Calling Britain “the mother country” suggests that Canada was in Britain’s command. Canada was highly influenced by Britain’s decisions. Britain was almost like a mother to Canada, influencing her decisions and having control over her, also like a daughter Canada wanted to make Britain proud.
South African war (Boer war.) “The South African War (1899-1902) or, as it is also known, the Boer War, marked Canada's First official dispatch of troops to an overseas war. His resistance against Britain’s intrusion of Canadian autonomy explains itself and his adopting of two provinces rich in resources and fertile land may be the reason Canada is still afloat when it comes to international trade today. In fact, current statistics show Canada is one of the largest producers of canola globally and in 2016 Saskatchewan accounted for 53.7% of Canadian canola area. Alberta is rich in energy-resource, as it is home to oil sands, the largest reserve in the country, and third largest in the world, along with mass amounts of natural gas and
The Confederation took place in 1867, and the Canadian Expeditionary Force(CEF) was raised in 1914. The CEF is what protects what the Confederation created, and would not the nation’s greatest achievement be protecting that which the nation created. “Canada did not enter the war of its own accord but was automatically at war when Britain declared war against Germany.” Canada entered the war to stand by its mother country, to protect the country who founded it. The Canadian Corps and CEF were created to defend Canada, and fought not only in the war but for the recognition that Canada deserved, to then show that in the Great War we achieved something great, and finally to piece together to how Canada is now, to build through the years and show that this was truly Canada’s greatest achievement.

During the Cold War; Canada only exported weapons and supplies to the US mostly. There were other wars like the Afghanistan War and the Iraq War that helped Canada bring new things to the table. “First responders are at least twice as likely to suffer from PTSD” (First Responders, n.d.). In the past month alone, 3 Canadian first responders took their lives when suffering from post traumatic stress disorder became too much for them to handle according to The Tema Conter Memorial Trust Association (2017). “PTSD is an anxiety-type disorder occurring after a traumatic experience involving threat of, or actual, injury or death” (pmhdev, n.d.). This essay will explore how PTSD affects the lives of Canadian first responders and the challenges it imposes on Canadian health care including a faster burnout rate, the stigma around PTSD and work compensation.
Dear Vivian, I am writing to you from the largest region in Canada, also known as the Canadian Shield. The shield is shaped like a giant saucer and is over 2 billion years old! Did you know that the Canadian Shield was once covered by glaciers? When the glaciers melted, it had created rocky hills and the debris forced rivers to flow in different directions. When I packed for this trip around the Canadian Shield, I brought strictly shorts and t-shirts, since it’s the summer. However, I did not realize that summers in the southern areas specifically would be so hot, rainy and humid. My hair did not agree with the weather at all! The vegetation in this area is incredible! There are so many tree’s in this area, such as spruce, poplar and fir.
What is the Canadian Shield? The Canadian Shield is a large plateau that occupies more than 40% of the land area of Canada. It extends from the Great Lakes northward to the Arctic Ocean. This area completely surrounds the Hudson's Bay in a shape of a horse shoe.
Canada's topography is dominated by the Canadian Shield, an ice-scoured area of Precambrian rocks surrounding Hudson Bay and covering half the country. This vast region, with its store of forests, waterpower, and mineral resources, is being increasingly developed. East of the Shield is the maritime area, separated from the rest of Canada by low mountain ranges pierced by plains and river valleys, and including the island of Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island. South and southeast of the Shield are the Great Lakes–St. Lawrence lowlands, a fertile plain in the triangle bounded by the St. Lawrence River, Lake Ontario, and Georgian Bay. West of the Shield are the farmlands and ranching areas of the great central plains, some 1,300 km (800 mi)
The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) are a unique institution consisting of a wide cross section of our nation’s population. It is due to this vast representation of cultural and regional upbringings that there lies a requirement for an integration process into military life. In this paper I will discuss some training procedures utilized during my basic recruit school training in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, and the theories and models of psychology and behaviour they were based upon.
As a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces, I am happy to outline and expound various organizational aspects which are valuable to our members. While our organization is actively working to complete organization cultural changes that will see an improvement for all concerned, five examples of the signs outlined in Management Principles by Carpenter, Bauer, & Erdogan (2010) will be provided.
Reporters rely on sources to provide the news they publish, and those sources might not want to share information out of fear that they’ll get in trouble for sharing it. Privileges in reporter were developed to protect journalists. Reporter 's privilege in the United States is the protection that a reporter has under constitutional law from being forced to reveal their confidential information or sources in court. It may be described in the US as the First Amendment right given to journalists to protect their private sources from being exposed.
“From the outset of the war, the Canadian people have clearly shown that it is their desire to help in every way to make Canada’s war effort as effective as possible” – William Lyon Mackenzie King, Prime Minister of Canada during World War II (Collections Canada, 2001). Currently, many in the 21st century consider Canada as a very peaceful, social, and overall accommodating country. Canada does many things for its people such as taking in many refugees, helping university level students with loans, and giving immigrants affordable housing. Canada also helps protect other countries military wise, especially the people in certain countries who are found in situations like war. Canada tries to create peace with these countries or tries to use
Throughout the world, there has always been conflicts between different nations. One of Canada’s characteristics represents a defining aspect known as peacekeeping, through their beliefs and interests. Peacekeeping has always been a priority for Canadians to control conflict for Canada and other nations around the world. Peacekeeping in Canada began in 1957, when Lester B. Pearson believed that Canada should do something to ensure that nations could agree to have stable truces. Pearson proposed the idea of having an armed peacekeeping force. Peacekeeping is the active maintenance of a truce between nations or communities, especially in international military forces. Canada has significantly impacted peacekeeping, through sending troops on peacekeeping missions and showing how to resolve conflict, getting money and aid through communities to help more nations, and raising awareness on peacekeeping politically.
