Cloud sits in his grandparent's living room, bored out of his mind. In comes his sister, Crystal, and plops down next to him. "Bubby, play with me!" She whines. He smiles at her sweetly. She is quite a bit younger than him; ten years, in fact. She is seven and not past her years of an over-active imagination. He, however, is seventeen and just as imaginative, if not more, than his little sister. He doesn't mind it too much; viewing the world as inspirational and bonding with his much younger sister. In his opinion, the only bad thing is how out of place he is at school. They just don't understand. "Let's create a magical land we can visit!" He states excitedly. "Oooh, let's! And Bubby can be the king!" This causes him to chuckle. "You can be the beautiful princess …show more content…
Cloud quickly gathers two pads of paper, some pencils, and some coloring tools. "Do you want to draw the people while I create the land? I'll give you free will on colors and what kind of creature they are." He hands her one of the pads of paper and spreads the pencils and coloring tools between them, on the floor. They lay with the utensils, starting on their designs. He glances over at his sister's paper, two dragons already drawn. They are stunning, as she has a gift with drawing. He looks back at his own paper, a forming candyland. He smiles brightly at his colorful scenery. He heaves himself off the floor to find a pair of scissors and some glue. When he finishes his quest and returns to the floor, he hands the scissors to his sister. "Cut them out and we can paste them onto whichever background you want to." She nods and carefully starts cutting. "I know you've already named them. Mind if I know?" She giggles playfully. "They're a married couple! This is Lucien," she holds up the green and gold dragon. "And this is Rosalind! She likes being called Rosey." She holds up the purple and pink dragon. She stares at the two for a
Brother’s original love for Doodle shows when he says “...to share with him the only beauty I knew, Old Woman Swamp” (2). Brother is taking Doodle to his own “secret hideout,” which he has kept a secret to everyone, making Doodle feel special and included. This illustrates a picture of the loving bond that these brothers share with each other. This changes, when Brother says “Do you want to be different from everyone else when you start school? Does it make any difference?” Doodle says. “It certainly does” (2). At this point, Brother realizes that Doodle is going to be different from everyone else at school, and does not like it. Doodle, however, does not see a problem with him not fitting in. Brother’s pride eventually overtakes his love for Doodle, because he now only wants to help him so that he fits in with everyone
My first day of the second grade, I knew no one except the teacher and my younger brother. Kindergarten and first grade had been easy enough, but I was scared of the upcoming year. The only thing I knew about being the new kid was that it hadn’t panned out too great for Addie from the American Girl books. Mrs. Henson’s class was fairly quiet throughout the day, for most kids were nervous or tired. We neared the end of the day and I was ecstatic over the fact that hadn’t made a complete fool of myself. I hadn’t met anyone yet, but I thought that that would be a challenge for another day. Unfortunately, that’s not what Mrs. Henson had in mind. She sent us all out to recess with a grin plastered on her face and with me practically kicking
When the class sang songs about happiness and games her lips barely moved.” Margot ignored the other children, the only time she participated was when an activity mentioned the sun. Margot keeps herself apart from the rest of the class while she talks about experiences with the sun, when that is what the kids want the most. Although Margot’s classmates hurt her because of their jealousy, Margot was also partly to blame for since she keeps mentioning something that her classmates has always wanted.
The friends of the narrator, however, do not hide in the imaginary world of childhood and are maturing into adolescents. Sally, “ screamed if she got her stockings muddy,” felt they were too old to “ the games” (paragraph 9). Sally stayed by the curb and talked to the boys (paragraph 10).
Everyday, Brother takes Doodle to Old Woman Swamp and the same thing happens: he grabs his little brother, stands him up, then Doodle collapses soon after. Through hard work and perseverance, Doodle eventually learns to walk on his own. Brother gains confidence in Doodle, and now believes in his own ability to do nothing wrong. In Old Woman Swamp, Brother also creates a development program for Doodle. Brother and Doodle’s relationship is beginning to flourish, “Doodle and I spent lots of time thinking about our future. We decided that when we were grown we’d live in Old Woman Swamp and pick dog-tongue for a living...Mama and Daddy could come and live with us if they wanted to. He even came up with the idea that he could marry Mama and I could marry Daddy” (Hurst 4). The daily trips Doodle and Brother take to Old Woman Swamp together slowly strengthen their bond. The beauty of Old Woman Swamp allows Doodle to imagine a perfect world. His innocence causes him to not understand that his idea of a ‘perfect world’ is never going to become a reality. Brother is old enough to know everything Doodle is imagining is a lie, but the picture he is painting is so serene, that all Brother could think to do was to agree. Doodle cherishes every second he has with his older brother, and Brother realizes how precious his little brother really is. Old Woman Swamp is a land of fantasy, whose warmth and comfort gives the two brothers a safe haven.
"Alright I'll tell you, but first my name is Eren. The girl in the red scarf is Mikasa. What about your name."
Moonlight engulfed the island, concealing its dark nature. An eerie silence hung in the air soon broken by the sound of creepers and faint footsteps. A group of boys emerged out of the thick jungle of shadows, with Jack at the lead and Ralph close behind. They walked duly, pace slowing down by the minute. A cool, dense, fog surrounded them, masking their path ahead. Jack squinted his eyes, trying to adjust his vision to the ever growing fog.
Connie, a stereotypical fifteen year old girl, views her life and her family with dissatisfaction. Jealous around her twenty-four year old sister, June, despite June’s outward plainness, and tense around her irksome mother, Connie escapes to the mall with her friends. She and her clique of friends
The day grew lighter and warmer as they strolled along the forest path. Bilbo could remember a year all the trouble they had going through mirkwood the first time. It was much easier this time, as Gandalf was there, and they knew how dangerous it would be to stray from the path. They were almost halfway to beorn's house, and bilbo was very anxious for them to arrive. They were carrying much lighter packs, as the gold and supplies were carried by the ponies. Bilbo felt almost bored, because nothing had happened on their journey back, and he was feeling a little homesick. He wondered what was happening at his hobbit-hole back home. He remembered his crisply made bed with soft cushions and thick blankets. He also thought of his empty cupboards, and began drawing up a list of things he would need for meals. Flour, eggs, butter, spices… hmm. All his meat was surely spoiled, if there was any left. He didn’t remember.
Squidword: "And the lights will flicker on and off." Just like the story. I get it.
“Why not? I killed myself and that guy in the pizzeria and that other dude whose name I don’t remember. And I almost killed eighty-six. Plus I also threw that old ladies off a bridge. That deserves smiting. Can you smite the dead? Huh. Extermination. Yeah, it deserves extermination”
The book presents girls ranging from ages seven to twelve and their ideas on the world around them, responding and reacting to different situations and circumstances and how they are dealt with at that age while also tying in the findings as to how this relates to females entering womanhood and how they were guided or misguided through adolescence. The book starts out with 8-year-old Jessie, who when given a situation by the interviewer of a porcupine living with moles but the quills keep harming the moles, Jessie responds saying the porcupine should build its own path but at nine, she is asked the same question and her response is that the porcupine should be kicked out. The author noted that there was a subtle, yet noticeable change in her personality, becoming more “articulate” and “is able
MenaMoon looked up "yeah it is say is there anyone your maybe crushing on?" she said half joking but she was interested since she always loves to play matchmaker. "As for names for the Kits I'm not sure I only have a couple names picked" she said looking at FairyClaw. Alibaba shocked upon Judal’s words. He hold the magi’s arm and frantically asked: “What do you mean by that? Why did it happen??”
At that moment the seven year old girl and her brother came down the stairs. The young girl sang out a good morning and Danny gave a small nod before returning his gaze upon the hardwood floor. Neil worried about her nephew. The boy who used to be able to light up the room with his smile hadn’t spoken a word in weeks. He never smiled any more and always looked tired.
