulthood and begin living on their own.
Sports can be a unifying force, too. Parents of high school students who participate in sports have higher expectations for their children. They will drive their children to work harder and achieve more potential. Girls find participation in sports to be a way to break gender stereotypes, enhancing their sense of possibility. Also, playing team sports can minimize feelings of difference and isolation.
