Ethics in HRM suggests the treatment of employees with common decency and justice. Ethical business practices contributes to the long and short term business objectives as the employees will feel motivated thus they will work efficiently and effectively . The conduct of ethics in HRM fundamentally deals with the affirmative moral obligations of the employer directed towards employees to maintain equality and equity justice. Common areas of HRM in the ethical demeanour of business includes; civil employment fight (e.g. Job Interviews, selection), safety in the work place, and acceptable treatment to employees (E.g. Equity and equal opportunities).

Human Resources professionals are in a unique position to help corporations build the integrity of the company and develop positive organizational cultures. They can use their influences on many levels within an organization promote ethics by developing programs and policies that encourage employees to make the right choices. This may be in form of a written code of ethics or ethical training for managers and employees that make them fully aware of the company’s expectations in areas such as discrimination, sexual harassment, and the treatment of employees. At some point in our lives we may feel the need to speak to the human resource department of the company that we are employed by. The human resource department is there to protect the rights of employers and employees. Also they are the first faces an individual interacts with once they are accepting employment within a company. While, I lived overseas I worked for a nonprofit organization and obviously we did not have any departments so everything was dealt with by the manager which was difficult as she definitely had favorites with our company. Human resources can provide protection against things like this and is much more ethical. Although, I have had many jobs over the years I have only had to go to through the channels of the human resources department one time with a problem that could not be resolved within my work environment.

Organization must strive to provide employees with a clear understanding of the overall company vision. This will aid employees in practicing the code of ethics, policies and procedures in the workplace. Companies must be unwavering in continuously delivering the uppermost ethics of provision in which customers, applicants and employees are entitled to under fair business practices. One major core value is to uphold responsible and fair business practices.
