You can have your heart broken by anything like losing a family member, your love one breaking up with you or your favorite character from a book or show got killed off. In my case, I went through a break up with my long term boyfriend. We were together for two years, I broke up with him and five months later, we reconnected and got back together but after three months of getting back together, he dumped me . I was fifteen when we first got together and we were different, he loved to go out at night, went to parties, which he did not have rules and regulation and well me, I was the opposite. I didn't not like to go out to parties, loved to stay at home, and had rules and regulation. That changed when I started to get older, I got to do more

People were mistreated during WWII and were tortured in POW camps. Louie Zamperini, a character and a real person from the book Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, was in the army during WWII and had to go through the torture of being a prisoner at a camp in Japan. In the book Unbroken, Louie was going to be a famous Olympic runner until the Olympics were cut short when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and caused World War II to start. What would you have done if you were stranded on a raft with two other men for 44 days with provisions to last less than 3 days? This is one of the easiest things Louie Zamperini had to endure in “Unbroken”, by Laura Hillenbrand. The most important thing to be learned from the life of Louis Zamperini is to never crack under pressure, because of his survival on a raft, how he withstood the cruelty of the bird, and how he survived through the torture of Japanese POW camps.
War is a state of armed conflict between different nations, states or groups (War). No one can think of a time when the United States has not been in a war because this nation is constantly fighting. The element of war is seen throughout the novel Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, it is seen throughout the movie as well. In Unbroken whenever planes went missing there were search planes to look for those them. In some unfortunate cases, “Search planes appear to have been more likely to go down themselves than find the men they were looking for” (Hillenbrand 91). During this time of war in the novel, if some of the

The first cooking show I watched was Chopped. Chopped is a competition show where contestants are given a diverse array of ingredients that are unusual and don’t necessarily go well together. Some of the strange ingredients the contestants were given included pink marshmallow peeps, a chocolate bunny, and also a lamb leg. The idea is to create a dish using all the ingredients you are given to make a dish. There are three rounds, appetizer, entrée, and dessert. Each round one contestant is eliminated or “chopped” from the competition until two contestants are left standing in the dessert round. The show is hosted by a man, Ted Allen and there were three judges, this episode there was a male and two females. The contestants were equally distributed in respect to gender, two male, two female, also
Beyond athletes, Cutter High School also contains problematic coaches. Part of the reason T.J. doesn’t participate on other sports teams at school is because of the coaching staff. He explains, “Coaches have tried to get me to turn out for sports since junior high. Sometimes they’re insistent and sometimes downright nasty…even to the point of calling me a traitor” (11). These are grown men who place an overwhelming amount of importance on their sports and can’t look past their goal of winning. T.J. refers to Coach Benson, the football coach, and Coach Roundtree, the basketball coach, noting that at some point he’s sure the two coaches would “retreat to the time-tested and highly grating tool of public humiliation as a motivator” (12). Besides the way this coaching style grates personally on T.J., it shows a lack of tolerance from these coaches as well as a lack of respect for the very
Nowadays, phones have been glued to our hands. But how many people would be attracted to their phones if they know they are being tracked? Over the recent years as technology began to grow phones has been a big success. People are making calls, sending text messages, accessing the Internet , and sharing personal data.It doesn't matter whether your phone is a smartphone or whether you use it to make calls; as long as your phone is turned on, it registers its location with cell phone networks several times a minute, and all U.S. cell phone companies hold on to that data, some of them for years.
Redlining is the practice of denying services, either directly or through selectively raising prices, to residents of certain areas based on the racial or ethnic makeups of those areas (Wikipedia). Redlining refers to the actual act of drawing red lines on maps to denote where banks were not going to invest in because they are a liability to the bank. This leads into the term being used to describe the discrimination against other people normally due to race or sex. Redlining is a disgusting idea that reminds us of the old days of inequality and it is saddening that people discriminate against others because they have a different skin tone.
Rylee Pearce Mrs. Combs English IIII 29 Nov 2016 Organ Donation in the U.S. In 2015 there were 122,071 patients waiting for an organ transplant, but only 15, 062 donors. The number of patients increases rapidly while the number of willing donors increases at a slower rate. In the novel Unwind by Neal Shusterman, there is a compromise between pro-life and pro-choice, this compromise also benefits organ donation. “...if more people had been organ donors, unwinding never would have happened… but people like to keep what's theirs, even after they're dead.” (Shusterman 224).
Without any rules or laws in a society, humans cannot be controlled or changed, similar to cavemen in a caveman’s world. “You can’t change human nature without first changing laws”-Nurse Greta. Once people in the society change a law, the human nature will emerge and change to meet that law's requirements. Most people in a society will follow a law that has been set into place, therefore possibly change their human nature in a positive way. Similarly, in the novel, Unwind, by Neal Shusterman, the society created new laws about pro-life and pro-choice for the people, in which, abortion becomes abolished and unwinding came in pursuit.

Most of the time when you think about heartbreak, you think about a boy and a girl who were madly in love and then one day something tragic happens, and they have a catastrophic breakup. My first heartbreak was nowhere near that. My first heartbreak was a feeling that makes the pit of your stomach feel like it just fell through your body and sends a cold chill into the center of your soul. Although heartbreaks can evoke pain and suffering for a while, sometimes everything does work out for you, and it will all be worth it.
Since the beginning of time it has been human nature to seek community and inclusion, over isolation and separation. We as a species have a need to belong, and it has been theorized that we are fundamentally pack animals. However our ideology of community can harm the individual, putting them at risk of becoming a drone for “higher ranking” members of the group. Lacking free thinking, and only reviewing choices or decisions as a group, limiting the individual's liberal cognitive functioning. But the group as a whole is also at risk of becoming biased, viewing other groups with different ways of thinking, life, or even as simple as skin color as inferior. This correspondingly will lead to the unfair treatment and bigotry of others, and
"Over-thinking ruins you. Ruins the situation, twists things around, make you worry and just makes everything much worse than it actually is". This quote reflects my high school journey because I am always stressing over the small things and over-thinking every situation that pops in my head and all my assignments that were given to me I use to freak when I procrastinated and I thought I was going to fall behind. Also, I had many projects and they were all a final grade and I worried so much and was so stressed out when I felt stuck or had no idea how to start them. Over-thinking has really been a problem for me and affected my grades and attitude towards class.
