Presentation:
Before I present let me just take a moment to take a sip of this coffee. Ahhhh that's good.
Now, we all know the feeling that we get once we hit the brick wall after lunch. It gets increasingly more difficult to stay awake during lectures or between classes. Some might grab an after-lunch coffee or others give up and decide to dose off. Although for the ones who try to go grab something before class do not have the time or desire to wait in line for a cup of joe or a snack that would give them the energy that they would need. Now let's take a look at the current situation on our campus: (slide 1) As you can see on the campus map there are only 3 said locations that offer the coffee or caffeine goodness, yet some of these locations have a very limited menu for its customers. Especially Novel Brew, which just so happens to be in the library

Furthermore, all of these locations are not strategically placed throughout the campus, two are one side of the campus and another is at the front next to the bookstore. If you are on the other side of campus and only a few minutes before class or a meeting, good luck trying to get to one of these location, get through a possible line, decided what you would like from a limited menu, which should make you choose quickly since it might be only one or two options, and get to where you need to be in time. Then after all that work you put in might cause you to be tired since you not had to cross campus and now you might be not tired thanks to your caffeine but you might be sweaty or wet and cold since those are the two seasons in Texas. So why not have caffeine stations which are not just coffee shops, in more areas that will provide greater access of products to customers but could also increase profits and diversity of the supply. Since it would not only be more convenient but
Relevance: This is relevant because coffee and college students go hand in hand and many college students will turn to coffee for support in classes.
HELP! I'm dying!... because school lunches are cringing! Students should be allowed to leave class during lunch hours, and be trusted to leave and return back in time for their next class. If high schools gave students this right it would teach them how to manage their time wisely and it would help them become responsible. Students who leave campus during lunch are most likely end up going to a local business to get their lunch which is both good for the students and the local businesses. Students with special food allergies could leave campus during lunch and go to their homes and get food they could actually eat and not be worried that their food could have been cross contaminated to something they're allergic to. Students who leave campus during lunch would come back energized and ready for their next classes.
Students could leave campus, get food, and be back for time given from the school. If students could leave campus to get either a restaurant, get food at home or a fast food restaurant the food would be so much better than the schools food. Students could go to a small restaurant tor a diner. Students could go home and make their selves food. They could go to fast foods restaurants around the area such as McDonald’s, Hardee’s, or Subway. As long as students are back within the amount of time given students should be able to leave campus to get food. School lunches are not healthy for students most of the time. You do not know what the food they are serving you is half the time. If students were allowed to leave school for lunch it would give them a little bit of freedom for an hour. If they could leave campus for lunch it gives them a chance to have a break from their classes. Many students tend to fall asleep in class, if they could have an hour lunch break they could go home eat and rest for a little while. Students may feel trapped staying in one place for 8 hours. Many students also get bored sitting in classes for so long leaving for lunch give them the chance to move around and get out of
According to the researched the demographics of City of La Verne. According to the 2012 statistical summary of City of La Verne (ci.la-verne.ca.us), population was 31,461, which means it is a very small and private town with a very small population. The median age was 43.1, which indicates the population consists of senior people. Besides, there were 11,366 households and median household income was 73,541, which was higher than average household income in Los Angeles County. Therefore, a lot of residents have more time and money to enjoy coffee in store. Meanwhile, students from University of La Verne are very important parts of the target customers, because young college students love to hang out with peers and enjoy coffee. Some of the students also enjoy sitting in store drinking coffee while doing their homework and stuffs
How would you like it if the lunch lines weren’t so full but your students all had a filled stomach? Well I honestly believe that if you gave only 11th and 12th graders the opportunity to leave campus for lunch and it would make everyone’s life easier.
Half of the participants were white around 20-22 of age. The other half of the participants were Asians, mostly Indians, ranging from 19-25. On average all the participants would walk out of the coffee shop as soon as their coffee was handed to them. The vast majoring of the students inside the coffee shop were female, which I was amazed since the boys to female ration is really disproportion at the University. One thing that caught my attention was that there wasn’t many outlets. The only outlet I found was located on the corner all the way to the end of the coffee shop where I was sitting. So if you’re using a laptop or your phone and the batteries is at a low percent I’m sure you are going to walk out. Perhaps this was done by design, people tend to spend a lot of time on their mobile devices at coffee shop. This could had been a way a way for Starbucks to limit the time the student spend sitting down at their on campus coffee
Every year, approximately 6,000 to 22,000 students die on college and University campuses (qtd. in CintroÌn X), and thousands of these deaths can be attributed to alcohol over-consumption (A Sober Assessment of High-Risk Drinking on College Campuses). If there are not appropriate steps taken to address the situation, minors will continue to lose their lives as a result. As individuals enter college, it is likely that they will be exposed to alcohol, whether they meet the legal drinking age or do not. Many of these college students, specifically freshmen, are experiencing freedom for the first time in their lives and it can be relatively easy for them to get carried away, resulting in irresponsible decision making which often involves alcoholic
Off campus Lunch Have you ever wanted lunch that was not from school cafeteria? Today I will talk about off campus lunch. The issue is relevant because most of school lunch food is sometimes bad and expensive. I chose this topic because some people don't like the food the food that is they’re eating in school lunch. I am a credible speaker because of how this issue affects me.
Ever stay up late studying for a test or exam and wake up exhausted? Or just experienced a long day and need an extra boost? Many people believe caffeine is the answer to anyone’s drained state of being. Healthline.com explains that, “Caffeine reaches your brain quickly and acts as a central nervous system stimulant.” Caffeine is commonly referred to the most widely used drug on the planet, so the next question is which caffeine-filled product is the most efficient? It is widely debated whether energy drinks or coffee can provide the best balance of caffeine, flavor, and other ingredients, but after researching, I have come to conclude coffee is superlative in all aspects.
This study compares drinking at off campus parties to on campus parties. A multi-campus survey showed that males under the age of 21 and students living on campus attend at higher rates than female students 21 and older. Having strict on campus drinking policies did not appear to control drinking in dorms. There was found to be a high expectation of risky forms of alcohol consumption associated with off campus parties.
Sara lives with her mother and father who were both alcoholics, so she has always had access to alcohol. Now that she has gone to high school, she has gone to more parties with alcohol and has been open to the stress that getting good grades places on her. One night her best friend, Tom, asked her if she wanted to go to a party with a group of people saying that he would drive. She gladly accepted because she had been studying for chemistry and still was not getting good grades, bringing on stress. The night of the party, Tom picked her up and the drove to the party. When they arrived, she realized that there would be a lot of drinking at this party. She really wanted to fit in, so she took a beer from one of her friend’s coolers. She didn’t
Have you ever wanted a cup of coffee but you decided to skip it because of the long line wait? According to our demographic research at Orin’s Place, in peak times, people usually wait about 10 minutes before they actually get what they ordered. As a result, people are late to their class and distracting their professor and classmates. To solve this problem, Pebble is a service we bring to customers to easily place orders and make payments directly from an app. Meaning that students can place an order right before their break time, and the order will be ready to pick up without standing in the line. During break rush times, people are discouraged from buying a cup of coffee when they see the long line wait, resulting in coffee shops losing
The researchers had hypothesized that students living off campus would consume more alcohol than students living on campus. But as the data has shown that hypothesis had to be rejected. The researchers accepted the null hypothesis that there is little to no difference in alcohol consumption based on residency status. Meaning that there was almost an equal number of students who drank while living on campus as students who drank while living off campus. The results are significant because it shows that residency status of students does not have a direct effect on the amount of alcohol consumed.
Universities and colleges in the United States are split up into different categories. Private, public, four years, and two years are just some of the different types of colleges in the United States. To be even more specific all colleges are broken down into two major categories: dry and wet campuses. Dry campus are basically universities that do not allow alcohol consumption on campus even if you are at the drinking age. Wet campuses are the exact opposite. Most wet campuses are huge schools where they can not control the alcohol consumption, such as the University of Connecticut, Penn State, etc. Dry campuses on the other hand are mostly smaller schools where alcohol consumption can be monitored. Examples of this are ECSU, and all the other Connecticut state schools. The reasons for these differences are because the universities are trying to decrease the amount of drinking on campus, but does this actually work? is the percentage of alcohol consumption lower on dry campuses than wet campuses? After researching these topics and experiencing this first hand it is clear that the percentage of alcohol consumption on dry campuses is not low enough compared to the percentage in wet campus, to be considered a good way of solving the problem of binge drinking in universities. Dry campus restrictions don 't work because they don 't impede students from buying alcohol, they don 't impede them from drinking off campus, and they fail to prevent alcohol related incidents.
A. Attention material: Do you ever feel like you will never make it through the day without caffeine? Is your first thought in the morning to get yourself a cup of coffee before you can even get your day started?
