Some examples are including traditional music, nontraditional music, and also music where more than one cultural tradition interacts. Bob Marley influenced other genres of music because of his personality and beliefs. He has been well respected due to his background being a poor Jamaican farmer boy who caught a lot of sorrow for being half white and half black. Living in the pain of poverty and being raised in the ghetto of Kingston, his representation of international gratitude was for one reason which was he didn't need the use of stage costumes, fireworks, and stage props, Bob Marley just was himself. He influenced Bono of U2 and Carlos Santana who then picked up his common battle cry for the troubles of the world. Bob Marley has become the international symbol for Freedom and singing for recovery of the human soul. Bob's song “One Love” has been developed into being a tourist board song for Jamaica due to his background and love for his home. Bob's music was very positive and reflective. He spoke of work, of how everything in life has a purpose & reason and it’s our jobs as humans to find that out. Bob didn't have to use vulgar lyrics to get his message across. (Global Grind) It’s been thirty years from the time when the death of Bob Marley occurred and he is not only still popular, but his influence is still alive and well in hip-pop music today. Bob Marley’s music broke obstacles which is causing new artists to challenge themselves by wanting to compete against his career durability but also add some of his inspiration to their own music and sound. From the start of his world music career, Marley was always in his own path and had his own way of becoming successful. His dedication to his Rastafarian faith and his home country spoke to the “flower power” era full of free love and free thinking. There’s no real method behind how a young singer from Jamaica succeeded to blow-out his message across the world picking up a good number of fans from Switzerland to Africa, to the United States, and

Music is emotionally expressive; the appeal of music lies in its ability to express our moods. This paper will focus on content analysis of emotions regarding two songs from two different eras. Bob Marley is a name most people know but his accomplishments and dedication to music is often overlooked. Bob was more than just a reggae artist, he was an inspiration to the country of Jamaica. He was a role model to the poverty stricken island and gave hope to many people. Bob was born on February 6, 1945 in his grandfather's house. He was the son of a poor farm girl and a British naval Captain. Soon after his birth Bob's father, Norval Marley, left his mother. He remained responsible and provided financial support and occasionally came back to see them. In the 50's a depression hit Jamaica and Bob followed his mother to West Kingston also known as Trenchtown. It was in Trenchtown were Bob's love for music began.
Bob Marley is generally known globally for countless topics ranging from becoming a symbol of piece, to the different messages he attempts to spread in his songs. Being born in Jamaica, the struggles of his life helped him to realize what his purpose in life was, however, I believe even Bob Marley himself would be slightly shocked at how extensively his music has impacted the world. Because he was born in 1945, he was able to see the Civil Rights Movement progress and in some cases helped it by integrating his foreign, Rastafarian culture into America’s music market. Bob Marley was also born a couple of months before World War II ended so, in addition, he knew how separated the world actually was, so he tried to encourage messages of peace and positivity for everyone throughout some of his music. All in all, Bob Marley’s music goes deeper than just sounds categorized as Reggae, his music helped mold American culture by slowly developing foreign ideas and generally promoted positivity with peace for everyone.
Marley never got to go home for his farewell concert and his cancer was aggravated by the exhausting trip from Germany to Jamaica. A national hero to Jamaica, the Jamaican Government presented Bob Marley with the Order of Merit, as well a year before his death he was awarded the Medal of peace by the United Nations. At the National Arena in Kingston more than 30,000 people came to his memorial to mourn the death of a beloved musician. In 1994 he was finally immortalized in the music industry by being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. While it’s been decades since Bob Marley sang his last song, his music and values still live on through the legacies he left behind. His fight for human rights continues through the Bob Marley Foundation, which helps people living in developing
According to www.talks.cam.ac.uk, “Globalization emphasises difference, promotes pluralism, and increases diversity through the accelerating circulation of a multiplicity of cultural practices. In turn, music affected these elements of globalization in significant and often unexpected ways.”
When you hear the name Bob Marley what do you think? I know I thought of the Rasta movement and the colors green, yellow and red. I thought of a symbol being abused to justify the smoking of cannabis. But if I was to tell you that Bob Marley may be one of the most influential political activists of all time.
In this portion of the paper I will be focusing on Bob Marley and give an introduction to who he is, how he learned his music and how he became famous.
While many artists can reach the level of musical icons during their recording time, a few continue to remain relevant after they have died, and even fewer can touch peoples hearts and souls with as much power today as when they were alive, Bob Marley is one such artist. As Robert Palmer wrote for Marley’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, “ No one in rock and roll has left a musical legacy that matters more or one that matters in such fundamental ways.” A few years ago while I was at a fast food restaurant, there were two women behind the counter, one younger and one older. While waiting for my order I overheard the younger woman confiding in the older woman about some life issues that she was going through at the time.

Without a doubt, Bob Marley changed the future of music and the black community around him. Despite the fact that he grew up in a rough environment in the ghettos of Trenchtown it does not mean that you can’t be different. His gateway from falling away from the negativity was through music. He was a very positive and deep thinker influenced by Mr.Higgs his vocalist.
Stevie Wonder should be remembered for inspiring many artists and winning many awards in musical arts. John Legend suggests you should “love your curves and all your edges, all your perfect imperfections,” but for some reason people have a hard time accepting their bodies. Everyday men and women struggle with their body image and accepting how they look. They feel like if they do not look a certain way they are not good enough and they will not live a happy life. People are constantly pressured to change their bodies due to the standards of society and they are willing to do anything to achieve this body of “perfection.”
Reggae music was a big part of Jamaican culture. Many artists practiced the style of reggae and some of the artists like Bob Marley influenced and showed people internationally all about this music. It originated around the time that Jamaica was being attacked by European countries like Spain and native people being taken into slavery. Bob Marley was born after the time of slave trading but whites still effected the native people and this is how he got his inspiration for his music.
