“To Be Or Not To Be Promoted?” 2
Evaluate the entire selection process for the position. Judge whether mistakes were made and discuss what could have been done differently.
When I start evaluating the entire selection process, I have to start with the assessment process. The first thing that catches my attention is the fact that three of the four interviewers are men. As a woman interviewing for a job, I would be a little intimated being questioned by three men and one female. I would feel more comfortable being interviewed by a panel that was made up of two men and two women. I also think that the interview panel should have been set up to objectively view the candidate’s best and worst qualities for the position. Also, during

I would also tell them to show what they know about the position and convince the panel that they are the best person in the job. One of the most important things is to be on time for your interview and always dress for success. Be prepared and showcase your confidence. Even though this is an in house interview, I would also encourage each one of the potential candidates to follow up after the interview.
Once the offer was made, I would reassure each of them that they did a great job during the interview and not to get discouraged because they were not chosen. I would advise them to offer assistance to Joe as he transitions to his new role and offer him a helping hand. I would advise against trying to find out why they are not selected for the position, due to the fact they do not want to hinder being selected for any other positions that may come available in the near future.
Based on what you know about George Montgomery, assess his management style and describe what bearing it may have had on his selection of Joe. Based on what I know about George Montgomery, he kind of comes across as a prick. I see him as being this old guy who was introduced in the business world when it was predominately dominated by men. I do not think that he has any respect for women. I do not think that he feels like a woman deserves to be in a senior management level position. Joe may

The next step in the recruitment process would be to derive a job description. An initial step to this is to conduct a job analysis. A job analysis is used for collecting and summarizing information according to established guidelines. The information obtained also sets standards and performance expectations for employees assigned to these positions. Several different procedures or sources can be used in this process. Included in these are interviews, observations of the actual job, questionnaires, supervisory input, published literature, and the use of experts.
Indicate what you feel are the employees best attributes and skills and what you feel are the kinds of roles that they would excel in.
How do the candidate's performance, potential, or personal qualities compare to those of other well-qualified individuals in similar roles? Please provide specific examples. (300 words)
To further evaluate the selection procedure I would need for Tim to provide information to help show that no discrimination has taken place and that it truly is standard for all applicants. Tim would need to submit copies of policies he has in place and provide files of employees for review of the test scores and ratings when it came to the selection process. Interviews would need to be conducted with randomly selected employees to provide first-hand witness account to what goes on in the office and confidentiality needs to be maintained so that no retaliation
In order to create the most effective interview committee the following steps are suggested 1.find experts within the current staff, 2.have the roles and responsibilities outlined for the committee, 3.provide interview committee training (so they are aware of/prepared for their responsibilities). A role of the interviewing committee should be to target the “competencies and traits” (www.doe.in.gov, 2016) that are required for the potential new hire to have in order to be highly effective. All members of the interview committee should then use these targets to design questions that will be
2. Analyze the employee factors and other organizational or social factors in this case to determine which style of leadership she should have adopted.
Outline one (1) job interview process, and document the methods that you must use to select the right person for available positions. Determine two (2) employment laws that you must consider in the process in question, and examine the key ramifications of the organization’s lack of enforcement of said laws.
Play on your strengths and translatable skills to show how you could be a potential asset to the company and the job you are interviewing for. Show the interviewer you are ready and willing to try your very best at the job at hand. Always keep your answers short, simple and honest, because making them long, confusing and made up is the worst thing you can do if the interviewer catches you in a lie with specific questions regarding your answer. Don’t try to be over smart, instead present yourself as a confident, sensible, and hard working. Don’t ever use slang words, clichés or criticize a former employer or employees during the interview, because this shows that you could be doing the same thing to them if you don’t get the job or after you might leave the job later. This shows that they can trust you to keep business details within the company, and not outside of it that can give the company a bad name. Posture and having a sense of humor and a smile on your face are good to have during the interview process because it shows that you are ready and happy for the opportunity, and enjoy the company. It is good to have your cheat sheet ready for specific STAR questions that could be asked, and at a glance you can bring up past experiences that can be used rather than trying to figure out an experience or don’t have one at all and unable to answer the question. It’s good to try not to sound like you rehearsed
Also, please remember this is a professional interview. You should be dressed professionally and also act in a professional manner!

The business problem at UnitedHealth Group is the high turnover of employees because of lack of recognition and management of manpower. In part one, it was determined that I use qualitative data. This methods chosen allows us to group the data into the necessary categories. I determined that the research variable is recognition and this would solve the issue of the high turnover rate.
Consider a reliable method to select the best candidate from the interviews. One good way to follow up on a candidate is to call the references the candidate has listed. Those references can give you a more personal history on the performance and job duties of the candidate. Repeat the process for each candidate. After all candidates have been discussed with the head hiring department or manager, then make your selection of the top two. You may even want to have a second interview if questions were brought up in the selection process. If a second interview is needed it is ok to specific this time and you will not need open ended questions to determine skill set, this interview is strictly to get questions answered. It is good to have your head hiring manager present during the second interview as well. This will give them the opportunity to view the candidate as well as ask any question they may have. Once you have selected your top candidate you can offer them the
3. Evaluate the job descriptions. What parts of them were most useful? How could they be improved?
When giving this case, allow for some initial planning and brainstorming by the candidate, but then firmly take control of each of the “modules” described below. Try to move the candidate along through each of them, since in the actual interview only those candidates that complete all of the sections will be considered to have done well. This case tests mental horsepower and the ability to move to conclusions quickly.
