In findings throughout every organization, there is a culture that incorporates procedures, ethics, politics, and norms, that may lead to a complete competence of leadership. If I organized nominations to serve on a board or committee, I would like for that board to be function and be represented by people who had passion. Based upon qualifications and passion of Buck Samuels I would give him an interpersonal role as a community liaison. After of interviewing Mr. Samuels, I believe that position would be great for him, due to his passion of being a kinesthetic. Mr. Samuels approached our organization and indicated how he was able to assist and provide us with resources. As a seasoned contractor and having an outgoing personality the role as liaison would our organization meet the need of our mission statement. Having grown directly from an authority position he is able to develop and maintain …show more content…
When reviewing the selection process, it was a privilege that Mr. Samuels chose our organization. In learning the Cycle of Excellence, the connection that distinguished him for anyone else was a great reason have him aboard. Hallowell (2001) wrote, “People who thrive in what they do almost invariably feel that spark Dr. Shine talked about. They engage with hugely positive energy, both with the task and with others” (p. 15). During the interview, one of the questions were, what are you best at? Buck (2016) replied, “Well that’s easy. I’m good at getting people to do what they would rather not do. I’m a… what do you call it? Promoter. Yeah. I’m a promoter” (p. 1). Mr. Samuels acknowledgement of his gift(s) is what makes him shine. His own light enables him to do what no one else can. By being part of our team, his authenticity, light, and experience give our board transparent energy to

For those charged with developing leaders, identifying potential leaders who possess the building blocks of character, creativity, and compassion, and those who also have a clear sense of purpose and the energy to pursue that purpose is key (Allio, R. J., 2005, p.

My experience and skills are surpassed only by my enthusiasm to effectively meet the challenges before me. I am a highly capable, motivated, and energetic individual that enjoys working with others towards successful solutions. My leadership style incorporates motivation through positive feedback and support plus straightforwardness and open communication that builds trust and loyalty among my peers and patients alike. Throughout my personal experiences, education, and athletic career I have honed the ability to be a leader in times where others look for leadership. Leadership is not given; a confident, competent, and motivated individual takes leadership of a situation.
There are people out in the world that love making changes, or creating change, and those who have collaboration, Doctors and researchers are a great example of these types of leaderships and what goes on within the life of leadership. Doctors are finding ways to have a uterus transplant that will help some infertile women in the United States to be able to get pregnant. This new development will deal with a lot of these different types of change, collaboration, civic leadership, and leadership as ethics.

Mc Neal expounds on leadership and those who will seek to carry it out. the work is not overtly religious, yet it is balanced in the biblical references included. On a rather dreary Sunday afternoon, I had the pleasure of interviewing Alex, an RA in Haaland Hall, about her experiences as and RA and her thoughts on leadership. Alex was a little tired, but still chipper after staying up the previous night for weekend hall duties, which included rounds at 2:00 AM. Alex has been an RA for two years, previously in Christensen Hall and now in Haaland Hall, so she was able to offer me a wealth of advice based on years of experience.
While considering this question about her personal philosophy of leadership, the director of nursing support services was thoughtful for a few moments before supplying an answer. Staying true to personal and professional ethics, promoting accountability, and committing to professionalism and excellence in her role as a leader demonstrates her personal philosophy of leadership. Leaders should continue to experience personal and professional growth and be responsible for learning and educational opportunities to aid in that growth. A leader’s past personal and professional values, education, and work experiences influence leadership style (Hobirk & Deuchar, 2011).
When he first began, he was told that he was a pastor and that he had no business experience; how could he possibly guide people in business? He has taken his leadership experiences from his church life and directly correlated them to many various fields. The book has many illustrations drawing parallels with sports and American history as well as corporate experts’ stories.
From my interview with M.T., I learned that not only do I have to work hard to be the best and widely recognized planner, but I have to learn to have fun with it and learn to love it. For my research, M.T. gave me two magazines, Successful Meetings and Meeting Professional, which had many articles and stories from many professional planners. Another meeting planner had it as lucky as M.T. did. I read one of the articles, called “Passion and Commitment” in the Meeting Professional magazine, which is about an experienced meeting planner named Michael Woody. It tells of his experience in his occupation and how he benefitted from just simply enjoying his job. With more than 27 years of experience in this occupation, Woody is “dedicated to making sure the educational components that [the industry] brings forward not only resonate with [their] members, but address what the employers in our industry find valuable” (29). Now, I thought that was worthy of praising and promoting him for his passion and commitment. Without ambition and motivation, how can I ever succeed in anything, like how M.T. and Mr. Woody
I enjoyed reading your post. After reading your post I went back and started re-reading the interview of Buck Samuels, it reminds me of an uncle I have that worked in real estates in my home town. He recently retired and the company is now overseen by one of his sons. They just built thirty-nine condos in the community and my uncle, like Buck, went through all the paper work and was able to find savings on several of the financial statements. Although he is retired, he is known to look over all contracts and permits. His experience is extremely valuable. As it is stated “Mr. Samuel’s shows tremendous attention to detail and has relationships with influential people that can benefit our organization.” (Sharp, 2016) a person like Buck is hard
I truly enjoyed reading the material for this week 's discussion. I found it fascinating to read how these people of passion were so revered as leaders. Something I found difficult while reading the stories of these various leaders was the details of what they did within their respective industries that made them successful. Although I recognize the importance of the details, I found myself continually fanaticizing about how the many different approaches would directly translate to the fire service. Because of the uniqueness of the fire service as an industry, I found it easier to relate to themes and concepts rather than the details. 'Strengths Based Leadership ' by Tom Rath and Barry Conchie For example Simon Cooper stated: "people create memories, not things. If we ask guests what color the carpet was in their guest room, they probably won 't know. The real value comes from the ladies and gentlemen (employees) who bring that hotel to life. Ten percent is the platform, but the rest is people. (Rath & Conchie, 2008, p. 43) As I read this I couldn 't help but think of the fact that our customers in the emergency response world (fire service) likely remember more about how we treat them than what uniform we wear or what kind of apparatus we arrive in, so long as we bring true caring and compassion to their bedside. In addition Cooper 's people over platform approach was obvious in this Rath & Conchie description: "then when he talked of the night-and-day difference that a
Looking back at my own experiences with working with the community and organizations, I have seen how important it is to have human relationships. Working as an Activity Assistant in a nursing home and a Navy Ombudsman provided many opportunities to see how relationships can be successful with working with others and creating bonds not only with individual, community
He assigned individual members of his staff to develop relationships with people in a particular area of the company, so that they would have a voice speaking for them within HR.
