A theory with links to transitions is bowlby's attachment theory. Bowlby's theory says in order for children to become confident emotionally in their later life is by making sure they have a strong and positive relationship with their primary caregiver. His theory has influenced practice by the setting having procedures in order for the child to build a positive relationships with their teacher or key worker within the setting. If a child has a positive relationship within the setting it will help the child to feel more safe and secure with if the setting. The setting could provide the child with a key worker which would ensure that the child's basic needs are being met. In this transition the setting could provide the child with a one to one

An important idea in the film “Billy Elliot” directed by Stephen Daldry is the idea of not living up to the expectations of family and society and because of that, being trapped within these expectations. As Billy has grown up in a working class town where all the men are expected to go out and work in the coal mines after school, the idea of Billy being a dancer is an extreme polarity and therefore it leaves Billy feeling trapped and as though he is letting his family down. This idea is shown by the director through cinematography, dialogue and imagery
During their lives children and young people all experience some sort of transitions. These could be either common transitions or less common transitions. Common transitions include; being left with an unfamiliar carer, changing schools, starting puberty. Less common transitions include; them, a family member or friend becomes seriously ill, or dies, them or a close friend moves away, their parents split up and get divorce meaning they have to live with only one parent or between the two.
Billy Elliot was a story of adversity and struggle. It follows a young boy who becomes a great success at ballet after he starts attending dance classes instead of his boxing classes. The play uses parallel storylines of the struggle for coal mine workers’ rights and Billy’s struggle to become a great dancer. It takes place in an impoverished town in the UK during the 80’s but it was performed in 2017 at the Berkeley playhouse. The play is impactful because it satires gender stereotypes and advocates for the payoff of hard work.
Does going through transition have a huge influence in your life? Good afternoon. Transition is the process or period of changing from one state to another. Every single one of us have experienced both positive and negative changes throughout our lives that have had an impact on our attitudes and behaviour. The novel by J.C Burke “The story of Tom Brennan” and the film “ What’s eating Gilbert Grape?” by Lasse Hallström both explore the notion of personal development being caused by an individuals approach towards transformation.
I have learned that the same transitions can be hard for some children to tackle while other children might not be affected too much by the transition. By undertaking research on this theme I was able to identify that some children may need an individual transition plan to follow when going through transitions while other children will follow the general plan. By knowing this in the future I will be aware that some children may need an individual transition plan and I will be able to accommodate a plan for the children who needs one. This will have an impact on the children I will be working with because I will be able to accommodate for their needs and identify children who may be more in need than others.
Transition within early years education is a major life event that a child and family go through together. Currently, educational transition is defined as the process of change that children make from one place or phase of education to overtime, Fabian and Dunlop (2002). Starting school is a huge step in a child’s life. For some
I am able to overcome change pretty quickly though. When it comes to working hands on and outside of a classroom, I feel more comfortable working in groups. I cope good with flexibility. I am able to get acostomed to a change and be flexible enough to work with it.
Billy Elliot explores the concept of identity and how it can shaped and changed through life experiences. It tells the story of an 11-year-old boy named Billy, and his father, Jackie, amidst a mining strike in a town in Northern England during the mid-1980s. Billy creates his personal identity through dance as it is a means of expressing himself. In Billy’s world, strict stereotypes dealing with gender and sexual identity are enforced, which created not only an internal personal battle for Billy, but also an external conflict between him and his family. As a result, he was ashamed of and forced to hide his talent and passion for dance, shown in the quote, “I feel like a right sissy”. The song “Town called Malice” was played in Billy’s main
Billy Elliot, directed by Stephen Daldry, details the life of an 11-year-old working-class boy who is caught up in the poverty and violence of North-east England during the 1984 miner’s strikes. Two of these were family traditions and expectations, and social class. Billy also received help to overcome many obstacles, this help came from Mrs Wilkinson.
At times in life there comes something called change. In my opinion, I was not a big fan of change. You cannot imagine how I was feeling when my mother announced that we were moving. It was the middle of my sixth-grade year, I was feeling countless emotions, none that could be explained at the moment of the announcement. The main thing on my mind was school; my friends, my outstanding teachers, and the environment. All things I had left behind. All I could think about was, “How will I ever adjust?” I knew exactly what was to come, I knew exactly what I was going to become, an outcast. There were numerous of ways on why I was feeling this way, but
Transitions are considered by the Life Course Perspective to be changes in roles and statuses that represent a distinct departure from prior roles and statuses. (page 14) They can affect a child in a myriad of ways: both positively and negatively and many center on the experience the child has in the family construct. The way that the child moves through these transitions can define their life trajectory and the choices later in life. An example of this can be seen in “The Season’s of Life” series, Trey transitioned into a new
This illustrates the importance for helping my clients prepare for predicted transitions, such as what to do after Year 11 or their initial entry into employment. ‘Transitions do not begin on the first day a person is in a new environment. The preparation stage
