Bethany Hamilton was a 13 year old surfer who was attacked by a 15 foot tiger shark. While in the hospital she made goals to get back on the board. Bethany Hamilton is an American professional surfer who survived a shark attack in 2003 which resulted in her left arm was bitten off but, ultimately returned to her love of surfing and was victorious in later professional surfing competitions. She was home-schooled from 6th grade and went back to school for high school. She was raised into a Family of surfers and started competitive surfing at age 8, but her career was held back when a shark bit her arm off at the game of Thirteen. At age Nine she was offered a sponsorship About her love of surfing.
Before Thanksgiving Bethany went back to the beach for the first time since the attack. She was very brave going back to the beach after what happened. Even though the shark could still be there, she wouldn't let that stop her. She started walking up to the water, her freinds and family cheers made her feel that she could do this even more.
“I was just attacked by a shark!” An elite thirteen year old amateur surfer had just got attacked. Bethany Hamilton was at the beach with her best friend Alana. While surfing Bethany got attacked by a tiger shark! The sharks bite off her arm. Alana’s dad Holt took control while Bethany was in a state of daze, but Bethany stayed calm. Choosing an individual that has overcome adversity was difficult because there were many options. When reviewing my options, I realized Bethany Hamilton was my best choice. She is known as the “Soul Surfer”. She is not an elite thematicization, or famous artist, or even a freedom fighter but she is an inspiration. Bethany was just a teenager who had a lifelong dream of becoming a pro surfer. One day she went surfing with her friends and left as a victim of a violent shark attack that took her left arm. It took a while but this attack did not break her spirit or faith.
Bethany Hamilton is a courage’s girl. Bethany had the courage to forefeel her surfing dream. She tried over and over more than seven time. Because she wonted to complete her dream to serf also Bethany won the teens choice award in 2004 for courage. A year later she won first place at the National Championship. That was all a award for the way that she handled the hole thing.

On the morning of October 31, 2003, Bethany went out to surf at Tunnels Beach in Ha'ena with her best friend, Alana Blanchard, and Blanchard's father and brother. While lying on her board,she suddenly felt intense pressure on her left arm and was pulled back and forth for a few seconds. Originally feeling no pain, she noticed the water around her had turned red, and her friends realized that her left arm had been bitten off nearly to the shoulder. The process of healing after that was challenging and hard for her, but she overcame it with her faith in God and hard work.
