Building Codes Set Construction Standards

Several Australian Standards have been identified through the early stages of preliminary research. The purpose of these standards is to ensure structural safety for the Australian community in the present and in future. The Building Code of Australia (BCA) comes up with the required codes and requirement that ought to be followed whenever a structure is being laid. Among these standards are the AS 5100 bridge design, the AS 3600 concrete design and the AS 4100 steel structure design standards.

When a Building Standard is created or improved the legislature gives authority to the California Department of Housing and Community Development. Where the HCD conduct a meeting with the public and an Initial Statement of Reason is stated for the proposal of the building standard. The building standard is then over looked by CBSC and sent to the Code Advisory Committee Meeting where the Building standard will be approved, approved as amended or disapproved. Depending on the results the CAC send recommendations to HCD for additional approval. After their approval the Building Standard is updated it gets submitted back to CBSC and they provide a second public hearing which involves a 45 day comment period. Soon after the agencies will look over the public’s comments and decides whether the building standard amendments are substantive or non-substantive and if the amendments are sufficient or no amendments were made then the Building Standard will go through its final process where the final proposed Building standard, Statement of Reason, summary and comments will be updated to the informative digest. In conclusion, having a license in interior design must be obtained. An experienced designer has learned to make sure a design is accessible and meets applicable building codes. And that it is safe and functional. An unqualified designer may violate codes or create life threatening hazards. And may do it without even realizing because they have no clear understanding of regulations. That’s why it’s important for legislation in interior design qualification and oversight.
