The (BLM) black lives matter movement is a group of people that have the same view on the the racial inequality in the united states and after trump won the election has had more riots and strikes saying that he is not their president. Well if you live here he sure is, but the BLM are the people that will not accept that he is the president and so they riot because they feel it will help. The BLM is a small domestic terrorist movement, they protest over small things and only having to do with black lives and if it will benefit them, and they do not care what happens to other people's property or lives they might destroy. The BLM is a type of small domestic terrorist movement because they destroy building and cars and then they do not care …show more content…
As they protest the police can do very little to stop them because they will yell about police brutality and many other things and so as they march the horde grows and get bigger and they destroy small businesses and many people ways of living and they do not care what they do and when they finally get their point they the devastation they leave in their wake is unbelievable they say they want to make america good again befor that can happen the people need to help and fix the problem because the damages done cost people thousands of dollars or even tens of thousands of dollars.
As the protests grow they destroy and vandalize many small businesses and the protesters do not care who they hurt and when they destroy the business they are destroying people's livelihood and costing the them money that they may not have and when they get it fixed they are in debt and they don't care just as long as if they can get in they will steal the thing in the shop and get away wit it because there are too many people to stop the bad ones but even if they do they all will yell police brutality and that it is racist because they are black and many other reasons to do it and riot
BLM is different because they want “a civil rights movement-type of change that shakes up politics and breaks the cycle of violence and silence” (Sider, Simon, par. 8). Unlike the Sons of Liberty, the Black Lives Matter movement does not condone violence especially on innocents. Yes, as a group they had some mishaps with a few radicals, but they are learning from their mistakes and are trying to weed out the people who will tarnish what the movement is about. Not like the Sons of Liberty who condoned and outsourced violent criminals. The Black Lives Matters movement tries to make change legally like having a sit in at a police station until the officers released a shooting tape in a case of an officer killing a black male. Although violence tried to arise due to tempers the group did not give in to mob mentality. They did not drag the officers out of the department and tar them, nor did they vandalize the building. Since they did things the peaceful way the case is now being looked into, and the officers who were involved in the shooting are now on leave. The protest group is also delving more into politics, the group wants the Black voice to be heard on a more intellectual
The Black Lives Matter (BLM) Movement is a movement against police brutality. This movement began after 17-year-old boy, Trayvon Martin was fatally shot, and his killer, former police officer, George Zimmerman was acquitted for the crime. (BLACKLIVESMATTER.COM) As Black Lives Matter has continued to make a difference through peaceful protests on a mass scale , such as kneeling during the national anthem at sporting events or peaceful protests after a shooting. Many have claimed that the movement is extremely offensive, against police officers, or that African Americans are claiming superiority over other races, while others continue to support the movement. The fight between Blue Lives Matter, All Lives Matter, and Black Lives Matter continuously strikes violent riots, but the question still stands- what is the Black Lives Matter movement really trying to accomplish?
Black Lives Matter is an international activist movement that started within the African-American communities. This movement is organized by Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi. Ever since the black people have stepped on American soil, they have continued to be victims of racism and violence. From slavery to lynching to segregation, the black people have suffered alot in this country. In the past few years, there are so many of them that have been targeted by the law enforcement authorities across the country. This movement’s goal is to raise awareness of racism and violence against African-Americans. They wants African-American to live with dignity and respect like other Americans do.
Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi created a movement centered towards black Americans which later turned into Black Live Matter. Those three leaders came together in 2013 after the Trayvon Martin case that devastated the black community. Black Live Matter, also known as BLM, became an organization that has a mission to give power and a voice to violence inflicted on Black communities. So many black injustices went unnoticed and ignored, but this group will not stand to let that happen again. Injustice to the black community is what causes so many protests and movements that make the Black Lives Matter organization stronger than ever. .
Numerous times, protests start off as untroubling. In fact, they are beneficial to a certain extent, for they “provide a vent to society and also allow governments to understand better the issues their citizens are facing” (UN News Centre 2012). However, often these protests cross this blurry line and are rendered violent, causing danger to the American people. A recent example of a protest transforming into a riot was the Anti- Trump protest in Portland. These protests started off as being peaceful and allowed the protesters to express their opinions on the issue. However, the protesters eventually became so invested in the matter that it quickly mutated into a riot with people smashing windows, kicking cars, and vandalizing buildings (USA TODAY 2016) .This rapid change from peace to violence is a result of the blurry line between what is considered peaceful and what is considered violent. Due to the few restrictions on both the right to petition and assemble, what is perceived as violent is open to interpretation. More specifically, the protesters may not have deemed that kicking cars and smashing windows was violent; thus, they proceeded with these clearly dangerous activities anyways. Since the unlimited nature of both of these rights leaves a massive gray area in regards to what is
Many people are aware of the largest hate groups found in the United States. Two of them being the Ku Klux Klan and the New Black Panther Party. They threaten or harm a specific population, and both cause diversity in the United States. The Black Lives Matter movement is a hate group because they threaten and harm a specific population using physical abuse and speech while causing diversity in the United States.
The movement “Black Lives Matter” was founded officially in 2013, but began in 2012 with the trial of George Zimmerman allegedly murdering Trayvon Martin(Miller). The movement was founded by multiple people including: Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi(Miller). From its creation, Black Lives Matter has been involved in a series of protests which have frequently turned violent, and given the movement a poor reputation among US citizens. However, some of the uppers in the movement claim that the only way for people of America to really pay attention to their movement is to partake in civil disobedience(Green). With the movement having a side aimed at potentially harming others for attention or a spotlight from the media, the people within the movement appear to want this problem solved now for the harm to stop on both fronts. The people involved in the movement also state, “We’re going to curse at you. We’re going to throw some stuff at you. We might even tip over a police car or two, but you will not just come into our
Protests riots in the United States has proven to an issue for both the country’s financial strength and the unity of the nation. With the presence of social injustices, combined with the increased impact of social media propaganda, protests riots are beginning to reach an all time high. Protest riots destroy individual communities and businesses, jeopardizes the safety of others and taints the protest’s cause by resorting to civil disobedience. Action must be done in order to prevent these random acts of violence from continuing after every social hot topic. The goal is not to prevent citizens from protesting; in fact, this should be encouraged. The goal is to change the way the protests are handled from both the citizens and authority perspectives, in order to prevent these protests from escalating into something dangerous.
Black Lives Matter (BLM) and Civil Rights Movement (CRM) are two movements where black people fight for their rights, but is BLM actually effective? BLM is an ineffective activism group that doesn’t achieve their main goal of making more racial justice in America. Although some may think that BLM is effective, it isn’t because of how it hasn’t done much but use a social media hashtag to bring itself into reality. For these reasons, BLM shouldn’t continue because of how it doesn’t get its activists anywhere in achieving its main goal. On the whole, BLM should be abandoned because of how insufficient its activism and protests are.
The Black Lives Matter movement began in 2013 after George Zimmerman was found not guilty of the murder of 17 year-old Trayvon Martin. About a year after Martin’s death, an 18 year-old unarmed male, Michael Brown, was shot and killed by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. That sparked weeks of protests. Years later, Asians, Latinos, and some whites joined in and realized how big of a problem this was becoming. As the years go by, the BLM Movement will keep growing and will not go
I enjoyed reading your response and agree that this is a touchy subject and open to different interpretations. The problem that I see with the Black Lives Matter movement is that although they may not be condoning the actions of the people who are calling for the “lynching of whites and murders of police” (Shadwick, 2015). Those people are still associated with the movement and therefore tarnish any peaceful attempt to create justice in the black community. In the case of domestic terrorism and public opinion what I believe the BLM movement should do in these cases is call for peaceful protest and distance themselves from any condoned violence, violent groups, and violent actions. Additionally, if they want to be viewed in a favorable
EVEN IN THE SPLINTERED AND OFTEN FRACTIOUS world of social justice movements, Black Lives Matter doesn't fit easily into existing categories. Few grassroots uprisings have done as much, in such a short period of time, to focus attention on long-neglected issues of racial justice, gender, and economic inequality. Yet so far, BLM has not followed up on its initial victories by building the kind of lasting, hierarchical organizations that grew out of the civil rights movement; nor has it dedicated itself to a single, easily identifiable goal, like enacting the Voting Rights Act. How are we to make sense of organizers who themselves remain so loosely organized? And if Black Lives Matter isn't devoting itself primarily to bringing about substantive legal and legislative change, then how can it hope to transform its resistance into lasting and meaningful gains in human rights?
The Black Lives Matter movement has swept across America. It 's branched out with chapters in over 31 cities and held rallies and boycotts across the United States(Sidner). The Black Lives Matter movement started with the outrage of the death of a young man. It continues to take over headlines and raise awareness on police brutality and inequality. However, the movement has met resistance from the All Lives Matter group. This group thinks that Black Lives Matter is a movement to express hatred towards other races. However, statistics, the views of fellow citizens, and the overall purpose of the Black Lives Matter movement, can prove that the movement wasn 't meant to express hate on other races and that we need to support the movement instead of going against it.
the focus of Black Lives Matter is being articulated less as a demand for specific civil or political rights, and more as a broader claim for “black humanity.” Martin Luther King also used the language of human rights to internationalize the issue of racial inequality in the United States. BLM movement is following in king’s footsteps, taking a stance and demanding action. Both movements fight for freedom but in ways that seem to be opposite of the other, one in love, and one in hate.
Some people believe that violent protest do not promote change. They believe that it is just a way for the protesters to get on tv.
