In order for me to be successful at CWU is being strict with my time management, when I get invited to go out and hangout I usually say yes. Unfortunately I still have work to get done, so I have to work on saying no to my friends. Another thing I need to work on is to focus more in class, we are all paying money to go to class. So I need to "get my money's worth" when I go to class.

And so far getting to know people on campus has been one of my greatest experiences. I have met so many wonderfully different people here. I hope to develop more independence. To be more responsible for keeping up with my schoolwork, preparing for tests, and making most out of my classes, even when they start early. This article “Students of Success” written by Lynn Cheney was very well written. Cheney’s point in this article is that students in liberal arts shouldn’t be over looked in the world of business. She explains that students in liberal arts have the opportunity to become anywhere from Management to the next president of the united states. People should understand that its not the field you major in but it’s the way you use your major. Cheney states that students who follow their hearts in choosing majors will mostly end up laboring at what they love.

There are a couple of things about me that I think will help me succeed at Bellevue College. I take a lot of notes and set the necessary time aside to study. I am very self-disciplined and I have always been a very goal oriented person. When I started my job three years ago I set a goal that I would also obtain a degree in accounting. This is something I am taking very seriously and I can’t wait to gain knowledge to further my career.
In order for a student to make the most of their UW experience, the first action I would recommend would be to explore. Don’t be afraid and put yourself out there and take classes that seem interesting to you. Explore your options and take risks. Getting out of your comfort zone enables you to challenge yourself, growing and learning at the same time. This motivation of exploring uncertainty is important as it strengthens your personal growth and offers more opportunities if you go out there and chase them. Exploring is just one step, but being involved is another step that is worth your UW experience. Being involved means more than just attending classes- it means attending office hours whenever possible. Joining clubs or sports will heighten your experience by being a part of the UW community and by doing so, strengthens your social networking that could be used in the future. These connections will be important in the future when you go out there in the real world and need recommendations or simply just a job. Involvement is also important for your learning process, as more people learn via hands-on and experiencing rather than sitting in a lecture hall mindlessly taking notes. Lastly, it is important to remember that nothing can stop you from achieving your goals. You cannot make the most of your UW experience if you spend most of your time sulking on that one test you failed. Allow yourself to fail and learn from your mistakes. It is important that you can pick yourself up, making sure that you are able to grow into a better person and do better next time by studying that extra day or simply asking for help. For me, I was able to maximize my time at the UW by attending office hours, going to study centers, or simply asking my friends when I needed help. Going out of my comfort zone and making an effort to ask
During the time that I began my second semester of freshmen year here in McKenzie Tennessee at Bethel University, I'm still not where I want to be yet with the contact list and social skills around campus. I’m still gathering lecture’s from my upper classmen. They’re giving me all kinds of advocacy from how not think about home, speak to certain people around here to how to pass classes and what teachers to take to even what can you to eat to survive. This is directed towards the entering freshmen attending Bethel University who need a few pointers on what to expect from a college life style around McKenzie.
Actually, all of my class was quite enoyable, but the course that can be considered a favorite would be Student Success Seminar. This course introducted incoming student to all the tool available; that can be very beneficial in navagation through the the college experience. Our professor Dr. Mingo had a great repore with the class and the couse introduced students to various resources that allows student to work smarter. Furthermore, the classroom was a platform for sharing ideas, constructive critism and it was a great opportunity to fine tune those skills that can be applied in future courses.
College is a competitive environment; in order to succeed in it a student needs certain skills. Those skills can only be learned. A college professor mentioned that there five basic rules that need to be followed in order to become a good student: study, do all the homework and the assigned reading, attend class, and, most importantly, develop self-discipline and time management 1. In the following lines, a detailed analysis of those different steps will be done. So, let’s get started.
