Breaking The Limitations In Music
Music has always been seen as a way of entertainment. Throughout many eras musicians have kept their ways to their traditions. From instrumentation to the composition itself. Throughout the ages, music has mostly been a set in stone factor. But since the 20th century things have begun to change. Musicians are breaking away from the traditions of the past and reaching new areas of music. Technology is developing to creating new sounds and instruments can change how to be played and used. That musical styles have been developed and the compositions have altered with devices that can record and playback music in your own home

With his developments, the music world has heard a new sound. One of his major creations in music is in fact a wire recorder. This machine may not seem like much but it has been able record then playback music in your own home without the instruments themselves. This has truly become a great breakthrough instead of needing a musician in the household to keep smaller gatherings entertained. Now they can be entertained with only themselves. As said by brindle: “(One of the first electronic music compositions - John Cage’s Imaginary Landscape No. 1 (1939) - had oscillator frequencies recorded on two 78 r.p.m. gramophone records, but normally such a system was too expensive and inflexible to be practicable.) It took a world war to produce what was almost the right instrument - the wire recorder - which was later replaced by the tape recorder, so manipulated, made permanent, or discarded, with incredible ease and at negligible cost. Once the tape recorder was perfected (about 1950), and its potentialities fully realized, other electronic sound equipment (either already existing or suitably modified) could be assembled to form the first electronic music studio” (99, Brindle). This development of the Wire recorder has lead to such great historical developments. From the wire recorder lead to the tape recorder and soon music was able to be taken anywhere anyone wished it to be. The development of the wire recorder was originally made by John Cage
Music has had an influence on society from the very beginning of musical history. The message portrayed in each genre is based on what society perceives and wants to listen. Musicians often times produce music that sells and this sometimes are only beneficial to their pockets and in turn creates havoc in society. People interpret music differently and this causes them to react a certain way to different
Music has been enjoyed for centuries by people of different cultures, languages, and religions. It is used for general enjoyment, as an outlet for relaxation, and as an auditory distraction from the stressors of daily living.
Music is present in every culture’s past, present, and future. It has been around since 500 B.C. and was especially important in the Elizabethan Era. There were reinventions of music as it was widespread and popular. Without this essential time in history, modern music may have been completely different from what we have today. This era brought new uses for music, styles of compositions, new instruments, and the uprising of popular composers.
Music is built on a very sophisticated foundation that is expressed through a variety of technicalities and rules. As an art form, music has survived through many era’s that have evolved genre’s and sounds into its culture. The ages of music that were most prominent included the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern era’s. Within these years (1600-1900’s) music was distinguished for separate motives, audiences, and demands. Chamber music for example, was created for small audiences in the nobility, while Concert music was used for larger audiences in concert halls of varying classes. Absolute music was abstracted sound with no particular motive, while Program music was played for specified themes and stories that usually involved heroism
For as long as mankind has walked on this earth, music has been an important part of our culture and lifestyles. Each walk of life beats to a different drum. Different cultures use music for many aspects of their lives; for religious purposes, for celebrations, for comfort, for sorrow, for relaxation, for sports, for dances, for energy, for learning, for sleeping, and for sexual experiences. Everyone uses music for something. Music connects with people and reaches them in ways that words simply cannot. Music is a representation of what feelings sound like. It expresses emotion and brings that characteristic out from within us; it tells us a story. Every generation has its’ own sound and different music styles have emerged and become
Music is remarkable for its special nature, which it is heritability. Music itselfs does not only give all music notes but innovation and inspiration from
Music has evolved too many different forms that we recognize today. We trace this development throughout time. Beginning in the middle ages, we have seen advancement from the Gregorian chant all the way to the Jazz of the 20th century. The current events, politics, religion, technology and composers can shape musical eras during time. Here I will look at the middle ages, renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic and twentieth century periods. I hope that a better understanding can be reached to why, when, where and who are the reasons for musical evolution.
With its extensive history, the role of music in our lives is very unlikely to ever lose its importance. Its presence in every culture has kept music relevant for centuries and will continue to do so despite any lack of sales or interest in other forms of entertainment. Music has always existed; just because it is easier to obtain doesn’t mean it is any less valuble.
Music is a very long-lasting and powerful thing in our world. It has a long history with many genius artist and innovators. One of these people is Beethoven. Beethoven is universally known as one of the greatest musicians of all time. Even during his life music changed a lot and has continued to change even after his life. Around his time in the 18th century you could only see music in a live performance. This made music a strictly social arena. Nowadays we can listen on our iPods or computers by ourselves with headphones. As music evolved from just being able to be seen live it became less and less social. That may be seen as a negative of the evolution of music by many but I while able to understand that point of view see it as a positive. The reason why I see it as mostly positive is
Music has been changing since the time that it was creating was so many centuries ago. The changes to music are always happening, however; this past year has been a great example of the way music changes. For example, this one band that had become more known last year was Twenty One Pilots. Their music too many people have revolutionized the way music is made. This band doesn’t stay to one just genre of music they are all over the range of different types of music styles. This type of
Music is made up from rhythm and beats with notes and feelings, vocal and/or instrumental sounds combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion. Yet, music is so much more than notes on paper, music represents movements in time, music is memories, history, connections, relaxation and escape. Many people are influenced by music they listen to. “Music is much more than mere entertainment. It has been a feature of every known human society—anthropologists and sociologists have yet to find a single culture throughout the course of human history that has not had music” (Greenberg, 2016).
Music is something we hear everyday whether it be from our phones,in our cars,or background music wherever we go. Over the years there have been numerous types of music that have different beats, sounds, and different emotions. Such types of music is hip hop and rap, alternative music, and rock and roll music. Music has a long time line and every single sound and type of music is intertwined within each other and influenced by each other. For these reasons music not only defines a type of sound but also recreates lifestyles and defines entire generations. The power of music can be seen from all different types of music.
Music has been evolving since its creation. This evolution of music has led to a vast variety of music that all people can enjoy. Artists who make good music, are praised and revered for their talents, and recently this has led to many aspiring musicians who want to acquire fame and fortune through their music. In the United States music in constantly evolving, and in recent years this evolution of music has sped up to a very fast rate. Music has evolved for many reasons including, improved technology, and change in culture, and a desire to create something new.
Technology is changing the essence of music , technology came to with the advent of recordings. Thomas Edison invented a crude cylinder phonograph in 1877. By the end of the nineteenth century, companies in the United States and England were manufacturing recordings of music.
There are a lot of themes of music among the human history that have caused a great impact in society. Music is consider as a way of expression, because artists can show their perspective about the different situations that society had affronted.
