C-Town Burglary Observation

Back on October 3, 1974 at approximately 10:45pm two Memphis police officers were on patrol and received a complaint from dispatch to respond to a burglary in progress (Tennessee v. Garner, 1986). Officers Leslie Wright and Elton Hymon took the call and responded to the location in question (Tennessee v. Garner, 1986). After arriving, a neighbor told the two officers she heard glass breaking next door and “they” were breaking into the home (Tennessee v. Garner, 1986). On 08/20/2017 at 1002 hours FTO Wheeler #4361 and I responded to St. Luke’s Hospital emergency room entrance, on 3555 Cesar Chavez St., regarding a women in a hospital gown trying to break the caller’s vehicle window with a brick. Officer Wheeler and I were in full police uniform driving a marked patrol unit when we responded.

As I, Klaudia Hoxha (forensic technician), approached the crime scene at 4 o'clock pm at the residence of Josh Powell. As i approached the scene i noticed 4 reporting officers, and the fire fighters who put the fire out, were present at this two story single family dwelling. I arrived to the location and knocked on the residence’s door. I noticed that the light was on inside the location; therefore, I continued to knock on the door. I spoke to Rob Bettinger who stated someone had broke into his home. Rob stated the only thing missing was a envelope with $700.00 dollars in a dresser in the master bedrooom. Rob stated nothing else in the home had been touched or messed with. Rob stated the suspect used something to force open the door from the garge into the home. I noticed the door was broken and the lock was in the floor of the home. I took photos of the damage to the door and place into evidence.
